This looks very interesting, and I can see you passion and knowledge when presenting (both this video and part 1). I know more about PF2e than I do about 5e, and to me I see much more of that system in the changes and improvements you have made than I see 5e. I respect that you are looking to make a simpler/more streamlined system. Since I have heard Mark Seifter mention countless times that Piazo and WotC developed sub-systems in parallel without knowing the other publisher was working on a similar system, I can acknowledge that your designer brain... but when people ask about similarities please try to recognize the similarities (or just say you don't know much about the system they may be asking about) and then pivot to how your system is different and why you think it may be better.
Your mastery system seems very similar (but with the extra level, and probably more flexibility of assigning the points)
Your multi-classing system seems very similar
Your combat system seems very similar (but with the added action, and a few things that I am excited about!)
Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to continuing to follow your progress.

I am so excited for this! I love your take on multiclassing. Having to put the breaks on your character's progress to take a dip in another class was always a bummer in D&D, especially when the party leveled up super slow like my group did. Keep going Coach, this is going to be epic!

the way I rule skill checks, example intimidation, is I as the DM ask you for an Intimidation check which only lists the training bonus, then depending on the situation I will ask for the appropriate stat modifier, if you were being big and scary, Strength, if you were being psychotic and threatening how you were going to kill them, charisma, a display of scary magical power, depending on what your spell casting attribute is I would ask for Int or Cha as the bonus

I have to agree with another one of the comments in here. There's A LOT of similarities to Pathfinder. The mastery system in particular is a standout to me, as well as some of the way skills work. Many of the skills in Pathfinder are generalized for the sake of a broader use, much like in your system. A good example is your trickery skill, it's basically identical to the thievery skill of Pathfinder. Your lore system is also, basically, directly pulled from Pf2e, but with more options (Which isn't bad). Same goes for Awareness for initiative, 2e does it with Perception, and the concept of talents being used for multiclassing is Pathfinders archetype feats.
I love your enthusiasm and drive, but I worry that you'll suffer a lot of direct comparison to what seem to be your biggest inspirations and people will just say to play the other two games over yours. I understand that yours is trying to be a sort of middle ground (easier than Pathfinder, but more robust than DnD) but I find that will be extremely challenging to accuretly execute right in the middle, especially when I find that some of the rules you are creating won't make for a "faster" experience. Your multiple action combat system comes into mind. Pathfinder has a 3 action economy that's, in my opinion, simpler than DnDs, but even that will slow down with players going through analysis paralysis due to options.
I admire your passion, and want you to succeed. The product that seems to be your goal would be a good "middle ground" alternative for the step between the titans mentioned above. Hell, if you succeed it would probably be my secondary system after Pathfinder, since I find DnD super broken and gave it up not so long ago. I'd likely use it to get people interested in the TTRPG space in general. It's just going to be an uphill fight to create the perfect middle ground, imo, especially when I feel a hard lean towards Pathfinder (The crunchier of the two games). I reiterate though, I want you to succeed.
If there's one request I can make is to, eventually, make your system available through Demiplane. I think it would be perfect to onboard players if things go as planned. I think all TTRPGs benefit from accesebilty and belive many great systems aren't more popular simply because they're not accessible. I believe you stand to benefit greatly from a move like that.

I am really digging this system. It applies many mechanics and rules I would homebrew into my dnd games.

Tbh I don't really like 5e, or pathfinder, and I am not even sure why RUclips showed me this video, but you seem so excited, I am glad you are doing what you love. Keep it up.

The variable ability skill checks will probably end up being Prime Skill checks. Unless I missed something.

What's the program you're using to keep all these notes in? I've seen many people use it but haven't been able to find it.

Question: Do you have some crafting rules that integrate monster parts (something like Monster Hunter or Morrowind)? ex: wand build using a beholder eye, dragon armor, land shark helmet, and boot that give you borrow speed?

This will 100% be a kickstarter to be able to launch and print this game system as a book and PDF
I will be releasing the Alpha / Beta to Patrons in the mean time as we develop it :)

I'm concerned about a four ability score system making characters very very one note, this is a problem GURPS and tristat struggle with. You run into the issue of too many things being tied to one stat which narrows the kinds of characters you can make. If you wanna make a cowardly likeable wizard,.well they are going to be good at Will saves because those two stats now define it. You can't make a simple minded but fearless barbarian by stacking up your wisdom, because you need to bump your int for that. It makes an issue of certain characters having holes, flaws, or strengths that character really shouldn't have.

    • @fvc222
      @fvc222 Год назад +1

      II'm not sure about that.
As I see the system I think it's going to be quite easy to make a simple-minded fearless barbarian. I already thought about 2 ways to make it.
The primary ability score is going to be Might. That's what I'll want to max out, secondary is going to be Charisma, tertiary Agility, and dump Intelligence, maybe even a -2. As for the 2 Saves, I'll pick Might and Charisma to which will add out Combat Mastery (the dnd proficiency). Or we can go with Charisma primary and Might secondary.
Now let's be honest this system is in its incipient phase, we've yet to see the class features or the talents (feats) because I don't think you can make a proper fearless barbarian in 5e without the resilient feat or begin your character with a class that gives wisdom saves.
The cowardly wizard. Here I also thought about a few ways but I think this is the most cowardly.
Agility is going to be the primary ability score, Charisma our secondary, intelligence tertiary and we're dumbing down Might, now it's going to be odd since the saves I'm picking to add Combat Mastery are Agility and Might, this way you're going to be the afraid even of your own shadow and fail every will save. And since you're a likable wizard, put all your skill points into whatever knowledge you want or social skill you want.
