I’m not a country music fan… But do do love alternative n singer\songwriter stuff and some folk. I’ve loved this album for 35yrs n keep coming back to, listened to it often as a 10year old doin chores at my Aunts house. Was one of the first album I made myself learn the lyrics to. I wish she made it big. Such beautiful writing and voice
I agree with all of this except Matraca not making it big. As a songwriter she is phenomenally successful. Just look at the BIG names singing on “Back In The Saddle”. She wrote hits for every one of them. Then there’s “When We Were Beautiful” covered by Emmy Lou Harris. Most songwriters would think 5 or 10 hits was great - well Matraca has a lot more.
First time I heard this song I was in the hospital recovering from surgery. I didn't have cable at home and was making the most of watching music videos. Loved this song! Bought the CD and every one she has released since. It's a shame she's not a big name entertainer in country music. She definitely has the talent! ❤️
OMG...that voice. I would listen to her -- and I'm not a country fan -- no matter what genre of music she chose to sing. Discovered Matraca in Made In Heaven. Sorry Martha, but Matraca 'owns' that Neil Young gem.
Matraca's way too good for" mainstream Nashville Country" ironically that's why she's not a household name.. a genius song writer who is a cut way way above the rest. buy anything she's made.
I remember this video when it first aired.
You were my favorite.
Back when we were beautiful.
Dayam, what a singer!!!

Believe it or not the song that first got me into country music, way back in the early 90s. Great to hear it again. Love those lyrics!
Sing it baby.
I forgot how good she is, I had one of her cassettes, lost it in a move, somehow forgot about her.
One of the better modern Country songs I played in the 90's at Great Valleys Radio.
One of the best debut albums in all of country music. And the Rita Hayworth look is stunning.
I immediately started thinking “Matraca was born in the wrong decade.” She is gorgeous here… in a wholesome way. Totally not cool by 1985…
Just a awesome bluesy song from a wonderful singer.
Texas swing, actually...
Thank you !

Her actual claim to fame is songwriting... No telling how many of her songs have been recorded...
I organized a little rock and blues band about 7 years ago, and this was one of the first songs we covered.
I was asked if I remember this not really but I like it now..
Wow. Great.
Used to perform this as a blues tune in harmony. Great tune!
Great voice 👏

The first time I heard this song I was 19 years old in Texas and my neighbors neice sang it to me.
Lady, don't start with me LOL f*** Hello, foggy everywhere.

A pedal steel solo on a les paul… 😂
Well Pete, that's the magic of music videos!
That OJ Simpson line aged rather poorly....
That line about O.J. didn't age well.
