This line helped me in resolving whether or not I was ENTJ. I've oscillated between both types for a year and hearing this out loud suddenly made me think of how I usually approached things. I have no problems with following a structure, but it was finding a reason to commit in the first place that was causing me issues.

As an INTJ, I wish whenever I was ready to implement my plans, I could suddenly turn into an ENTJ and conquer the world. ☹ And I do agree that out of all the extroverted/introverted comparisons, ENTJs and INTJs are the most similar.

What an eloquent and accurate breakdown of the two types. The way in which you ended with the two types and their affinity towards leadership - yes. When I worked with my first ENTJ boss him and I had such a symbiotic relationship. He loved to take the leadership, people first roll. I liked to make all of the things come together behind the scenes. We both understood and respected each other’s strengths in these areas and the reasons why our roles were so important. Together we took our business to its greatest year of growth on record. Like you said - I only had to deal with the humans when it was absolutely needed, which was my preference.
    Again, great video.

I am an INTJ and I used to run a company with three people that included ENTJ. At first, it was clear that ENTJ wanted to be the 'leader' and surely had more authority than I had. We were both really goal-oriented, but our approach was different.
ENTJ wanted to do and achieve everything fast. I wanted to move a bit slower and be sure that we have backup plans. ENTJ was more of a dreamer and I were more rational. I am quite good at public speaking, but ENTJ was better. However, ENTJ was a lot worse at formal writing. At first, ENTJ hated to move slower, but as time passed he started to listen to me a lot more. He even told me that I made him realize that he should listen to others more (especially if he is able to trust them). Also, I learned that sometimes it might be better to do things without planning too much.
In the end, I think that ENTJ and INTJ makes a great team. Sometimes our conversations were quite intense, but we were not afraid to speak -- we were both searching for the truth, no matter what it costs.

Your voice is a little bit ASMR like, and you're funny. That's why I subscribed. 😌
I'm an ENTJ who's friend with an INTJ for almost 10 years now and I totally approve of your comparaison points. You just forgot the blind spots (or polar functions as you call them 😂). They can be a very good indicator to try and figure out which one are you.
Si blindness for ENTJ's translate as a very distorted perception of the past. It's like I'm so focused on what to do next that I forget what I did before. Even worse, who I was before. I literally can't tell you if something happened 2 days or 2 weeks ago.
Fe blindness for INTJ's translate as a genuine unawareness of how their actions or words might impact the feelings of people around them. They also have a hard time with what's considered a "normal social interaction" which can lead to some amusing scenarios 😂 like not being aware that someone is definitely flirting with them. They also have a hard time with boring small talk.
Not that ENTJ's particularly enjoy it, but it's not as taxing or bothering for us.

I don't really know from where to start xD there's so much to say.
The coolest thing that I've experienced is how similar our perception of things are. It's like finding a person who speaks the same language as you when no one else does.
A little example of it is definitely humour. In highschool, we started hanging out together just because I was the only person who understood her weird hilariously stupid jokes and stories. And that's how we basically became friends.
Another awesome thing about hanging out with her from a relatively young age (around 18) is that it made me mature way more quickly, obviously because of the heavy Ni influence she had on me.
I think it made me a bit less arrogant than if I never knew her. And way less reckless when it comes to my emotions or actions.
On the other hand, I always take charge of the Te / Se stuff and push her to go do the boring but important things to achieve what she / we want. In the first years, I was a bit overbearing xD but it got better with the years.
To be a bit more objective, I'll give you some "downsides" to the INTJ/ENTJ pair. Even though the benefits definitely outweigh them 😂.
1/ Because we both are very goal oriented, we rarely go out to new places if we don't have a Te reason to do it. So we truly experienced a social isolation for a long time xD but I'm not really regretting it because we've been pondering over our existence during that time, and it definitely made me more InTouch with my Fi.
2/ Sometimes, we both enter in a pure NT mode and end up neglecting our emotions. It happened more in our early 20's than now, but I'm still a bit guilty of it 🙄.
I think I'll stop here 😂 or I'll end up writing an article. If you have more specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them for you. 😊

Her biggest downfall was that she placed great importance on making a final decision quickly rather than making sure the decision was fair and just. She also came to very quick (incorrect) judgments about my character as a person. As you say so well, ENTJ goes for speed and INTJ goes for quality.
Edit: I've since learned that the judge was, in fact, an ESTJ and not an ENTJ. An ENTJ would not have been incompetent. Apologies to anyone I offended with my incorrect earlier statement. Does it have the appropriate pockets and compartments for the items that I need regularly, and another one for less needed items? I do this with everything! My kitchen is set up for maximum efficiency. I have cubbies and cases etc for items as to not lose them. It is comical.

Besides Nathan's eyebrows obviously, I subscribed because this is one of the few mbti channels where types are discussed in a way I find is correct, taking functions and function dynamics in consideration, instead of just the dichotomies or socionics gibberish.
The videos are short, on point and well discussed, so whenever I watch I feel like I learned something or integrated better something I already knew, in a very short time.
Many mbti channels tend to ramble for like 20-30 minutes straight, and I don't have time for that.
If you talked sometimes about type development the channel would be perfect to me ;)

A good distinction between INTJs and ENTJs are their freakouts. It was surreal to see how psycho the other person (not an ENTJ) went when we had a sewage overflow, only to catch myself crying the very same week because when I came to the work office on Sunday, there were other people there, and they were breathing

  • @lavinder11
    @lavinder11 4 года назад +72

I was relating to both until you mentioned "observing the terrain" first, then coming up with a strategy. That's gotten me into a lot of tough spots in the workplace since others think of me as being timid (lol) for preferring to wait to act, so they don't consider me first or even second or third for ambitious projects.
This is fine, for the most part, since whatever I want to do is more important for what I want to accomplish, but, doors tend to close once the decision makers have labeled you incorrectly. So lately, I've been learning how to show off my skills and promote myself. I think it's **** disgusting and a waste of my time since the quality of a person's work should speak for itself, but I understand that people need to see "a leader" and *feel* inspired by a person before trusting them to carry out simple tasks, so I've been outwardly becoming a lady of action while secretly, I've just sped up the planning phase.
Oh and I subscribed because you're interesting.

