i love how lucretia silences them before she's possessed. she doesn't care for their schemes, their words trying to coerce her. she's too far gone in her grief to care for anything else
By just the lore i choose lucretia, the "gods is not blind, they just didn't care" is really chilling and really true. Celestial are not supreme good being that care about individual, they only care about the big picture, so in a sense lucretia is right even tho the way she took is wrong.
Which is ironic since Celestials are supposed to be divine beings created by Dura to represent light, kindness & hope. Yet with Zaphrael's case we know now that they've their own dark side as well. & it doesn't help that Zaphrael could do a lot better than this. Really portray them as a group of Gods that might not care about the individual human themselves.
But that isn't really true either. The celestials do whatever they want according to their nature. For example athalia will straight up murder u if u get in her way. If anyone asks she will just say you got in the way of her justice. The celestials are selfish and treat humans like ants. They just happen to have a stake in maintaining the world. But if humans somehow got in the way of the celestial's plans one day, they wouldn't hesitate to wipe us all out.
The thing here is, there was not any other way, by the time Zaphrael got there, the kid was already "dead" and midway through the fusion, if he tried to save him, the portal would be opened, unfortunately, this was a lose-lose situation, both for Zaphrael, who had to kill his own son and, eventually, fight the one who he loved, and his ex-wife, who, overcomed by rage and grief, let the Hypogean possess her, transforming herself into a pawn for their plans..
Yet the fact remains that from what we see in this cinematic, he doesn't seem to care. He just kills his only son and walks off like he was ticking an item off the list.

It was only being revived through a ritual and it can easily be stopped as long as the ritual is not yet completed, hence why they only sent Zaphrael. If Lucretia never went to the area where Owain died, then Twin Terror could've decayed and it wouldn't have fused itself with her. She was filled with rage and betrayal. It was in a hurry to look for a host after the original catalyst (Owain's body) got burned by Zaphrael so it chose Lucretia and took advantage of her hatred against the Celestials.

That awkward moment when your favourite is betrayed by her husband because he killed their son, who was being possessed by an evil being, and thus gets possessed by the evil being herself and tries to kill him several times before he launches them both into the void, but they’re your two strongest heroes and now they’re on a team together.

He only got with Lucretia out of pressure from his peers after she expressed her strong feelings, who became madly devoted to him after he saved her from Mezoth years ago and became a medic, thinking she wont ever see him again after tending to a devasting wound he sustained. Zaphreal's priority was always to extinquish the Hypogeons.

I understand that Zaphrael didn't have much of a choice when killing his son, but what really pissed me off about him is that he married Lucretia out of peer pressure, then abandoned her pregnant and all, not even meeting his son. When he came back it was too late, he killed his son and instead of trying to provide comfort for his wife, he left her crying on the ground.
I began to play AFK Arena for its design. I stayed for everything else. I *love* all of the characters, I can stay up looking at a character for hours. The story, too, is something I really like. This animation made me want to have a full series... is _so_ impressive.
This is incredible. This movie rally shows how much afk arena team cares about their creation, that it is not all about the money, but also about the art!

This is the only AFK Arena ad I've ever watched entirely without skipping. Because normally the other ads got on my nerves. But wow this is amazing! The soundtrack is what kept me from skipping at first, i adore music so it definitely caught my attention. I ended up staying for the story the animation told. Again, amazing!!

Well I mean, you gotta remember, that unbeknownst to Lucretia, their son was already consumed by the Hypogeans. It was a mercy killing. So as difficult as his choice was, neither of them could've saved him. He would have ended up as just another threat to Esperia, who would've been killed anyway. But Zaph _did_ abandon her, so her anger still makes sense.

Giving the boy every chance even if he happened to transform into a hypo I think zaph was more than capable of taking him down. He is so enamored with doing his duty that he gives up all humanity! This is an absolute masterpiece. The incredible narrative over both sides of the battle, rich story and incredible visual display with massively important dialogue all compliment each other perfectly throughout the entire video. Well done! I love this game, so glad I found it and that money spent on the game lets you produce such incredible things.
I have not read the lore and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. So I'm guessing the God's in AFK Arena are in a way like the Greek gods or Roman gods?
No he isn't. I've read both of their lores and they just have different points of view. It's said in the game. Righteousness vs vengeance. Zaphrael would've saved his son but it was too late. Besides, from his childhood and his life with Lucretia we get to see that he hardly cares for anything except combating evil. While his choice to kill his son might seem selfish, it was the logical thing to do. Otherwise he'd become a hypogean slave, which is arguably worse than death. Lucretia made that choice. She chose Zaphrael, she couldn't save her son and for that she blames him, even though it's not entirely his fault. They are both responsible for each other's burdens.

