Bobsledding is crazy dangerous. For a bunch of dudes who had probably never seen snow before to get inside a bobsled with only a little practice and a lot of bad luck is still one of the best, gusiest, most bad ass Olympic stories I've ever heard
It was cool. There was a cold snap so a lot of events were delayed so they held a bunch in one day and everyone who had tickets to on of the events got to see everything that went on that day. So 90 m ski jump, ariels, 4 man bobsled, nortic combined. So we got to see Eddie the eagle as well
@@locnar777 wow, you were really lucky! See so many venues. Ski jumping and sliding were in Calgary itself but the skiing events were at Mt Allen at Nakiska in Kananaskis and Canmore Nordic Centre .Canmore. I’m jealous
I remember watching these guys and I remember the mood of the times and they made Bobsledding a must see event. Those guys rocked the Olympics that year and everyone wanted to know about these guys! I smiled watching this remembering back .... I am happy to see them back again! I have been an Olympic junky since I was a kid and these guys I will never forget- they put a smile on your face no matter what..
When he speaks of walking down the ice, having his head down in defeat, and then hearing someone start clapping, and then cheers erupting... I'm not crying your're crying. But I'm also crying.
Who else is watching this in 2022? What a great legacy left by the 1988 team. In this year's Olympics, Jamaica qualified 3 bobsled teams and 1 skier. Amazing!!!!
A real inspiring underdog story. They may not have medalled but they were the ones everyone was watching and who captured our hearts for decades to come. At the end of the day, their spirit is what it's all about, and the approach to life we should all aspire to.
I remember the Jamacan bobsled team, Eddie the Eagle, Kip Keeno, and many others! They are my Olympic hero's because they embody the Olympic Spirit. They will never be forgotten because of their courage and belief in that Spirit.
The real "Derice" is more likable than the fake one from the movie. He's sarcastic, I like it. "I like the movie reason more, it was a mechanical error not human." LOL.
Jamaica....I hope you win the future Olympics.....amazing true story and loved the movie Cool Runnings. Inspirational and hilarious. What an incredible legacy you have left.
The Jamaicans were a Cherished Gift brought to our Calgary Olympics. They never had a Walk of Shame after that crash, we are so Grateful you are okay. Everyone remembers that Olympics well, we miss you Jamaica.
I am somebody that has always loved Jamaica. I happened to have been living in Calgary during the Olympics. They were the team I was rooting for. Jamaica and Fast Freddy on the ski jumping made the 88 Olympics something special
They were the best ❤️ I don't care if they weren't professionals. They put their all into what they believed in. They made the whole world laugh We didn't laugh "AT THEM " we laughed WITH Them ❤️🇺🇸❤️
Just imagine if they had finished that run. They might've set a olympic record. Its nice to know though that jamaica is still doing that event and Nigeria even joined bobsledding in the olympics.
At 5:56 the guy say's " A new tourist attraction outside Montego Bay "......what the fuck ???? It's Mystic Mountain, and is 90 minutes from Montego Bay, LOL !!!! It's 3 minutes from downtown Ocho Rios, why not say OCHO RIOS !!!
I believe the phrase _docu-drama_ would be more accurate, with a healthy spritzing of Hollywood's standard "reality is boring so we're gonna throw a bunch of stuff in to get butts into seats and no one will know the difference" mixed in.
I hope Jamaica continues with it's bobsledding. I absolutely love the film cool runnings and wish the Jamaican bobsled team all the best for the future. Well done guys.
I'm just gonna say it. There is totally possiblity for another Jamaican bobsled team movie. Starting with the drivers grandchild watching cool runnings, and asking "was that how it was like for you grandad"?, "No child, it was much different to us"
Olympics are weird, it’s so... so hard to get a medal, years and years of perfect training, but if have lack of discipline and do ridicule, they applaud you like a hero.
In real facts they crashed because of the driver's mistake, not the old bobsled like in the film, but that doesn't make them less respectable and proud athletes
It's somewhat accurate, but it shows us a bunch of messages. NEVER GIVE UP. Winning is nice but you don't need to win to earn respect from your competitors.
this video was published in 2012 and she said the last time the Olympics were in canada was in 1988 but actually it was 2010 tell me if you find it weird as well :)

they were great to see in person, i was at canada olympic park the day of the crash, and cheered.
Wow you where there. That’s amazing. Tell me how was it and the experience.

Did they do the slow clap like in the movie 😆

ok chris bell
Win or lose, ya can't beat the Jamaican attitude!!!! A gold medal should be awarded to them for that alone! Cool runnings, mon!

December 2022
A real inspiring underdog story. They may not have medalled but they were the ones everyone was watching and who captured our hearts for decades to come. At the end of the day, their spirit is what it's all about, and the approach to life we should all aspire to.
Us Aussies always root for the underdogs - it's just who we are - and this is bloody legendary. Good work.
This is the stuff of legends, for centuries people will be talking about the Jamaican bobsled team.
I worked on the 88 Olympics, we loved the Jamaican Bobsled Team ! They were what the spirit of the Olympics was all about.
I remember the Jamacan bobsled team, Eddie the Eagle, Kip Keeno, and many others! They are my Olympic hero's because they embody the Olympic Spirit. They will never be forgotten because of their courage and belief in that Spirit.

