BRE Global wants everyone to enjoy their Christmas. Check your tree lights for electrical safety and if you have a real Christmas tree make sure it is regularly watered.
I used to go round and round with my sister about live trees. I told her that wether you live or die depends on which side of the tree you are on. If you are by the door, you will make it out. Otherwise, forget it. And she had three little girls at the time. I live on a few acres out in the county. Several years ago, I burned a christmas tree for her. I think she gets it now. Thanks for posting such valuable info. Merry Christmas to all From Texas!
The real lessons here are - if someone walks into your house in a yellow hat, don't let them light a fire under your tree - if they do light a fire under your tree, ask the camera crew in your living room to help you move the chair that you like best - always wrap crappy gifts before Christmas eve, and swap them with real ones on Christmas eve, unless you bought fire insurance for each gift - always have a firefighter and a hose in the living room, just in case
I was a FDNY fireman and worked with an older fireman who lost his father and brother in a Christmas tree fire when he was young. He had burn scare on his arms from trying to rescue them
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to the smoke alarms just to go by the stairs and just see your entire downstairs engulfed in flames. You'd have no choice but to go out the window. Someone would likely lose their life or get seriously injured. It would be absolutely terrifying and the rest of the family would be traumatized for a very long time following it. And that's why you get FAKE Christmas trees.
it may not have been flashover yet, but remember, heat rises, so what happeners is that the top of the door ignited, and then the part just below it ignited, and so on creating a downward cascade of flame.
That's true. To me, it just seems like the flashover happened a little fast... although I know dry trees would go up that fast. I only question it because videos in the past have used accelerants, which is fine by me if it gets people to be safer on Christmas.
I have a pre-lit tree I love it but I never leave it on when I leave the house or at night when I go to bed people makes a huge mistake turning on a tree and leaving the room for long periods of time I don't like real trees they are pretty but the danger is there and some are cut weeks before they are sold so they are dry when you get it, if your buying a tree ask when it was cut, drill into the center of the stump and soak it in a bucket of water at least over night before you bring it in, I also suggest you spray it off to get rid of all the bugs and rehydrate it somewhat, check the wiring on the lights your going to put on the tree and don't overload the outlet or suggested wattage for the drop cord I use the ones with a over load safety switch
there's another video in which flashover happened really fast. It's called dry scotch pine tree fire. And the whole room goes up in less than a minute. THe only reason the whole room doesn't actually combust is because the room runs out of oxygen and fills with smoke.
Holy crap that fire was flashover in less than a minute scary stuff man. The way I see it is that house fire are extremely uncommon to happen especially now days but you should know all the precautions just incase it ever does happen
Until electric Christmas tree lights became common in the 1920s, people lighted actual candles on indoor Christmas trees - which as we can see here, was insanely stupid.
Check out how the wood on the door ignites on the left edge of the video at 0:48. I know how fire spreads and this is not a flashover. The door wasn't even smoldering and the flame moved down the door. Accelerants were used.
I once tried to explain to some kids in the neighborhood who were messing around with fireworks during an extreme drought just how quickly they could get overrun by a wildfire and they scoffed at me. I wish I had had this video available when I was talking to them. My conversation might have had a different outcome. Some kids nowadays can be extremely rude and reckless.
@redskull83 Probably because this was a simulated burn, whose purpose was to educate viewers on the importance of fire safety, especially around the Christmas tree.
I agree with you there, real trees are too much work, not eco friendly, animals live in them so that could be somebody's home that has been chopped down, they are way too messy as the needles fall off it and when you decorate it, you can prick yourselves on the needles, you have to buy a new one every year so you spend lots of money and they only come in green, artificial Christmas trees come in black, rainbow, gold, blue, snowtipped, with pine cones and berries.
Growing up, my dad always told me to be careful with pine trees because they will burn just as surely as gasoline. Watching this, he was definitely right. Hell, gasoline might actually be slower.. holy shit.
Now THAT is a flashover! How many old Christmas trees I lit up over the years is uncountable! They go up like gasoline! That many BTUs released that fuckin' fast in a closed room has got to be one of the fastest ways to flash a room short of atomized diesel fuel!
this is why i dont put fake trees up i have old lights from 2000s and they're pretty and. my Christmas tree is fake and so. i always just set up a couple of decorations.
One of the very first applications of the electric light bulb after it was invented (1882) was for christmas tree lighting-much safer than candles and cut down on tree fires. That nice looking old card with the candles on the tree was a recipe for instant fire disaster! The new LED lights are even safer (much less heat), still keep your tree watered and away from sources of fire & heat.
I work at a science lab and my mentor (our lab's Environmental Health and Safety Manager) links this video to our Christmas tree safety topic every year. He really loves it because it's a great visual for what can happen if you're not careful. I'll have to bookmark this video and continue the tradition of sharing it every year after he retires xD
Joke? If you don't water real tree's they dry up. If you watered a plastic one with lights built in...... electricity and water + cheap thin plastic = fire
This is why my family prefers fake trees over real ones. Sure, real trees are nice and they smell good, but an electrical fault can spell disaster. Like what happened here. The room was engulfed in flames in just 45 seconds after first flame
On March 31 2018 Sunday 2 am my cousins sleeps at the living room then he wake up and saw the fire he screamed and called my grandad then I woke up and called my mother and my sisters luckily my Granny was so smart he says that put water in the blangket and put it on the fire then the fire was gone now thnx to God for saving us.