So no, this was all Zaphrael's fault since the very beginning. His unconditional faith towards the Gods, while it's good, also made him blind to all the loves his wife & son had for him. Made him apathetic & ignore the very beings he & the other Gods should be protecting. People who were blaming Lucretia are just stupid. If anything, she's the victim in this story. She's just a human that fully trust, devote & admire her husband & the Gods all her life. Until they'd not do a single thing to protect her & her son. & when the help came, it's already too late. She has all the rights to be angry & seeking vengeance to them.

I am speechless. I've got goosebumps. I can't reconcile the fact that something of this quality came from an AFK mobile game company. Please, please keep making this type of content. I would pay full price for a theatre ticket, just for shorts as long as this.

I was hooked into this game for the art and lore and almost two years later I am still not disappointed in the slightest!! I LOVE seeing the amazing effort and care that is put into the characters and worldbuilding

Giving the boy every chance even if he happened to transform into a hypo I think zaph was more than capable of taking him down. He is so enamored with doing his duty that he gives up all humanity! This is an absolute masterpiece. The incredible narrative over both sides of the battle, rich story and incredible visual display with massively important dialogue all compliment each other perfectly throughout the entire video. Well done! I love this game, so glad I found it and that money spent on the game lets you produce such incredible things.

No he isn't. I've read both of their lores and they just have different points of view. It's said in the game. Righteousness vs vengeance. Zaphrael would've saved his son but it was too late. Besides, from his childhood and his life with Lucretia we get to see that he hardly cares for anything except combating evil. While his choice to kill his son might seem selfish, it was the logical thing to do. Otherwise he'd become a hypogean slave, which is arguably worse than death. Lucretia made that choice. She chose Zaphrael, she couldn't save her son and for that she blames him, even though it's not entirely his fault. They are both responsible for each other's burdens.

First of all, it's not the fact that he couldn't save Owain that makes him horrible. It's the fact that he COULD do A LOT better than this. This guy left a pregnant woman by her own for YEARS without even meeting his son even once during that time.
He's a God. If he TRULY cares about his family, he'd have kept a record of where they're & always monitored them. If he did that, he'd have provided Lucretia & Owain a safe place to be their home, preventing them from entering that village & be sacrificed for The Hypogeans.
& she chose Zaphrael? As in what? To be his wife? Last time I checked, Lucretia has never forced him to be in marriage or anything. She just confessed her love, which is a normal thing to do. Zaphrael has all the right to completely ignore it & forget everything. But instead HE chose to marry her by peer pressure, then left after she got pregnant. This guy is a fucking loser lol.
& ofc Lucretia couldn't save him bcus she's NOT a God. She's just a mortal literally faced the entire cult alone by herself. She couldn't do anything since she's powerless. If I've a God as my husband under such a stress & desperate situation, I'd put all my hopes into him as well.
So no, this was all Zaphrael's fault since the very beginning. His unconditional faith towards the Gods, while it's good, also made him blind to all the loves his wife & son had for him. Made him apathetic & ignore the very beings he & the other Gods should be protecting.
People who were blaming Lucretia are just stupid. If anything, she's the victim in this story. She's just a human that fully trust, devote & admire her husband & the Gods all her life. Until they'd not do a single thing to protect her & her son. & when the help came, it's already too late. She has all the rights to be angry & seeking vengeance to them.
AFK arena is just getting on another level, i'm soo grateful to my little brother for showing me this game before almost 2 years..

Now they need to add a new hero, and hear me out, the child of Zaphareal and Lucretia, his name will be Owain "the betrayed child" and have him be half celestial and half hyporgean, idk but it be freaking cool and tie in some more lore, like how niru, shemira and daimion are all a family but you just wouldnt know it unless you've read their bios. just a thought.

I was hooked into this game for the art and lore and almost two years later I am still not disappointed in the slightest!! I LOVE seeing the amazing effort and care that is put into the characters and worldbuilding
