Guys great tips im here in ireland and finding it hard to find places to work on my zt iv 2 questions guys im a 04 mrk2 zt diesl she was parked for a while first question the fan does not work do i nd to replace it or can it be fixed it worked perfect b4 been parked second question the car drives perfect but all the dash clocks arnt working i put a new cluster in and still not working any tips guys are very welcome
Thanks for the feedback Noel much appreciated. Checkout some of the Facebook forums or MG Car Club for contacts in Ireland. I've seen many owners that will probably be able to advise and help you find a reliable specialist. As for the fan there are two types. The later fan has a silver resister around the 1 o'clock position when you look behind the grille. If this is the case you can replace this with an uprated gold one. I'll place a link below. If you have an earlier fan there will be no resister and unfortunately you'll have to replace the unit. Used one's can be sourced from around £50 from what i've seen. One thing to check is your air-con gas. If the gas is low the system won't detect it and the fan won't engage. I've had this on my own car before. We re-gassed it and it started working. for the instrument cluster check the fuses under the fuse box. Or if not tried already try taking the battery off for half an hour to do a reset. I've seen this work before. Also check for earths that may not be on or corroded in the engine bay. www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/rover-75-mg-zt-gold-resistor-2-speed-fan-upgrade-repairs-pgj000110 Hope this Helps James
@@themechanicalrookies thank you so much come to think my air con is not working i really am thankfull for the reply back hope all is well with ye and yer family at this time
Hi Claudio, this function self tests the lights on the dash so from this you can find out if your cluster is faulty or missing bulbs. You may need an OBD2 reader to diagnose any faults.
Sorry for the late reply! You can turn this off but it needs to be done via ‘Toaf’ (free software) or the original T4 console of which some people have on the owners clubs.
Hi Stevan. The 2.0 V6 was phased out late 2002 to make way for the 1.8 turbo variant. We have owned a couple of manual 2.0 V6's and they were great. Not quite as powerful as the 2.5 but a lovely smooth engine. From what i understand as an auto the power difference doesn't show as much as the manual when working through the gears. Look at the thermostat in the V and make sure this isn't leaking. These are plastic and tend to crack. A replacement isn't expensive but a garage will charge at least a couple of hours labour to change this. Also timing belts are a job that need to be done very 90k or 6 years on the V6. Worth doing for piece of mind.
@@themechanicalrookies thank you for the tips. I took it and I will replace belts and everything that goes with big service,it will cost me some 350 euros but I am very pleased with the car.
Mk2 75 connoisseur and above had lazy window open and closing from the key and remote. Mk2 you could choose the length of time the follow u home light's to stayed on.
We've seen the lazy windows option be a little hit and miss across the whole range. A couple of connoisseurs that friends own that are MK2's don't have this enabled. Possibly dealer enabled and charged for when ordered. Thanks for watching :)
MG-Rover offered it as a factory colour under the 'Monogram' scheme. 4 Rover 75's in this colour across the range. The colour is called 'Poseidon'. It was around a £2000 option when new.

Hi Noel. Been a 04 plate it could have either of the two types of fans. Does it have a silver resister around the 1 o'clock position behind the fan? If so you can buy uprated gold resister to fix from DMGRS.co.uk. If you don't have this a replacement will be required. They are both interchangeable and plug and play. So along as you get the correct model you can fit a later registered fan to your car. From memory the 190 and V8 are the only models that use the same fan. The rest are all slightly different so make sure you do get the correct one. Theres also talk of 3rd party applications but we've not had dealings with these. Hope this answers your question.
I'm actually looking for one at the moment, it's for me cousin. He loves the car because he think the model looks like a jaguar only cheaper maintenance,, the only question i have around those cars is, is this just as reliable as a Honda Japanese car? Cuz he will drive to different countries all around the world with his cars when it's possible Corona will keep us at home at least this year
Hi Richard, for the mileage we'd advise either the Diesel or 1.8T. They can be as reliable as anything else, the key to it as always is maintenance. Everything has its faults but it's finding the cheapest to fix and the right person to fix it. Don't be put off by the K series, we've had numerous 1.8 K series engined cars and never had an issue. If the inevitable happens and the head gasket does go take it to a reputable specialist rather than an everyday garage as a lot of garages misdiagnose them. MPG wise i used to run both 1.8T and CDTI. 1.8T i would find mixed driving of 30 MPG and motorway 40/42MPG. CDTI was 44/45 ish mixed and 50+ on the motorway. If you're on Facebook have a search for the 75/ZT groups as theres plenty of information on there.
Any idea why my '05 ZS heater blower is now on permanently? I can select settings from the digital controls but it wont turn off, its on max hot the whole time? hope you or someone can help me where to start looking...
Hi Daniel, In the experience we've had with the ZS' it tends to be the heater resistor that is at fault. Also known as 'the hedgehog' due to its design. If you're on facebook have a look around the ZS owners group as i'm sure someone more familiar with them will be able to help you. Sorry we can't help more but the ZS' we've owned have all been MK1's which are slightly different.
My zt does a weird thing when I install an aftermarket stereo, whenever I switch the car off the wipers sweep once, then when I turn the power back on its lost its memory, can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it please?
Hi there, We once had this on one of ours. It turned out that the part of the loom adapter that plugs into the back of the radio had the red wire plugged into the yellow and visa vera. Unplug these and swap them around and it should fix this issue.
The fan can only be checked if the air conditioning system is working. For e.g. If there is no air conditioning fluid, this test does not work although the fans work at temperature.
