Allow me to say THIS: I'm a die-hard Mustang guy who also happened to own a 2010 G37 Coupe (lady totalled it two months ago) and replaced it with a 2014 Q60, this platform when compared to others in it's class and age is a formidable weapon! You'd be hard pressed to find any other competitor that's a N/A , V6 that can compete with IT! How many V6's, n/a was making 328-330hp back in 2008? running low five secs to 60, 13's in the quarter mile? I've gapped plenty of far newer V6 Camaros, Challengers (including R/T's) Chargers, Mustangs, 335i's, Genesis Coupes, etc This platform is timeless and the standard features, and comfort are more than sufficient! This car, for what it was, when it was, at the time it was, was a force to be reckoned with! It was never designed to compete with a lot of the current high horse power, boosted and far more expensive options out here today (unless you're willing to pay) But, that's NOT what this platform IS about... It's about having a descent performing, quite reliable, comfortable, attractive, not overly expensive ride to enjoy as a daily or purpose focused whip.. That's what this Infinity platform delivers ON👍

By today’s standards, the G isn’t that fast if a car but 15 years ago, it was one of the faster car and reliable. That engine is still one of the near engines of all time and with most, if not all, used cars that are 10-15 years old, there’s always maintenance $ to consider. To me, I still think it’s a great car to buy and you get a lot for the money.

Ok so I do like the g37 and for a Na car it is quick but the 2.0t Honda Accord sport is actually 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and is turbo charged unlike the g37 which does have a nice v6 but the turbo charger obviously wins because I could fbo with stage 2 tune on the accord and make it 0-60 in 4.5 seconds or less depending on what tires I have or if I have wheels that weigh less than stock or if it take weight off the car or etc. not saying the g37 is not a good car I’m just saying if your going for speed the 2.0t Accord wins if your going for nice engine sound and possible turbo or supercharging in the future which will cost you a lot of money more like 6k-8k then the g37 is the one but you will also probably have to build the engine as well so it can handle all that extra power.

For anyone that doesn’t know try to stay away from early vq37 motors from 08-12 due to the dreaded oil gasket gallery gaskets and can cause catastrophic engine issues. If you are spend the money to change it to a metal gasket since it was made out of plastic or rubber. I would honestly get an oil pressure gauge if you have the earlier vq37 models to monitor your oil pressure. I can’t stress this enough. I believe this applies to the HR motors as well. It’s an expensive repair from 2-3k at least for labor the parts itself is cheap. Some folks out there including myself was lucky enough not to experience this. Since I’ve owned a couple of earlier models like an 09 g37 sedan, 08 g37s coupe and 2010 g37 sedan. Ranging from 70-140k miles at the time.

We have owned a 2007 g35x, a 2011 FX35, and now we own an Armada. Its better to stay away from the "x" model to avoid AWD issues. Our FX35 was AWD and had 209k miles and had a sluggish shift upon acceleration. Engine was leak free and ran smooth as could be. Also, insureance is very high but the book value is higher. Our insureance quoted $11k if totaled on our FX35 with 209k. Gas cost us $100+ to fill up which was our reasoning for letting it go. Our Armada costs half to fill up and fuel consumption seems to be better. Infiniti is just expensive. Love them. But they are money pits when repairs are needed and repairs on them are a little more complicated.

Getting tuned helps but I'd say it's all about what gear you're in and rpm . Tune wakes it up a little but still NA you aren't gonna notice too much of a difference. You would probably notice the difference more by resetting the ECU

@@koreazilla I mean in the nicest way fam, you ain't got a clue what you talking about.
Reseting the ECU won't net you any gains, at best, resetting the ECU after mods will allow the car to learn to adjust fuel trims to run clean with those mods. But it will NEVER take advantage of those mods without proper tuning.
It is true that turbocharged cars have a lot more tunability, but that is because they're not limited by volumetric efficiency, the turbo has the ability to modulate intake manifold pressure. Whereas the amount of air an NA car can flow is limited to displacement. This means there is a set limit where you can add fuel before it starts to run lean and you can only push ignition advance so far before you are no longer getting a complete burn.
However, tuning to reach that limit or even with 20% of it will feel significantly different to a base stock tune. The difference is night and day depending on what mods you do.
The best comparison, just comparing motor to motor is the Coyote 5.0. The VQ37VHR is pretty much a much smaller Coyote 5.0 in terms of it's features.
DOHC, Variable Valve Timing, responds well to tunes that maximize air flow, responds well to boost, low torque down low but a very strong top end.
      That's what you're dealing with.
Are turbos better? Yes, no question.
Is larger displacement with a similar engine layout better? Yes, no question, the 5.0 stock rivals a fbo tuned VQ37VHR, and will almost always take it top end.
But the 5.0 is no slouch and of the V8s, it is the fastest. So that puts us, mods and all, right in that category.
Pretty much a Japanese muscle car

I just got one for 7k, I'll be real, it had some issues that had to be worked out, I've easily put around 3k into the car in addition to turning some wrenches myself, but it's a good car all things considered so far. It needed brakes, tires, fluids, had multiple exhaust leaks, flex pipe, control arms, alignment, and a front suspension subframe piece
I was able to do brakes, fluids, and the suspension piece myself cuz I used to work in the shop but I had to take it in for the exhaust and control arms. I did the tires too, because I can operate a tire machine still.
I saved some money in some places, but yeah still costed me 3k with what I had to pay someone else to do.
I was looking for a long time before I found one, it only had 92000 miles when I got it. Once all is said done, it'll be ready for mods come summer 2023 and I plan to hold onto it for awhile. Excellent car.
Edit: I'm gonna push back on them not being legitimately fast. So, I've only had it for a brief while now and in the process of fixing it like I mentioned, I have done some small mods or kept what mods had already been done.
My G37x only has drop in filters, muffler delete, resonators, custom y pipe, and test pipes with no tune. I have ran almost dead even with cars like the 6.2l Camaro SS, and that car has anywhere to 426-455hp. Yes, he's RWD and I'm AWD, but fact is, I ran dead even with him until we pretty much ran to the end of the strip.
I ran with a SRT 392, he did beat me, yes, he pulled pretty much straight away. But, he only got maybe one car length ahead and didn't really get much further than that. My front bumper was maybe 3 feet from his rear bumper.
And I don't even have intakes, I don't even have a tune. These cars make not be crazy fast, but compared to other middle of the pact performance cars and the average NA V8, you can do some incredible things with the car. I am excited to see what the car can do when I get intakes, e85 flex fuel tuned, and I put headers and a plenum spacer on.

Imma save this car, no better example worth saving that I can find. She has little rust, fairly low miles, and motor and trans still healthy, she just needs some things to make her right.
Perfect for an ex mechanic with two jobs
Fact is, if you get one for 5-10k, expect to put money in it. As said in this video.
If you want one that won't need work YET, then you looking at 12-18k
