Already The Goat For me nobody could achieve what Poatan Achieved so Fast. 2x Glory champ , 2x UFC CHAMP end 5 ex Ufc champs defeated.
I just can't see him as the Goat. He was fast tracked to the title, been spoon fed striker after striker(outside of Jan), and is probably fighting in the most shallow and unimpressive 205 division in history.
No fault of Alex, but his opponents lack the diversity and his run lacks the longevity for me to see him as the Goat
I don't know that he's there yet, but he's already in the top 10, if not top 5. I think it's very likely he ends up as the GOAT though. If he keeps this up for another couple of years, and especially if he wins the heavyweight belt, he will be the GOAT.

Alex periera is already in the top 7 Goat imo not just in UFC but at whole combat sports. He's 2 division UFC and 2 division Glory kickboxing champion and defended light heavyweight belt 3 times already within a year. So if he goes up at Heavyweight and becomes champ or at least defend light heavyweight title for 4 more times then he's without a doubt one of the at least Top 4 Goat of Combat sports

I'm a huge fan of Khalil ROundtree now .. THat man is a warrior; His gameplan had some very strong points. the 2 piece over the top of the leg kicks and straights. Hit some nice shots.. Rocked Alex... Never showed any fear. Stood in and traded. Just got broken down in later rounds. I think He will be back on this stage. I like his chances vs the rest of the pack to make his way back up.

Alex Pereira is my favourite current fighter in the ufc. He's an absolute beast and almost always finishes his opponents.
But he's nowhere near the goat. He's been in the ufc for 2+ years, never been against a grappler and been knocked out by Izzy who was probably weighed a full weight class lighter on fight night.
Why can't we just say he's the most exciting fighter of this current era. Simple as that. People love to watch him fight. He gives the fans what they want to see.
I never believed that this fight will last longer than 2 rounds. Mad respect for Khail he showed that he had a hearth of a warrior. But the punishment that he took
in round 3 and round 4 were brutal and can have impact of his health. Alex also showed that he has solid chin at 205 and stamina to go for championship rounds.
Ankalaev and poatan have the same amount of submissions, by the way

I’m all in for Alex at heavyweight but this Ankalaev fight had got to happen first. It keeps getting talked about and not happening. If he gets the win there he’s cleared out majority of top contenders but whether people say he’s deserving or not. Like he may have had a weird last few fights but he has lost in a long while. He’s a dagestani wrestler and we haven’t seen that style against Alex yet. Islam didn’t need all these big name wins to get a title shot.
Periera is top 10 for sure but not top 5 level yet especially since he never had to face great wrestler so it is still yet to seen how he hold up with someone like Ankalaev.

@@glaubercandidopita He fought with jan the guy pereira went to split decsion with and was taking jan down easily and jan was being easily outwrestled by Ankalaev. Although it was a draw many people thought Ankalaev should have won. He did just as well with Jan as did pereira. It will be tough fight for periera. I am not saying Pereira will lose but it is a tough stylistic matchup and Ankalaev is on 9 fight unbeaten streak.

Technically, he can't be the GOAT of MMA due to his loss. That's between Jon Jones, Islam Makhechev, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Ilia Topuria, if you ask me. But we've definitely never seen anything like him before. Ill go as far as to say that he's the only Alex Pereira, in his own lane and he doesn't need to be the GOAT. His name alone has already become legendary and what he's doing is unprecedented. I can't even think of anyone to compare him too. He's a different kind of unique.