Every time I watch these videos it makes me keep going to the Christmas tree and go back and keep repeating it over and over
That might have been the fastest progression to flashover I've ever seen. Damn
Yes!!!!!!
Are you serious?
This video burned my computer and made my hose at 50 degrees celsius!
I love this video.
It,s also a good idea to use LED type lights due to their very low current draw and virtually no heat.
And a happy new year!
the GRINCH with a worker costume lit it....
That's why I'm glad that I celebrate Hanukah
Whyd they decorate the tree so nicely? xD so much work!
It's fun. Cheers!
“Mom why is the dude in the yellow hat burning down our room”
Christmas is a very safe and beautiful time:
The tree that you haven’t taken care of: are you sure about that 0:36
what a shame, such a nicely decorated and cozy looking room:)
but so amazing how fast and devastating the fire can be!!!
I was a FDNY fireman and worked with an older fireman who lost his father and brother in a Christmas tree fire when he was young. He had burn scare on his arms from trying to rescue them
They weren't kidding when they said all you have time for is to get the fuck out of the house as fast as possible.
Wow...Santa used to leave a bag of rocks to naughty kids.

Even if it is hundreds of years, life is short

@CalinDemian Have you ever used dry pine branches to get a fire going, or lit a pine cone on fire?
a big tear comes out looking at this
Wow, the Christmas tree caught fire really fast! 😮
Boy that spread quickly !
R.I.P. presents
0:42 when I wake up and see my tree on fire
there's another video in which flashover happened really fast. It's called dry scotch pine tree fire. And the whole room goes up in less than a minute. THe only reason the whole room doesn't actually combust is because the room runs out of oxygen and fills with smoke.
0:26 holy cow it burns like a rocket fuel
I think you should water it first then turn on
O_O my god! that was fast!!
Yes u should keep ur xmas tree watered but what if u have lights on it as many homes will?
Do you smell smoke ? Honey ... Do you smell smoke ?
What was that guy watering it with at the beginning of the video? Pcp and jet fuel?
Holy crap that fire was flashover in less than a minute scary stuff man. The way I see it is that house fire are extremely uncommon to happen especially now days but you should know all the precautions just incase it ever does happen
Santas blooming naughty!

That tree's balls dropped lol

Flashover in 60 seconds flat. Fun stuff.
@redskull83
Probably because this was a simulated burn, whose purpose was to educate viewers on the importance of fire safety, especially around the Christmas tree.
@hebneh I can remember that, as a kid. Even then, I thought it was a very unwise idea.
Here's the best Christmas tree fire safety tip: NEVER BUY A REAL TREE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
@@eleanorhogan8643 True.
Usually it doesn’t matter if the trees are real it just matters if you water them. But that’s a big thing that comes into play
@@eleanorhogan8643 artifical trees are less eco friendly smh
Yep mothernature is a bitch
thanks reddit!
was thinking of getting a real tree this year, for Xmas but after seeing this video I think I will stick with my plastic tree because you never know
at 45 sec. there might not be a way out. scary
NOT THE HOLE ROOM
for a Christmas tree fire it only takes up to 1 minute that is a fast flash over
It went to flashover in literally one minute
Its not just real trees. U can buy plastic 1s that have lights etc built in 2 them. These can overheat.
Why you no save ze presents?
Growing up, my dad always told me to be careful with pine trees because they will burn just as surely as gasoline. Watching this, he was definitely right. Hell, gasoline might actually be slower.. holy shit.
Surprise! Warm house!
Protecting people and the planet
But they couldn’t protect their wallets

Amazing, I see volunteer fire depts selling these things.
Nasty mouth. Good script.
+Judy Mcholley You are right, I will change it, got a little too mouthy on that one, criticism appreciated.
Me who is now thinking of arson:😃

fire in the hall!!!!
plough-goth-aaah
It's a very nice video, but I have to note completely wrong use of nozzle jet.. It should have been in dispersed mode.
Trust me, pine trees really do go up in flame that quickly. :S
See the blazing yule before us. Cheers!

Merry Christmas!
"Yeah I got something to light up the tree with."
Mk.
this was just a test
So no engaging in that festive tradition of soaking the Christmas tree in petrol this year, ok!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I watered my plastic tree and this happened
Joke? If you don't water real tree's they dry up. If you watered a plastic one with lights built in...... electricity and water + cheap thin plastic = fire

i hope that was a staged room...
toasty :) xD
This is why my family prefers fake trees over real ones. Sure, real trees are nice and they smell good, but an electrical fault can spell disaster. Like what happened here. The room was engulfed in flames in just 45 seconds after first flame
And now you can buy scent rods, to give you that real tree smell.
Don't try in the home
I have a better suggestion: Don't allow in the home.
Este maldito símbolo de ilusões tem que queimar mesmo, não foi em vão...Acorda mundo!
Is this an insurance fraud "do it yourself" video?
On March 31 2018 Sunday 2 am my cousins sleeps at the living room then he wake up and saw the fire he screamed and called my grandad then I woke up and called my mother and my sisters luckily my Granny was so smart he says that put water in the blangket and put it on the fire then the fire was gone now thnx to God for saving us.
I'm never putting a tree in my house again, spread instantly!
