Stellar Blade | Performance - Balanced - Resolution | PS5 Modes Comparison & Framerate Test | DEMO

- Опубликовано: 19 сен 2024
- The Stellar Blade demo is released today on PS5 and features 3 graphic modes.
- Performance mode applies a common 1440p resolution at a constant 60fps.
- Balanced mode renders at a common 1440p resolution with a 4K output using TAAU. Its framerate suffers some drop, but maintains its performance at 60fps normally.
- The resolution mode reaches 2160p in exchange for limiting the framerate to 30fps.
- As for the graphic settings, there are no significant changes between modes beyond the anisotropic filtering and the LOD of some distant textures.
- Shadow resolution, drawing distance, ambient occlusion or post-processing (among others) remain the same.
- The possibility of turn off the chromatic aberration effect, which (on a personal level) is exaggerated, is missing.
- As a recommendation, I would choose the performance or balanced mode. Given its nature, 30fps is not an option for a game as frenetic as Stellar Blade and its resolution difference is not that significant.

TAAU es el upscaling de Unreal Engine?

Team Ninja has never been known for Visuals or Performance, even back in the Ninja Gaiden days.
Rise of the Ronin has very enjoyable combat, it’s a mix of Nioh’s aggressive stance switching, ki pulse, stun-locking enemies by destroying their ki, as well as Wo Long’s counter mechanics. It’s just the fact that it’s a ps5 exclusive kinda raises the bar in terms of tech and graphics. It’s understandable, I probably wouldn’t have purchased a ps5 specifically for Rise of the Ronin like I did for Stellar Blade. Still a very good game if you have a ps5.
Rise of the Ronin is an open world while Stellar Blade is linear. Let's enjoy the game thats in the video instead of talking about another game. Rise of the Ronin actually pretty good.
Exactly but the 1440p is still blurry as hell on a 75inch 4K TV 😔
@@Warr3nP3acewhat? Yes team ninja used to be known for visuals and performance. Ninja gaiden black is one of the best looking 60fps games of it's entire generation
1440p @60fps should be the standard for this gen. Anything below is a FAIL and anything above deserves a standing ovation.
Kinda feel like they should be aiming for 2160p for current generation. The PC's been at that for years now, and sticking with 1440p, even with 60fps, already looks poor next to 2160p now. Its going to look really bad as this generation moves on.
@@BateluerWhat are you yapping about my dude? PCs have been at 4k for years? Most people have PCs worse than a PS5, not to mention that most current GPUs don't even allow 4k with 60fps without using upscalers. Looks like a competent dev team, solid performance, great visual and art design. No unnecessary pushing of ridiculously expensive ray-tracing features, good resolutions, and clean menu design. It's really giving me a bit of that 2000-2010 vibe, where games felt...complete, I guess. Idk, we'll have to see the final product, but I'm liking this so far.
Where's the great visual art? Everything except the characters is pretty much bland asset pack territory.

Shift up did a really REALLY good job with Stellar Blade technical performance 😎👍
They did better than FF16 and FF7 Rebirth !! Or Rise of the Ronin !! Every games should get the same treatment on PS5 seriously 🤷♂️
Does it support VRR, though? 🤔 On PS5 devs have to enable it on game by game basis, as far as I know. 🤔
@@Chasm9 For native PS5 games, you can also apply a setting to apply VRR to unsupported games, so VRR becomes enabled for all native PS5 games at a software level. However, for LFC (low framerate compensation, 48fps and below), that does require developer implementation.
@@markus9641 Oh ok, then I confused it with the 120hz mode which can be forced on Xbox in all games while on PS5 it has to be implemented by devs. Thanks 👍

Dragon's Dogma 2: It has good resolution but fails to maintain performance.
FF7 Rebirth: It has good performance but fails to maintain a good resolution.
Rise of the Ronin: Great game, but fails to maintain performance and resolution.
I have to say, after these last 3 games it's quite impressive to see a game with frantic action running at locked 4K/30fps or 1440p/60fps and still offering a balanced mode.
Ff7 rebirth problems is not resolution it’s image clarity it looks like smear. Rotr has lower res than ff7 but looks clear like every other game but yes rotr does suffer from res and perf I really wish they were able to get the graphics mode running at 60fps.

@@abelald1310 You don't need a game to render at 4K to not be blurry, you just need to balance the selection of Post-FX, AA, and Upscaling appropriately to not blur the image too much at lower resolution. Square Enix seem to have gone overboard with those, assuming everyone would play the game in Resolution mode/4K.

How do you set it to balanced mode? Is it in the home screen options?
This is the best performing game recently. FF7 Rebirth has a stable 60fps but internal resolution is blurry. Rise of Ronin cannot stabilize 60fps and the resolution is not high. Let’s not mention Dragon's Dogma 2. The performance is too bad.

How do you feel it? Is like a heavenly sword?
VRR is almost a must for balanced mode. So many small drops make the game look like it has micro stutters while traversing
Perfect, thanks for the video
Honestly 1440p at 60fps is a perfect balance
Even if you choose 720p or 1080p on Balanced youd only really maintain a perfect 60 with a downsampled resolution.
Because of this,i personally would not go even further down to the performance mode unless you truly only have a 720 or 1080 screen with no option to use 1440p/2160p.
Its simple really:
- Performance mode on 720 and 1080p is as smooth as possible, locked 60fps.(yes performance mode works on any resolution)
- Balanced mode is a default but is maxed out at 1440p targeting 60 and hitting it 99% of the time
- Resolution Mode is for a full 4k image but is set to a locked 30fps cap.
I hope this helps but im open to discuss anything about this game.
And yes,I wonder if a VRR update would ever happen and of course I hope PC can eventually get this game for 120+,wide-screen,etc

Cant stand the static overlay on The image nor the amount of chromatic aberration. Wish there was an option to turn both off.
Nice comparison. My only critique is to put the frame time graph next to the frame rate graph instead of above it, if possible. It blocks most of the Performance panel, making it kind of useless for comparison.
