Shrink those chest pockets a bit and move them up an inch or so. Make the lower pockets hand warmer type.
The stitching on this is something you don’t see even on a $2000 jacket. It’s so heavy duty and really high quality looking, just beautiful. I love that the lining is 100% wool. The leather is really high-quality and really thick and every detail on this jacket is beautiful and well made. I hope you make a shorter jacket either with a collar or a café racer. I would totally buy it for this price.
Confusing website? Nicks should do a usability study on their own website lol.
Absolutely. Way too confusing and convoluted.
Accurate.
The only way to find their Lead Times pages is by googling. Even their own search feature won’t find it.
Try to find explanations of all the various boot options like the various lasts and soles and such… need to Google it. I guess they don’t need more orders so they don’t care.
@@StolenAlias How?
Glad to see you back in the video's Grant.
Id want to try it on before spending that much on a jacket
You could probably return it if it doesn’t fit.
All of the measurements are there. $1,000 is typical for a handmade, top quality leather jacket. I’m not into the style but the price seems reasonable.
@@drzaius844Actually as a leatherworker I can guarantee you that usually for $1000 for something that’s made in America you would get a jacket with a lower level of craftsmanship than this.
But them jackets are ugly bro you shouldn't wanna try it on😅
1k for a leather jacket is not expensive
How about using Blemished or leather seconds for shop jackets, aprons (both BBQ and Workshop) and tool belts?
Any chance you’ll be offering the canvas versions again?
yea i just found out about it.... i want one damnit!
Wish I could. Looks like a beast
A good leather can be handed down to the next generation, maybe two. My father-in-law gave me his horsehide when I was in my early 20s (before I even married his daughter). I was riding motorcycles at the time and I wore it until I got too big for it. Sold it maybe 10 years ago (in my 60s now) to the next owner and it's probably still in use.
Well done!
Hey Nicks - what would be cool is a beg for the Boot Care Kit - something like a men's toiletry beg...but a little bigger.
Make more of this kind of a jacket Nick's
That’s a very nice jacket!
I need ☝️
Is fit the same as the patriot coat or chiefs coat?
A leather jacket like a good Carhart with hood, is what the construction industry is in need of. I live in Alaska and look for one about once a year. I’ve never found one.
Awesome 😎👍
Pencil neck is swimming in that thing .
Was this a limited release? I can’t find it on the Nick’s website and the links in the description took me to an error page.
Hotdamn, thank you
Ordered!
When are they going to be in stock?
Guys, can you make a new boot model inspired by the Dior Navigate boot? That dressy toe box. Only instead of the crepe soles - normal vibram 132's or similar commando soles. And maybe the top four eyelets - speed hooks.
Why is it so hard to find a dressy combat boot like that. Just a basic, classic combat boot but with an elegant toe box, quality built from premium full grain leather, all black and shiny (not patented).
Grant is the man
Question. It's it possible to get a cross draw leather holster, instead of the inside pocket?
Can I get it without the top pockets?
Oh my dear lord... Now I must beg the spousal domination unit.
Are all leathers that Nicks offer cowskin unless otherwise specified?
Holy crap, how tall is that dude??!!
I really want one but I don't have the money to spend at the moment unfortunately.
I wear a 42 regular. Would that be a large?
In my experience as a Patriot Coat owner they run 2 sizes large. I'm a small to medium wearing 5'6" 150lb guy and the small is still a bit big on me. Not so big that I won't wear it all the time but I would have preferred a more form fitting XSmall option.
Theres a size chart
The large on this jacket is roughly to the same size as a 48 to 50 by my measurements. You could probably get away with a small. But I would take the measurements of a jacket that fits you to be sure. They have a sizing chart on their website. Baring in mind this jacket is made to longer both in the sleeves and overall length. It wears more like a pea coat over a standard jacket.
Grrrrrr why don't I have one of these!!!!!
Pretty good pre-order price. Got mine coming.
Beautiful jacket! I want clothing that will outlast me!
Mmmm...Interesting. I like the orginal more. I would like a M65 in leather more!!!
What cream should I use to protect my Patriot leather jacket?
Hey Phil, the smiths balm or venetian leather balm should work nicely for this.
can you re-release this pls? i missed out.
Can you do a hoodie?
Превосходная куртка
I’ve be this only
If it’s fitted and slimmer tailored to me
Beautiful and better price than Schotts
No 3xl?
who are the brothers from new jersey? what is their brand?
nvm I found it, "Heat Straps"
Aero Leathers is a Scottish Company that purchases their leather in Chicago. A one piece back is showing off quality and adds to the $$ price. I would look into consulting with Thurston Bros on your next design they definitely have the knowledge on leather jackets. I am sure it will sell out, bring back the vests!
I visited the Aero Leathers factory in Galashiels and purchased a jacket from them, it took a long time to break in, it was almost stab proof at first and it would still put up a good fight all these years later, I highly recommend them.
Gusseted backs are way more difficult/costly to manufacture and allow for greater range of motion for end user.
