The Astrodome will at least at this point never be torn down. The Texas Historical Commission in 2017 voted unanimously to make it an official landmark which means it cannot be torn down or altered without approval from the commission.
I'm from Houston and my Dad pitched for the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals....we were at THE DOME a lot.....it was such a PROUD spot for Houston and filled with so many memories....I can remember the night we took my great-grandma at 88 to see it before she died...I kept thinking they'd come up with some use for it....maybe they still will....fingers crossed!!!
The astrodome should be turned into an indoor water park with an amusement park like they have in Germany. The Germans converted an old blimp building into a water park.
I don’t understand why they allow making old stadiums like the astrodome a historical landmark if they don’t have a set plan for usage and funds to keep it in good shape. Just tear it down and enjoy the memories. Its current state is just depressing
The Astrodome originally used a specific type of Bermuda grass for indoor purposes, but what happened is that the roof created a kaleidoscopic glare which made tracking fly balls difficult, so they painted the panels to make easier (@
I just did some research on the abandoned stadium in Valencia and it's confirmed that they are going to finish building the stadium this year! It's going to be exciting :)
The reason the Metrodome and Kingdom were torn down so quickly was to make room for new stadiums. Also as previously mentioned, the astrodome is protected as a landmark. So there's a big difference as to why some stadiums are torn down quickly and some aren't.
Really happy you broke into a new niche on YT. Pumped for you to get views on these videos long after posting them, unlike the weekly picks videos. Keep it up DG
Although the astrodome is very old, the 60-year-old stadium still doesn't have any further plans for demolition despite the efforts of officials, property owners, etc. and It's very hard to determine the future of the dome. A couple years back it was finally dubbed a historical landmark/place in Houston and is now fenced off with e only plan in mind being dormancy.
Another abandoned stadium is one near my house. McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It was the home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, AAA Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. It was built in 1945, renovated in 1999. Last season before the move to Worcester, Massachusetts was supposed to be in 2020. They literally got taken away. It is scheduled to be demolished sometime this year. It was supposed to come down in March but it's still standing. Very sad that professional baseball is no longer played there. Even more sad that it didn't get a final season due to COVID.
IDEA FOR CONTENT : do some videos going over every finish to like the past 20 or 30 superbowls, the trajectory of teams afterward ect ect.. would love to hear your thoughts on the 28-3 comeback, Seattle not running the ball ect ect!

Turning the astrodome into a parking garage and calling it a revitalization project is such a houston thing to do lmao
I wonder if it would be cool to turn the astrodome into a museum. Maybe like a stadium history museum.
Why do you lowkey sound like Donald Trump lol loving the videos though man. Keep it up!

They didn't implode the Metrodome. They tore it down and took a couple of months.
The Astrodome is on the list of historic places, so it cannot be torn down.

I always think they should completely gut the inside of the Astrodome and turn it into a 25,000 capacity soccer stadium for the Houston Dynamo.
The Astrodome was declared a historic landmark, it legally can’t be knocked down

The Astrodome is a national landmark because it was the first domed stadium