And no.. the quality of the work almost never speaks by itself, when looked by groups. And usually only when the person leaves they start to notice it instead if one is not into self-promotion ... "wow that person made a difference," - or even more indirectly - " something feels lacking, but I don't know what".

In my experience: entj’s are typically motivated by deeply *ingrained Fi values, whether or not they’re aware of it. They might unconsciously do things to satisfy it with their godsend Te in conjunction with their Se because they very much live in the physical world. They want tangible results for their work. The only thing I personally get tripped up on is where their Ni fits in all of this. Easiest way for me understand it is to say that their Ni (+their Se) gives them their flexibility and adaptability- as well as a picture of what “materialistic/real world” results (or “vision”) they want.
In conclusion: Entj’s are a bit of a mess once you look closely enough. Either that or I have no idea what I’m talking about. I’ll let you decide.

With cognitive function tests, I’m sure of my Te because it is always the most/usually the most prominent. My enneagram is 8w7, so it’s understandable. We learn very quickly, see what needs to be done, figure out how to do it, then jump ship to the next opportunity once it's done and we've gained all there is to gain. Having a natural desire to lead paired with an extroverted personality, people just naturally like you and will make it easier for you to attain your goals.

I’m an INTJ and my children’s father is an ENTJ. Smh… it was such an incredible partnership. He, (in addition to everything else he was doing that day), got me outside doing things and everything always went so smoothly… no matter what we did… even with toddlers, babies and strollers in tow. On another note, he was much more educated than me and would be bewildered at how I could easily figure things out that he needed to know ‘the formula’ for. Between the two of us, I seemed more like the outgoing one and he… the stone faced serious one… but… he was definitely an ENTJ and I’m definitely an INTJ (highly possibly jumper). He was so serious (except around his children… the only time he smiled)… that even our daughter will ask, “What did you see in him?” Even though he couldn’t figure me out, I understood him… and it just worked. No, we’re not together and have not been for decades… but… that’s another story.

I have always balanced on the knife-edge of INTJ and ENTJ. The latter comes out in situations when the SHTF. when things are going smoothly, I manifest much more as INTJ.

Well shit, here is was always sure I was an ENTJ. I always test as one. I even am the one to say "I am sometimes extroverted and sometimes introverted". But a lot of what you said for INTJ makes sense. And I never test that high extroverted, just slightly more than introverted 🤔

Ambivert? I'm an INTJ, or at least always test that way, but I find that I don't get socially drained that quickly.

@@KnightsaysNi I’ve dug a lot into objective personality and a bit into CS Joseph since making this comment and I’m definitely an ENTJ. Objective personality has a great video about the introverted/extroverted scale. Everyone seems to think they’re an ambivert but it’s because not many types are truly all the way on either end.

This is the best clarification I’ve heard, and I’ve been struggling with my own type (XNTJ) for some time. Being very much an ‘ambivert’ it was helpful to hear your clarification here in terms of introversion vs extroversion for the ENTJ. I tire of human company quite quickly however if I haven’t had it in a while I need it. I’m probably an extrovert functionally but REALLY like to moderate and control how much time I spend with people. Does this sound typical of an ENTJ?

I took a personality test and found out, that I'm an INTJ. That was a surprise and so, I need more information about personality types. That's why I subscribed to your channel. I like how You provide the information and it also seems to be more than "just an opinion". Is it?

I at first didn't relate to your description of the ESTJ walking into the room and organizing it most effectively.....until I remembered organizing my shipping and receiving area at work, and having a Definite Pattern of how I unpacked and checked things in, and how it bothered me endlessly when people would "help" and just....put things wherever? come on dude I have a reason for why I put each thing where it goes! I don't want to have to handle it three times if twice will do! D:
Chaotic and messy and full of.....humans. Why the world gotta be like that :(
Immovable object has always well described my particular brand of stubbornness. As a kid I wouldn't *fight* with my parents... I just wouldn't do anything I didn't want to do. (Probably still accurate, just more subtle and have realized as a grown up that some times these things are necessary to achieve my goals XD)
Great video as always. Thanks for sharing :D
(And yes, it's definitely the eyebrows.)
Edit: Seriously though the combo of the pleasant voice (with the enjoyable difference in accent), nice low IN energy (no extra visual or auditory chaos :D), and of *course* the humor...especially the deadpan deliveries. I'd watch your videos on anything I was at all interested in.

    Definitely not the eyebrows xD
But I really liked the to-the-point factual approach with actually relatable examples for my type, INTJ. Most of stuff that I have seen so far make INTJs sound so grandiose that I doubted my identity altogether when the loops hit me xD
Also, I really like the community of this channel. The content creator takes the effort to reply to most comments, and the viewers too reach out if someone seems like they need help.
I want to thank two of the commenters in one of my previous comments on your video when I was having an identity crisis. Especially the person who recommended reading philosophy, or at least directed my attention towards it -I wanted to thank them personally but I can't find that comment- . I understand that commenting to all viewers with a growing viewerbase will be difficult but I would like to enjoy the luxury while it still lasts :3
