Test drove the Megan and the ID3, the Megan was much better in a lot of ways.... never thought id ever own a french car, but ordered one coming later this year!
Picked my up this Tuesday it’s the iconic the even though its Google infotainment connecting my iPhone was not the easiest plus for all the functions it took 2 days. For a petrol car there would not have been a problem but I could not charge it at the cheaper rate at home because I could not connect it to the EV charger I have. Car it self is great they just need to do and idiots guide to how to connect mobile phones to it. They must not assume every one is young buy one. I’m 58 so I need a little help.
The car uses the last 40 miles of driving, and the accumulated mi/kWh to predict range so test cars will never give a realistic prediction- reset it after a charge. If I drive mine at 67/68 on motorway I’m getting about 4 m/kWh and 260 per charge.
A superb review from a very fine Motoring Journalists, who takes the very essence of the car and distills it into what makes it great.....Well done! I've just ordered the Top-of the -Range Iconic model (with that excellent Heat Pump). It was a straight choice between a Tesla Model 3 or the Megane, both were the same price.....No contest! The sterile, poor build quality, horrid interior, ugly Tesla is so dated compared to the Renault. It's tech is so 'yesterday'. Brilliant move by Renault going to the experts, Google! By the way, Renault say the 0-60 time is 7.5 Seconds. Independent tests have clocked it at 6.9 Seconds (that's Mini Cooper S territory).......how typically French, underplaying. Unlike the Italians, which always exaggerate!
Great review! Been lucky enough to have lived with one for a few months - and that included driving 3,000 miles in a week around the British mainland including John O’Groats and Lands End. The Megane has a lot of useful tricks up its sleeve to make that sort of road trip a doddle, as much as it’s a comfy place if you just need a shopping cart. Overall, it’s Achilles Heels are the efficiency (if you compare with, say, the South Korean cars that are available) and possibly the price…. (But then we all have different priorities/needs from a car, and every car is a set of compromises between one thing and another!). I reckon the design team got a lot of things right. Perhaps it would have been useful to point out that the driving set up can be changed and even personalised to some extent (“Perso” driving mode) to what the driver wants/needs, including steering input IIRC. E.g. “Sport” mode and the regen paddles is a right hoot on country lanes. Equally for eating up miles there’s some settings for just cruising effortlessly and efficiently. I loved my time with one!😊
Hey mate, thanks for watching and the nice feedback, glad you enjoyed it :) I did try in few different modes overall I think the car is great and I was really just nit picking. I would prefer to use this car in the city rather than long cruises however, Im going to try and get my hands on the BYD and see how that compares :)
We bought one in early January and we are delighted with it , the delayed chargeing and early morning heating works a treat couldnt be happier with it Cheers
Excellent reviews as usual I'm old to remember the r19 when I was living in france(I'm french) pity we missing some models in uk can't wait to try the new scenic etech.
You mention BYD a couple of times in your video yet I can’t see any reviews of the Atto 3 or Dolphin. I would interested in your opinion. Liked your review here. Just done a test drive and was impressed although central screen disappointing, particularly compared to the left hand drive version. Also the lack of an electric tailgate even on the top spec is just daft!
@@GoksCarLounge Nah your not wrong, Both stunning looking cars. The Megane is getting a new key from Sunday? Im due to order a new car and the Megane is just about top of the list... A new smart car key could push it to no.1 haha
Noooo I mean the smart car key 😅 you know, the brand with the 2 seater city car… 😂 I’ve had the brabus version for the past week and the video goes live Sunday 👍🏼
So if I get this car will I need one of those faraday wallets for the key in case some thief comes along with one of those range extenders and steals my car?
Potentially. No car is safe, I had a 2014 Smart car and a 2010 BMW X5. Both were stolen and both didn’t have any kind of keyless entry tech. I had both keys in house and they didn’t come near it.
Yes but you’ll probably get about 3kw of power so divide that by about 50kw and that’s how many hours it’ll take to charge. I know Megane has 60kw battery but assuming it won’t be fully depleted when you charge it. Get a box fitted if you can 👍🏼
@@GoksCarLounge iv got ppl coming to suss out the box situation but tbh I know most ppl wouldnt be able to wait that long with the 3pin but it would suit me , have you changed a tariff with ya electric would it be cheap to charge it with 3 pin plug
What you charge with won’t affect the cost, it’s just the speed. 30kw is 30kw regardless of whether you get it in 30mins or 3hrs. Octopus are quite competitive 👍🏼
Hi Steven, not sure what the point you’re making is? Or with the “!!!!!” Seems very angry? Anyway, launched in Autumn of 2022. Hope this helps and thanks for watching. X

Congrats Kyle! Hearing that about the ID3!

You never mentioned the boot, why ? I'm a wheelchair user, I needed to know how big......
Hi Brian, oversight on my part. I apologise.
Great vid as usual but I have one question…..what happened to the finger? 😮
Thanks Boss! A Jaguar bit it!!

Hi David,
I have the atto3 this weekend so once it’s approved by BYD it will go live this month. Thanks for watching.
@@GoksCarLounge Excellent. I look forward to seeing that.

Love that Ferrari comparison :) That key looks like its from the 1980s

Mid spec… equilbre :)
If you would have watched the video you would have heard at least a couple of times which version it is. Starting at 1:14
Funny bit of editing 😁

Great review Zelensky, I feel this role fits you better than Ukraine president.
немає нічого поганого в тому, щоб керувати країною і мати канал на RUclips.
Fresh, sharp, great opinion based review. Ariya?
Thank you David, appreciate the positive feedback :) possible, haven’t approached Nissan yet…