Jamaica....I hope you win the future Olympics.....amazing true story and loved the movie Cool Runnings. Inspirational and hilarious. What an incredible legacy you have left.
I was 26 when they competed. It was a very big deal at the time. Really brought more fame to the bobsled sport in general.
polish translation of "Cool Runnings" is the best !!!: "Reggae on Ice"
I mean that's like making a movie about the Italian bobsled team and calling it "meatballs on ice". Kind of an out of context joke if you ask me.
Ha! :)
The Czech one is great too "Coconuts on Ice".
In Brazil is Jamaica Under Zero
In Colombia was also Jamaica Under Zero (Jamaica Bajo Cero). I love this movie!
What great attitudes.
The spirit of the underdog! excellent story about merely going the distance.
Love this is a bit of Jamaican history that needs to stay alive yeah.
now they need 80k to go to sochi. I would love to see the Jamaican bobsled team again.
/r/dogecoin helped make that happen :)
I know, I am glad. "feel the rhythm. Feel the ride. Come on now, It's bobsled time! COOL RUNNINGS!!!"
They did it!
yeah. but when they did their ran. they came dead last. At Least it was good watching them. Good to see something different.
Would love for the Jamaican team to metal In next winter Olympics.
Its not about winning its about taking part.
+J o n a t h a n Winning is finishing.
J o n a t h a n that's what losers say
"your bones don't break in a bobsled....... they shatter. WHO WANTS IN?!"
Ohio Against The World *everyone is gone*
LMAO
The Jamaicans were a Cherished Gift brought to our Calgary Olympics.
They never had a Walk of Shame after that crash, we are so Grateful you are okay. Everyone remembers that Olympics well, we miss you Jamaica.
thank you for posting this. I've a big fan of the movie since I was a kid, now at the age of 21 and learning about the real story is really cool!
30 people can't feel the rhythm

Amanda Nappier "Feel da rhythm, feel da rhyme, don't give up, it's bobsleigh time"
Amanda Nappier we're not talking about the damn Swiss.

Well, they made it. They aren't doing so well, but they made it.

Nuff people say they know them can't believe. Jamaica we have a bobsled team
The film was simply but very moving.
The message about determination however, timeless!
We are not the Swiss - now Swiss foot. I see Dignity! I loved this in 1988 and I love it now!
You got to love these guys! Respect to them and coach
That museum is in Ocho Rios, not Montego Bay, which is about 3 hours west of Mystic Mountain.
fantastic film and a great doc to see where it all began,,brilliant to watch
I'm wishing them luck in Sochi!
Cool Runnings makes me smile :) What a great story!
Tears...almost can't write... Jamaican heart, Jamaican speed. Get back to the olympics, brethren!
I have been sliding in the same period together with this team.. Great !
Just imagine if they had finished that run. They might've set a olympic record.
Its nice to know though that jamaica is still doing that event and Nigeria even joined bobsledding in the olympics.
Winners in my book.
One of my favorite movies
Wait, wait...so the movie "Cool Runnings" WASN'T a documentary?
It actually is a documentary!
I believe the phrase _docu-drama_ would be more accurate, with a healthy spritzing of Hollywood's standard "reality is boring so we're gonna throw a bunch of stuff in to get butts into seats and no one will know the difference" mixed in.
*based on a true story*
As a matter of fact there is no "John Candy" character
I love the movie! I just love the hole history and story about these guys!
for the first time in 24 years, Jamaica has a bobsled team again!
Wow John Candy passed away just few months after the movie was released. I watched the movie again. In spanish it was called jamaica below 0.
So proud to be Jamaican. :)
The fact people started clapping even they didn't finish... this is what olympics are about.
Proud of you dad!
I ain't kissin' no egg.
I hope Jamaica continues with it's bobsledding. I absolutely love the film cool runnings and wish the Jamaican bobsled team all the best for the future. Well done guys.

There is totally possiblity for another Jamaican bobsled team movie.
Starting with the drivers grandchild watching cool runnings, and asking "was that how it was like for you grandad"?, "No child, it was much different to us"
I've been there at Jamaica and loved to see them things mon....
Feel the rhythm feel the rhyme, come on Jamaica it's bobsled time!

“He’s one of the best bobsledders in the world”.
“Yeah and he’s also one of the biggest assholes in the world too”.

Proud Jamaican :-)
Anyone know the name of the song at 0:31 ? :)
For a country with no ice primitive training equipment they should get a medal for just qualifying for the olympics
this was put on youtube on my birthday :D
Coo Runnings, part 2… 2022 !!!
Peace be The Journey - Jamaican Bobsleigh? Yeah man.
30 dislikes?!
...for what exactly?
ah ha... weird.
Germans
the last time the olympics were in canada were 2010 vancouver at the uploading of this video
i'm sooo proud to be jamaican
In real facts they crashed because of the driver's mistake, not the old bobsled like in the film, but that doesn't make them less respectable and proud athletes
The true story is better than the fake story by Disney. Time for a 2019 reboot.
It's somewhat accurate, but it shows us a bunch of messages. NEVER GIVE UP. Winning is nice but you don't need to win to earn respect from your competitors.
And Dogecoin just got this year's team to the Russian Olympics :) much rhythm, many ride, wow.
***** 'only'? The currency is only 6 weeks old, I'd say that's pretty impressive
this video was published in 2012 and she said the last time the Olympics were in canada was in 1988 but actually it was 2010
tell me if you find it weird as well :)
