was the only place I could afford to buy a house in1976 whilst working at Cricklewood as a loco driver!!! £9100.00 for a two bedroom semi on churchill road!!!
I remember the Queens visits she was dressed in yellow, To look at Luton in the 50s is now a land we forget, what it is now bears no resemblance to that once proud town. Anyone remember blundells ?
Yes, and I remember they still used those vacuum tube thingies for cash and receipts. Also remember the Co-Op superstore, even the old library and swimming baths before they trashed it for the wretched Arndale. I was sitting on my dad's shoulders for the Queen's visit and I had to tell him what I could see.
That's out of line. Filth? Our town is beautiful! In the years I have lived here, there's so much to celebrate. So much culture, so much life and community. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Luton. There is so much beauty to discover, how sad it is that you are unable to recognise such things.
true man I think you’ll find you’re pointing the ‘bigoted finger’ in the wrong direction. It was you referring to ‘filth’ arriving in our culturally fruitful town, and it was me who was celebrating it :)
I worked at the Chicken Kitchen West Side Centre as night manager for about 3 years, 25:35' until I moved to the Isle of Wight,

Fascinating, especially in later years
They knock down some lovely old buildings
@@seansands424you look know and the town is pretty much destroyed.
My God the 1960s architects and town planners have something to answer for.
The demolition of so many historic buildings is so depressing.
Pity the video wasn’t clearer. Hard to try and see if I could see a very young parent as a boy.

The stench came from the East.
What ? The smell of weed and alcohol came from the east??!
That’s the smell of your missus’ fanny mate.
It was nice before "they arrive".
Before all the filth arrived :(
