Thanks @KellenRae, pretty cool. Afterlife looks pretty insane, I think I wanna try it out. The vanilla 7d2d is getting old. Good luck out there, nice shooting btw :)
yh this mod is beyond hardcore, ive downloaded a couple of weeks ago and tried it twice on perma death settings and i died both times before the horde night. both the crafting system and skills have been revamped and are a bit complicated what makes it very interesting. building a base from scratch is very work intensive mainly because you cant carry that much weight(wood and stone) and also because of wandering hordes is hard to stay in the same place too long farming. ive been following pretty much every video on youtube about afterlife and, dont take it the wrong way, you seem like you are seeing it for the first time and dont understand it imidiatly but that would make it very interesting to see your progress so im looking forward to see a series about this mod. also im pretty sure the policeman or the normie are the better characthers for first time playthrous as they allow you to do the tutorial however i also pick savage for the capacity to locate your bed roll since getting a map will be a mid game achivement and progression is very slow. gl hf
I am very much seeing this mod for the first time. I knew i would hate it before I even installed it. Crafting is ridiculous. But in an actual apocalypse, I'm pretty certain i could never figure out how to craft an arrow, much less 50 of them. And i used to be a competitive target archer! So the realism is what caught my eye about this mod and what will make me try it again. I'm just not sure how many tries my sanity can handle. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@KellenRae i totally agree with the sanity thing, iam the same. especially considering that this mod forces you to take your battle with zombies with much more though considering the perma infection. the fact that you need to furniture your base for comfort instead of making a dead beat factory bunker and the slow progression can force a save to last much longer, i typically play until day 30 where i feel that iam already much stronger that zombies but i can foresee that wont happen in this mod especially considering that there is ton more weapons in each skill tree making it harder to reach the top guns and the possibilty for zombies evolving much more than in the typical vanilla normal-feral-radiated. ive been a fan of apocalipse and survival genre since i remember and i too wonder how the hell am i supposed to craft arrow shafts in real life XD it comes to a point where i would just prefer to throw small rocks another thing this mod does that is very interesting is the possibility to craft crafting books from literature scraps so it makes you considered very deeply what you intend to research first like forged ahead or your prefered weapons and what youwant to scrap. the diferent types of zombies are also very interesting and intriguing, i dont want to spoil too much but the spider zombies give a new meaning to the word, ive not yet seen a single cop which makes me worry and the vanilla useless bazooka takes on a very different role in this mod XD and you might have noticed that they have diferent colour palletes and eye colours too but i still dont understand that fully. i have a couple hundred of hours in vanilla so i would say that i know the game pretty well. there hasnt been new games that i find that interesting or that my pc can handle so if there is something i really apreciate about this game is that allow gamers to create new mods and keep the game fresh and so you can confidently say that there is no two saves alike

The game needs a Resident evil themed overhaul mods, so it's not just zombies and animals. And more guns and varieties, doesn't need to be super realistic but fun and immersive.

Be sure to never eat blueberries until AFTER you make yourself a map (you can also get blue paste from scrapping blue dye). You'll be a long ways off from ever having a compass and wristwatch (if ever). They are both very rare to loot. I love the "Learn by Doing (LoD)" that they re-introduced in this mod, I find that it is a better method to give character progression in skills. But they have in many instances added painful grind all in the name of realism. Realism should not be at the expense of fun. For example, their addition of many more ore types than those found in vanilla. It does direct you to progress through the different stages of biome difficulty in order to find the right ores for the metal type needed, but it quickly becomes a chore to have to keep mining all the coal and different ores at each stage. And the length of time needed to smelt things down will have you putting down 2-4 forges just to meet demand. There is also a lot of balance issues at this point of their development. You quickly progress to where you will loot better items than you can craft. In most cases it makes it a waste of effort to work up skill lines to make yourself better armor/weapons when you can just loot versions significantly better quality than what you can currently craft. Once you figure out what loot crates have tons of ammo, you'll never need to craft any ammo until you start to want to use AP ammo. Even early game you can be overstocked with ammo if you target the right POI locations that have the appropriate ammo crates.
Wow, lots of information that's filling me with curiosity as well as dread! What did I get myself into? I've never been into crafting ammunition. I always found plenty of it so I don't keep the mats for bullets. Obviously I haven't even found a firearm yet in Afterlife, so we'll see when that happens and what it is.
