Ha! Right off the bat there was a Betty White/ Alan Ludden question. Speaking of Betty, you got to love the trick she pulled on Gene. Kate Jackson looked great, and she looked great playing nurse Jill Danko on "The Rookies". Susan the contestant made a nice comeback to advance to the Super Match, and then she won $11000.
At this point in his time on MG he acted like he hated being there. Mind you, he did have FF at this time. But he had to fulfill his contract. I see a lot of that in his final appearances.
Ironic, I thought it was the dumbest most annoying show. As usual Brett couldn't stop talking for 2 seconds and Bill Daily was his obtusely ignorant self. They both try too hard to be funny.
Richard perfected the dead pan. You really and truly didn't know if he had the correct matched answer till he turned it. Made for the show's one moment genuinely real suspense.
What's going on with Betty's card at 16:28? "Only trying to win for lady". Who did she write this for? Is she sandbagging whenever it was the man's question?
I think she was going to give an answer that she wrote only because she was trying to win for the lady contestant, but that she, Betty, as an animal lover wasn't comfortable with. Besides, if she were cheating, she'd hardly write it down.
The Match Game PM tape dates are a bit awkward.I looked at the Mark Goodson Wiki and half the tape dates are missing or inaccurate. The only ones that are correct are episode 1, which was taped on July 28,1975 and aired on September 8,1975 and the last show taped on December 28,1980 and aired on April 28,1981.
Today's head-to-head question has got to be one of the top 10 easiest ones ever. In general, these PM H/H questions are much easier than their daytime counterparts. I imagine it's because they know that a contestant gets one attempt max and they like giving away money in prime time, in part because each show ends with the H/H.
The format difference was that in the daytime there was only one Super Match question to win $500/$5000 and the PM had two, so you could win up to $1,000/$10,000
Day and Night! ;0) Sorry, stole that from MG101.. ;0) Well also that the contestant ahead after the first round went first and the Champ retired at the end of the game and the Front and End game had to be play all in one episode, we will play the super match round next show on this one.. ;0)
Well, first whole format. Match Game had continuing contestants; this one doesn't (syndicated version is different from both of them) Second, Match Game only had only suprematch; Match Game PM had 2 (I wonder how that worked when they got the wheel) And third, Match Game had 2 rounds and Match Game PM had 3
Nobody admits they play pocket pool. I mean even if you do, it's the last thing you would claim. OOf. The butt of so many jokes. Dude SAYS he plays pocket pool. His woman isn't putting out I guess.
There weren't any returning champs on this version, since the show was once a week and bicycled (meaning shows that aired in one market might not have necessarily aired in another in same week). They had to have new contestants each week and each show had to be self-contained. The later syndicated stripped series did the same thing, except each pair of contestants played twice and games did carry over up until the last show of each week.
Couldn't stand Brett. She was so craving air time that she brought the show to a halt every time it was her turn and she had to butt into every conversation. Charles was a close second. Some shows you could tell Rayburn was really ticked with the two of them.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣that much be why 95% of the people on here loved Brett, huh (and also, if you've been the show, in the last "few months" inparticular, Charles was worse for camera time than Brett was)
Hocking is putting something up as collateral for a loan, when which loan is repaid, the item is returned. Selling is selling. The item is exchanged for money. I agree they shouldn't have matched, but I'm not so sure Joe got robbed. There were four other panelists, so it is very possible there was another panelist with "Sell." Personally, I thought eat.
Spaghetti, are you kidding me? I don't blame Betty White for getting mad. I would have, as well. I've never'd seen Betty White mad. But, she was irritated, very much so. It's a game show. But, no one never shades another's husband, or love. It just isn't funny, at all.
T oh give me a break. Betty was a good sport she didn’t act irritated at all. Are you new here? The show throws shade on everyone all the time. They didn’t care because unlike today people knew how to have fun and not get offended over everything
I know that better than anyone. She is a trooper of a sport. I've watched her for years. She did seem a little mad. But, she hid it very well. I've never seen her upset about a thing. But, she was a little put off by that one remark. No need to be rude. Seems like you are offended. Don't judge people. I know more about Betty White than anyone. I'm her number #1 fan. Always have been.
I KNOW CHARLES NELSON REILLY WAS TOO NICE, KIND AND FLATTERED TO BETTY WHITE AND THAT MADE ME SICK, IRRITABLE AND CAVITIES FOR THEIR OWN GOOD AND SCHMALTZY EFFECTS ON IT.
Bill daily is terrible on this episode, and he progressively got worse throughout the rest of the episodes! I don’t even know what they got him on match game!

@Michelles222 he was probably just exhausted from doing both. He loved being on Match Game and around all the pretty women
RIP Bill Daily :(
on Jennie and Bob Newhart show, THE BEST!!
Died Albuquerque New Mexico his home for a time .
Where can I get one of those Bicentennial clock radios. Man is that thing a trip.
RIP Bill aka Major Healey!
Died Albuquerque New Mexico his home for a short time.
Major Healy and Howard Borden of The Bob Newhart Show. The Mark Goodson Wiki needs to be updated
I love this show this particular episode I laughed real hard

@@oldnurse I could see it if it were Patty because she deliberately tries to lose, but people love to complain, so what are ya goin' to do
Major Heayley (Bill Daily) is The Best😀.
Finally, RICHARD and BETTY both said horse! That was the only answer available. So I’m glad I got two horses.
i love it when gene says "WHAT" idk why . but its the funniest thing to me :D
Richard perfected the dead pan. You really and truly didn't know if he had the correct matched answer till he turned it. Made for the show's one moment genuinely real suspense.
Richard Dawson. Ho Ho! And Betty White. As we play the star-studded big money Match Game PM!
The obvious answer to the sink question, to me at least, would be a baby.
That's what I thought. It was a kitchen sink. No idea why they said rubber duck or bar of soap.
Me too, I said the same thing.
To me the obvious answer was dirty dish / dirty cup something like that. I guess I technically matched Brett and Richard.
Johnny Olson
Alj Olson
Rhyan Coleman Johnny Olson is the obvious choice second to Mrs.Olson(of coffee fame).
19:33 Rare shot backstage of announcer Johnny Olson (also from TPIR game)
That $10,000 would be worth about $56,400 in 2023.
FINALLY watched TBNS this winter and watched it twice...LOVED IT.
Pocket billiards sounds a lot like pocket pool. It was a bad choice of words :) :)
I love the godfather question.
Loved Kate Jackson ever since she was on Dark Shadows.
Rip Bill daily
Al J... was the greatest Betty White answer yet!!😂😂
20:08 Brett kills me!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I was surprised that she spelled brand new as "bran-new". She always pokes fun at Fannie's spelling.

Charles: “oh she’s so adorable!”
Brett: “for a woman her age!”
i love brett and betty’s banter, they sure did love each other despite the banter.
I want that bicentennial clock

Richard got generous thank you from the winner, rightly so, he helped her all the way!
Traded him for a password ...
Amazingly, Brett and Charles passed away the same year, 4 months apart, in 2007.

He's done it at least a dozen times over the course of the series. It's another one of their running gags.
Amazing
sitting in the sink... he thinks he's a GREASY PAN !!!
"Just put it in the slot and shut up." Thank you Gene.
1976?
One Betty’s job is save animals that is why she traded him for a horse!
Susie’s a cutie.
Cannot believe how hard these questions seem to these contestants! Like I said, they audition them and they find the dumbest ones to get on the show
