Like threading a needle in a wind tunnel! Nicely done by the Saginaw! Great video, hope you got thawed out OK. Thanks for braving the weather to get it. Cheers!
Nice "Kodak moment" @1:05 with the diehard boatnerds braving the wind and blowing snow to welcome the Saginaw back to Duluth. The Saginaw's crew makes it look easy, but I'm sure everyone in the pilot house was focusing on getting through the canal while dealing with the wind.
Your videos this winter are truly wonderful, I feel like I'm there freezing alongside! I am glad these big ships are all heading into winter layup, the weather is getting idiot cold now, they need rest! And you stay warm and safe out in it too, Mark!
Thanks for watching! Boats typically only repaint when they dry dock every five years for inspection… due to environmental regulations about sandblasting the old paint. But a lot of fleets skip repainting, because it’s a million dollar investment (on average) that will just rub off again in a couple of years. The US fleets are better about repainting than the Canadian fleets, it seems.

The much colder weather came later that night, if you believe it. Same wind, just 15 degrees colder! 🥶
Thaks for another great video! Enjoy the off season❤❤
Thanks Cathy! Lots more videos yet to come. 🙂

I think we all had a moment where we were questioning our sanity while standing there! 😆
Thank you! Another Beautiful Classic. I watched her come through. The skill it takes to enter the canal!? Beautiful job 1 Long 2 Short!!!
Thank you Alex! They did well with the tough conditions!
Wow! Amazing dedication in getting thus! THANKS!!😊😊😊😊
Thanks Diane! It made for a very chilly day! 🥶
So great to see her! 🧡
photographing ships in the winter? Dedication to the craft I see, seems you don't have to be crazy but it helps!

Damm that just looks cold I can only imagine what it must have felt like there
It felt just like it looks. 😁
Man! That looks sooo cold! Do they remove rust and repaint each year? Thanks for the videos.

Gray and white skies, gray and white ship, and the canal full of gray water this looked like a black and white production. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, not much color to see on a day like this!
