I loved that there was one cop in each of the incidents that kept talking gently and calmly to the guys, and actually with some respect (not that the other cops in this video didn’t) And they continued to talk calmly despite the resisting arrest or constant insults hurled at them. It was really great to see how the cops still treated them well.
That's EXACTLY what it means! Do you bother to really think about how dangerous a strong man is that is very unhappy with his life? Add a little alcohol...
Worked with the homeless for 14+yrs, and please believe many have this attitude of no accountability. EVERYTHING is EVERYONE elses fault in their lives. Many if not most simply refuse to acknowledge their part in ANYTHING they've done wrong... Between homelessness and going to jail, not being able to be objective about ones life has NO HAPPY ENDING!!
You’re a saint for doing that work - and I would concur - there is obviously context and complexity as with every situation, and I’m sure a range of individuals with different objectives or issues, those with severe mental health issues, those that simply fell on hard times and who are willing to help themselves by cooperating with resources, but as you said, there are also those who blame the world and have zero concept of personal responsibility, who thrive in their perceived victimhood and that attitude is typically accompanied by anti social behaviour and disdain towards others, even if those people are trying to help. You see it a lot when defendants are put on probation, they are handed every resource they could need on a silver platter to help them improve their lives, and many of them just can’t be bothered, coming up with multiple excuses as to why. It’s a spectrum, there are good and bad people in the world, regardless of their situation, and I’m sure you helped as many people as you could while you did that work!
Unfortunately just as much as the homeless people may not always have insight into their predicament, many people who work with them become rather judgmental and suffer from empathy burnout, making them unable to help them effectively. When you blame everyone you’re supposed to be helping for them being homeless, and your attitude towards them is that it’s all their fault, it’s probably time to leave the job to people who are still capable of compassion.
1. I don't believe you've worked with the homeless at all, let alone 14+ years. 2. If you did, you were not capable of it because you clearly have no empathy, no ability to view people as individuals, and no understanding of the psychological and social issues that often lead to homelessness.

Five officers holding him down and it takes 5-8 minutes to get his arms behind him. "I'm Not Resisting!!" That's getting as old as screaming "I can't breath" over and over and over.
That first one is fucking sad. Dude is mentally ill, an addict, and homeless. He has what sounds like an extremely low-risk warrant for not giving an address to the court after being released from jail, or something similar. He is just passing time in a store, not stealing or yelling, yet multiple cops show up super amped up and almost immediately threaten to tase him. They don't give him much time to process what is happening, or make much of an effort to speak to him calmly. I understand why he tensed up. He's confused and scared. He never actually FIGHTS them- he doesn't kick, bite, or spit. I think this just goes to show that police need more training in not immediately escalating a situation that doesn't call for it.
can you blame them? ever talked to the people that run the homeless shelters... some are pretty ignorant, and I wouldn't want to stay there either... jail would be a much better option... I was homeless a few years back too, and staying in jail for a day or two wasn't so bad, you got three square meals and didn't have to worry about getting shanked...
It's always amazing to me how cops are worried about the well being of the person they arrest. On the other hand the arrested person doesn't give a crap if they hurt the cops. Sad how America has turned out.
It started when american aliens stole and walled off wild lands from natives, then forced slaves from africa to die and the work for life..... God bless America!
I hear people say why does it take so many officers? Why are they ganging up on that poor person? Well this video shows how strong this man is even 4 officers have trouble controlling his limbs. You are right they don't get paid enough!!
It’s not strength it’s the fact that they can’t hurt him while restraining so they would rather not only have 1 or 2 ppl and subdue him as quick as possible
Also, unlike the suspect who is following zero rules or laws, the cops aren’t allowed to hurt the suspect. That’s why it’s so stupid when a woman does “tHiS mAnY cOpS fOr oNe LiTtLe GiRl?!?” Yeah. To ensure you don’t hurt yourself resisting. If they were allowed to hurt you no holds barred you would only need an 11 year old boy to get a woman into handcuffs lol.

Then, after insulting, resisting, and cursing officers with the most vile stuff, they’ll ask why the cop is gonna tow their vehicle, for example. Just shameful behavior that they seem completely oblivious to. Most of all, I don’t remember so many having meltdowns after getting cuffed. I hate to be cliche, but they *_acted like adults_* I just think we have a real problem on our hands. I don’t mean any race or gender. In case you're wondering, 13:31 is what a genuinely kind human looks like. She thought about it for a bit but decided not to punish him. To be truly KIND, you need to be self-motivated. If you are kind up until it comes to a situation like this where you could punish a person who inconvenienced or insulted you, you are only NICE rather than kind. Kindness is a genuine personality trait and nice people can never keep up the act when it comes down to the wire in a moment like this.

Fun fact- If 5 officers are struggling to put you in cuffs, and you say "I'm not resisting!" you just might need to look up the meaning of resisting. 😆
I hope we're missing a lot of the action here because I think Sean could have been handled much better, and easier, for everyone. In the first interaction, he ended up identifying himself and giving bumps to the officer. In the beginning of the arrest interaction, the cops are going bonkers trying to hunt Sean down. When we see him walking to the entrance of the store, he seems ok. Then there's a Taser pointed at him. Unnecessary at that point. Everything went downhill from there. He was told he was under arrest. He said "I know. I was just calling my auntie." Taser. Unnecessary.

Wonderful, loving, patient cops. Love them. Great job.

He wants to get arrested cuz it’s a place to stay for the night.

Oh My Goodness, correct that to 6 officers!!
Also each officer has to use less force the more there are reducing the chance they could injured a suspect

I only know from watching COPS on tv, I’ve never been in law enforcement before, but I don’t remember perps in the 80’s and 90’s behaving like these folks today. They *feel* entitled to talk to cops like dogs; entitled to have their phone 24/7 (tbf, I know they weren’t around then), it’s just their whole entitled attitude.
I hate to be cliche, but they *_acted like adults_*

I couldn't be a cop. The amount of bullshit they go through is insane. Not to mention all the ridiculous hate they get online from the 'ACAB' weirdos.
Yeah that's exactly right. Their job is basically impossible. Society has put them in charge of dealing with everyone from people having mental health crises to hardened violent criminals to immature childish petty people, to regular citizens that happen to be breaking traffic laws, etc. It's like they're expected to do about 10 different jobs and expected to be robots/ saints and the public crucifies them if they show any emotion or do the smallest thing wrong. Not to mention they are paid very little and they get hated and disrespected by most of society for no reason.
