    Great job, thoroughly enjoyed your restoration process and how patient and detailed you were about getting it right. I’m 79 now but as a teenager I worked on a small dairy farm full time and drove two B’s like this one for hundreds of hours. Never lost my love for the John Deere B. Again thanks for the videos.

    Andrew - a very fine restoration you have completed. You're very skilled with this. I'm sure much patience was also involved given it took three years to complete. Nice work and you now have another treasure of history.

    I’ve spent many hours in the seat of a JD B when I was younger. Mine was not a fancy styled version like yours. We had a flywheel to turn by hand to start the engine. But even with the hours driving, I didn’t learn half of what you needed to know to complete your restoration. My hat’s off to you. 👍

    Great job. If you run that in a couple tractor pulls, don’t forget to add a whole lot of weight to the front end; I’d say, 400 lbs should do it; that should keep that front end from lifting skyward.

      I get a lot of used parts on ebay. But that can be hit or miss. If your fine with shelling out some cash you can get a rebuilt one from Steiner or Brillman or I could sell you a rebuilt DLTX 67, which fits a JD B, for 300$ plus $100 core charge.

    Dang, most of the John Deere B's I've seen had a crank flywheel start and pet-cocks that you opened to start the tractor.That electric start version doesn't seem very realistic. You should have gotten an older version. Also, I think most batteries in that era were 6 volts, not 12 volts.

    • @thesmallenginekid
      @thesmallenginekid  11 месяцев назад

      I am looking for an early model B! I have a 1940 hand start H. Early B's are unstyled and hand start, mid-year B's are styled with the battery in the hood or no battery on hand start models, late B's are styled with the battery under the seat. A 12v battery will turn a 6v starter and turn it faster than 6V. Over time the starter will wear out faster on 12v than 6v. And with a 12V battery you need to put a resister before the coil if it is a 6v coil. On this B I swapped the generator/voltage regulator with a simple 12v single wire alternator.
