Been using a backpack for these jobs for years, even before I went wfp. Where possible ( and still do ) I will use the customers outside tap takes abit longer sometimes but saves on using pure water.
I’m a trad guy but I do have a back pack and pole for gutters, fascias and conservatory roofs. I use a garden pump to spray my chemicals, prefer to keep the pure water and chemicals totally separate. It’s budget but works really well.
I use a Karcher pressure washer with a Karcher telescopic pole. That gets a lot off in a short amount of time. When I finish I look it over and decide whether to use the backpack with a stiff bristled brush and some pvc cleaner. I only go over with the backpack if the gutters and fascias are a bit old and discoloured.
which pole ashley did you use with the gardiner back pack for faciasis i have just got my self one one ot each need a flocked brusb next great videos i warch all the time lhave clx 27 pole thanks xx alan from yorkshire x
Great video as always Ash i follow and watch them all, I personally find its alot easier and quicker just to dip your brush in the solution from a bucket apply and agitate with the brush then rinse of like you say from the customers tap, Not sure why you need the pure water after though was it just to demonstrate how much water is used ??, Then like you I put a car washing hand mit over a 6" unger T-bar and get rid of the water drips. I have bought the bigboy backpack v2 last week for where the customer has got no tap. Keep up the good work and vids
Thanks for your comments! I’m glad you enjoy the channel. Of course there is more than one way of doing things, as always, everyone has their own little methods they like to use. Yours sounds great! I also used to use a car wash mitt like you said, until I got the handy sleeve. I am just trying to show another option here. I like to rinse with pure water because the tap water is so hard in my area that you can often see the residue left behind, even on the plastic. So rinsing with pure gives the best finish.😃👍🏼
Not if you have just ordered one from Gardiner and you have to wait until May or June for it to arrive 🤣 For GFS I would highly recommend using only basic tap water if it's not to hard. If the water and debris hits the glass pure water clean it off. A massive Pure water saving technique
Hi ashley, i have a spare back pack to mix up some screwfix degreaser but I only have my day to day window brush , I’m just wondering if a good a rinse out of my pole hose and brush head jets with pure water will be sufficient for when I come to clean windows, school boy question but I don’t want to learn the hard way and end up with spotting on the glass ! Thanks for the video
I actually use a pressure washer sometimes give it that first going over then once it’s semi clean give it a scrub to get the rest off then give it a rinse down after
I use chemicals from bonnymans.co.uk A upvc cleaner works well, or something like razor wash from WCW, they’re all very similar really. If you need something stronger, then I would suggest TFR or ubik 2000. These need to be used with a bit more caution as they’re a bit stronger.👍🏼
Did you change the hose your self to a smaller hose ? On the back pack I have the same one 16 or 18 liters but uses water very quickly if I restrict the hose size it should give me better presure and last longer . Any ideas please. Regards Ray
Hi Ash, exactly our method except if particularly bad we do an initial rinse with the hot water from our system, also do you not recommend pre wetting the area before using TFR? do you have a link for the connection from garden tap to pole hose?
I have put a link in the description for the hose adapter. Yes you could pre wet if you are using TFR, I didn’t want to make things too complicated for this video.😃👍🏼
Hi Ashley I am going to get the pole you recommended to me, if I get the backpack would I be able to get away with using rain water from water butts, as I haven’t got pure water? On the subject of pure water which system would you suggest for a DIY person should I get it later on? Thanks for your time.
Could you use this with a WFP setup to clean windows where a customer does not have accessible taps? E.g. Where I am the water quality is good enough to use a WFP direct from the garden hose connector, but some jobs don't have hose connectors in suitable locations unless you were to have 100's of feet of hose - say a long warehouse. I was thinking that a backpack would solve this problem...
Hi Ashley love the videos quick question ,can you use the univalve with the backpack to further control water usage? Does the pump stop under pressure? Keep up the good work.
After cleaning the chemicals out of the backpack, would it be ok to use it to do the windows (using pure water obviously), or would you run the risk of it still being contaminated and leaving marks on the glass??
great video. does anyone know what happened to Dan Smithon i think his name was, he was also a youtuber/window cleaner, he has removed all videos and social content
Great vid, got a couple of questions, if you don’t use the gardener back pack every day do you still need to charge it on a regular basis to keep the battery in good order? Also really looking forward to knowing what and how you are getting on with the xline brush?
Yeah, well actually, now you mention it, I haven’t had any back trouble since I stopped using the ladder so much. I’m actually really glad for the change to wfp, I was just starting to get back and knee niggles. So now I’m glad to be using a different set of muscles and joints with wfp.😃👍🏼
Hello Ashley😊 Will the Ionic constant pump be an equally good purchase for this type of work, or would it be a recommendation for this product? greetings
There are so many, I think they are all pretty similar. But what you need to look out for is the difference between a standard upvc cleaner which is pretty harmless like any other soapy solution, and a TFR type of cleaner which is caustic and more harsh, but better for cutting through really tough jobs.😃👍🏼
That's all I use, by the time it's empty with the pvc cleaner I swap the brush out for a jet nozzle, connect to customers water and rinse off. Then repeat.
That’s a good idea. I’ve had that sort of thing knocking around in my head for a while. I will get round to talking mire about that sort of thing eventually.😃👍🏼

Gardiner packs are in shortage here in the states. My supplier said mid to late May until back in stock....maybe.
Make a planet express account, they have addresses in the UK and you can post it to yourself.
They quite often seem to be sold out here too! Maybe because they are so good.😆👍🏼

Do the bristles scratch the pvc? I’ve never had any complaints and I don’t use a flocked brush
The stiffer nylon bristles could potentially scratch. It’s not a big risk, but it might be possible?
Game changer! (from the USA) Who sells the backpack? You didnt seem to wear the"backpack" (were you able to?)
I’m not sure where you can get it in the USA. The straps are pretty flimsy. No one really wears it as a backpack.😆👍🏼

The rain water will have a pretty low reading but you might find it will need to go through a resin filter to polish it off down to 0.👍🏼
@@aemackintosh thanks for quick reply, which resin filter do you recommend? This is getting expensive so I’ll have to do the neighbours as well lol 😂
