In essence, the front bed needles were pulled upward toward the center from their normal knitting position, by the tightness of the yarn at too small a stitch size. When the yarn and stitch size are too tight for the size of the yarn, something has to give. This generally will cause broken yarn, difficult movement of the lock and or broken needles.
