I think loot boxes can work, as in game earnable bonuses. Vermintide 2 essentially uses loot boxes awarded for completing a level. They should also have a set way of targeting things you actually want as the RnG can be extremely punishing, but they have no way whatsoever to purchase a loot box outside of earning it via level completion or challenge completion. A "Surprise Mechanic" can be quite fun when it costs no money and you earned it whilst playing normally :)
@rhykker Turtle Rock is working on something like a new L4D game called "Back 4 Blood". VALVe and TRS have history so since VALVe gave up on the genre maybe they passed the torch back to TRS. Both games use the "4" in the title so this may be a L4D3 replacement.
Iv played it through at least 10 times xD Even started a new play through just a couple of weeks ago. Still plays well even with its age IMO. Also I like the dungeons and dragons style combat. I imagine the combat style will be lost in the new game but oh well still can not wait.
If the argument for or against something amounts to "it's for the children", then it should be looked at with heavy scrutiny. If you have to appeal to people's emotions rather than good reasoning and sound logic, then it points to your argument having ulterior motives. There's a much simpler way of solving this problem of children being exposed to such things, which is for parents to take responsibility for what their kids are doing. Children don't *need* to have a mobile device, and even if they have one, their parents should be paying attention to everything they are using it for and putting rules and limitations on the device's usage.

Median XL or MXL is a very well designed total conversion mod, it is MUST try atlewst once, its end-game is very well done, yet, is still worth atleast a baseline playthrough.

Hey Rhykker, you need to check out Path of Diablo. The new ladder season just started with huge updates to the mod. It's the best d2 mod available that doesn't change huge amounts of the base game.

Stadia and server side systems in general could be awesome to do things traditional systems can’t. But as a direct competitor to those systems it doesn’t work.
I feel that game streaming services are the debit/credit cards of gaming. You no longer get a tangible or digital copy of a game (physical money) - you just get a box (credit card) that says you own the games - but you don't actually possess anything and if you don't have an internet connection (card scanner/atm) then you cannot use your games (money) even though you allegedly "own them and possess them". Or consider it a version of Uber, where the company still provides rides to people but at minimal cost to the company and all of the maintenance costs etc are pushed to the end user. What you save in PC cost will be spent in the long term by having to pay for a higher tier internet package to compensate.
Honestly, "hi-res" is misleading; I went to the site to see the full effect and for most objects it really just looks like they turned on anti aliasing and added a sharpening filter. For effects such as the fire it's worse, in that it smooths and sharpens everything so much that it looks almost cartoony, which is the worst word someone can use when it comes to the hardcore D2 fans that this may appeal to.
Rhykker you gotta try DevilutionX Diablo 1 portable on an emulator console, I'm playing it on the RG350 console and it's oh so perfect. Analog stick controls work great.

Stadia was available in November, many see it's release to be in February with the Base version. Stadia is basically free. Stadia is incredibly good at what it is designed to do, that is to play anywhere. One game price to play on all devices. If I'm not mistaken, Stadia has had the biggest catalogue of any platform release? I read this headline somewhere, not confident in proof. Stadia is also first generation, that is forever a generation. Unlike generic consoles that have a life of only a few+ years. Again, all for free. To play online multiplayer, for free, on any device. It has problems yes, but it does everything perfectly that it advertised, 4k aside.
In theory it's a decent idea (Stadia) but for it to really be popular, it has to be cheaper. 130 for 3 months? Mate add that up for 20 years. I bet that it's more than I've spent overall on my PC, with games and even keyboards and mice.

Don't feel bad that d3 didn't have the proposed idol/charm system, it would have literally been the same as the current legendary gem system. In witch the same 3-5 gems/idols/charms are BiS required for end game grifting. Blizz put them on necks/rings instead of its own slots.
Sounds like the same work around used by Pachinko Parlours in Japan.. literal gambling but you can't cash out; instead you just get different toys and various colored tags. Which you then take literally 30 seconds across the street to a different establishment that converts them to the corresponding cash value..

Don't feel bad that d3 didn't have the proposed idol/charm system, it would have literally been the same as the current legendary gem system. In witch the same 3-5 gems/idols/charms are BiS required for end game grifting. Blizz put them on necks/rings instead of its own slots.

Sounds like the same work around used by Pachinko Parlours in Japan.. literal gambling but you can't cash out; instead you just get different toys and various colored tags. Which you then take literally 30 seconds across the street to a different establishment that converts them to the corresponding cash value..

I think the lootbox thing is much more about protecting the quality of the video game market than it is about protecting children. These companies have utterly destroyed AAA games and their attempts to suck insane amounts of money out of consumers without providing any real compensation is disgusting.
Well it feels like stadia is in beta still, they have buy in so testers can test it first.
I want modern resolution support for D2, 1440p and 144hz, I'll take 1080p 60hz

Google Stadia with it's own little Reverse Midas spearheading it's glorious ascendance needs *MORE EXCLUSIVES?* Rhykker, are you out of your mind? You *do* understand Google can buy *any* -- and I mean _literally any_ number of game developer companies? How about D3 and D4, PoE, Wolcen and Last Epoch all becoming Google Stadia exclusives? Google can arrange that for you in just 2-3 months. Epic Gamestore's bold monopoly scam attempt didn't succeed only because Epic has a somewhat limited amount of money. Google has no such problem. And even Epic has driven the industry into a position from which quite a lot of companies involved will never recover and potentially good projects will be lost. Imagine the havoc Google can wreak on the industry with their resources. And if Google pulls the plug on it's Stadia, you can kiss goodbye to your games, investments and progress there, unless you back it up with Steam. Wake up, Rhykker, please.
