Wow he was in his early 60's and still looked so great & he was such a great actor! I am so sad that his last few years of his life were so very difficult & he was in so much pain. RIP dear David. You won't be forgotten.

Miss E I agree. He looked amazingly youthful far longer than most. Such a terrible shame the way he ended up. He should have had another good 20 years at least.

Cathy O - I know it is just so sad. I think this last divorce & feeling he lost his whole family, he just gave up. In 2014 in the interview with Piers Morgan, he said he knew if he started drinking again it would kill him, and that's just what he did. Just so sad - like you said - at least another 20 years. Will always miss him - such a huge part of the little good that was in my childhood.

Miss E Something definitely triggered his downfall over the last few years because he was looking so healthy and robust and handsome well into middle age.😢

From what I see here, David was an awesome actor, as well as the Partridge family. From what I have read, the main thing he wanted in life was for his dad to accept & love him. Then he wanted to be a dramatic actor. He didn't get his dad's love or acceptance. And never really got the acting like he wanted either. Sadly.

He could have done so much more in acting if given the chance. He could have been the hot guy, the villain, comedy, drama---anything. He got shortchanged there. Not enough opportunities to do what he loved in acting. A loss for us.

I think you're right. For all he had--it was what was missing that affected him the most it seems. He seemingly wanted his father's approval so badly. IMHO, that affected much of his life. But he said time and again that he wanted to be a serious actor and he was robbed of that. You can have the whole world--which he did--but if you lack the thing you desire, life can be unfulfilling and empty in many ways. Sort of armchair analysis but it seems to fit.

Veronica Zrnchik - yes you are right. I know he just wanted that love & approval from his dad and never got it. It elluded him all his life. It also seems that he never got that one true love relationship where he felt whole & complete. My heart still breaks for him, and I hope he's finally gotten that validation now. I just watched the episode of Police Story that he was in back in the day - that just shows why he was nominated that year for an Emmy.

Yep. I think that he never got validated from his dad and that lead to him never feeling like he deserved the accolades he received. He said it himself many times. Very selfish and screwed up parents can damage a child for their whole life. He clearly struggled always looking for what he couldn't get. Such a charmed life in so many ways--but not in the ways he wanted apparently. He made lots of money for others and he had lots himself--but that gnawing emptiness is what dominated his life it seems. Bad relationships, divorces, alcohol..... It will always be a tragic story and I agree--I hope he is at peace now.

Veronica Zrnchik this was actually in 2003 it says on the David Cassidy website. He was 53 and so good looking.
He would’ve gone a long way in acting. But, we would’ve never had his music.