A one piece back is lower quality and cheaper to manufacture.
Full piece back with shoulder gussets@@langege02
Thats wrong, gusseted back has nothing to do with one piece back. There are onepiece backs gusseted.
@@cast1450 you literarily have no idea what your talking about.
You're advertising this to working people? I work in welding, there's no chance it would last me a lifetime. Itd be nice in the winter but I'm not dropping that amout of money for something I'll wear out in a winter. I guess I'll stick to wearing thermals and flannel
Yeah I don't know about that jacket...
The jacket is great but the two chest pockets are too big and ruin the upper torso overall look😊
Make a leather hoodie lol id buy one
Yes sir. +1
Looks a bit chunky for me. But Kewl!
Yeah….. I’m good.
Beautiful jacket. How about a dress version for us city folk? Please!
That thing fits like a leather garbage bag.
Looks chunky and industrial. Definitely looks more of a functional work piece than something you could wear daily.
Sounds great and all, but kinda hard to drop a grand on a leather coat when most of the country is in triple digit temps.
A bomber jacket with a pinup wearing Nicks boots on the back would be cool.
Hey Grant, Made in America, heavy last forever leather? Ever hear of Vanson? Anyway, I like your jacket all except for the seam down the back. A one piece back is where it's at.
I’m with you…..but $1,000??? That’s a lot to ask.
Much like a pair of their boots this is a long term investment. But unlike boots there are no resoles and no rebuilds. If you take care of it this jacket will out live you.
Yeah, I’m sure it’s great but just way too expensive.
Human nature is interesting, people want quality but they don’t want to pay for it…
Not true, there are many instances where this would be appropriate IF the use case called for it. So for the price/quality/use point, I believe this is overpriced.
@@chadg033 isn’t it great to live in America!! I can buy a $1000 leather jacket that I don’t need and you can shop where ever you like as well. 😊👍
Jacket is ok. Not special at all. YKK is a Japanese brand. The zips are made in the US but there are still US zipper makers that make great zips. The jacket looks one size too big on you.
I'd really like to wear this coat at rainy weather, but with chrome tanned leather it seems like bad idea (with my personal experience) and 45 degree angle cut lower pockets make rainy day even worse, like its made for collecting rain drops...
And don't tell me the leather is "oil tanned", there is no such a thing as oil tanning, leather can be fused with oils, sure, but again my money on veg-tan with oils rather than chrome.
Chrome Tanning is actually on the average the better choice than veg tanning for items that are used in wet conditions
in all honesty, waxed canvas would probably do better in the rain than leather. however, chrome tanning and oils really do help with the water repellency of the coat a lot, and what you lose in water repellency, you gain in a significant increase in durability. this coat would be the best in dry snowy weather conditions instead of wet rainy environments
@@aaronminkenberg8386 in the days of past chrome tanned leather used only for dress or summer, workwear, any sorts of coats and boots, were made from veg tan. If you try to use crhome tan at rainy/snowy and hard working daily conditions you will see how leather would stretch out, discolor, loose form and start to soaking wet through.
Nowadays, unfortunately, everything are messed up, like for example many leather "aficionados" stating that one of the best leather choice is cordovan shell wich is basically horse hide.
yeah, no extra fold of material in pockets. put there anything and it will not only stick out, but also put a pressure on the wearer.
WOW!
Wish I could. Took me over a year to save for my boots I
ordered last month.
If it wasn't for the heavy hospital bills due to
my wife's cancer.
I'd be all over it.
how is nicks openly shitting on langlitz leathers and the like, and also not self-aware about the nicks boots’ website? i feel less respectable and classy for rocking nicks boots now.
real recognises real. if you can’t give respect to peers in your field who deserve it, you paint the picture you don’t deserve it yourself.
I’d feel very selfish in front of my wife and kids if I spent a thousand bucks on a jacket for myself.
You could hand it down to son or daughter if taken care of
Let the jacket guys do jackets. Nicks boots are the best and that jacket isn't.
WTF is a patriot coat..
Not worth the price. The jacket is plain looking
Awesome concept and being made in the USA is great, but respectfully, the fit is terrible. He looks like he's playing dress up in his grand dad's jacket, which is 2 sizes too big for him.
This is a workwear cut jacket, meaning it's made to allow room for layers underneath. It's oversized for a reason, silly to compare it to a fashion or motorcycle cut jacket. They saw a gap in the market for a heavy duty, high quality leather work jacket and that's what they made.
Can you guys stop doing the limited run bullshit, and just make jackets already? I would like a nice jacket to keep for the rest of my life. I'm sick of buy 60-200 dollar crap.
Nice materials but it’s cut like a box. It doesn’t do anything to show off broad shoulders and male physic. It looks like it’s cut to accommodate beer belly slugs. My fat old aunt could wear it. The seam up the back is an obvious move to use smaller pieces of leather. I’m not impressed.
Wish it didn’t have the chest pockets
