When Star Citizen works, it’s like no other game in the world, and gives unique emergent gameplay like nothing else too. It’s all due to the fully physicalised environment and mechanics that enable this sort of thing. It’s videos like this that show why so many of us back the end vision / potential for this project.
Just don’t hold out too much hope man. I backed this game in 2013 with an expected release date of 2015 or 16. Needless to say, they obviously miss their deadlines.
Could this turn into a great game, absolutely, but currently it’s a just a beautiful alpha game.

As clarification if beds video is scripted, I’m here to tell you simply, no. This is a server wide event where anyone can join up for the cause of selling illegal goods for great pay. The org bed and his crew fought in his first infiltration was Iron vanguard. We held the line against 3+ orgs (mostly air) trying their luck at getting payed. 10 hours in and bed was the only one to successfully infiltrate out of everyone on the server that day.
Much respect bed 🫡.

We've done hot drops, full armoured assaults, desperate sniper fights, its an amazing expression of what combined arms can look like in SC
It would have been WAY smarter of the enemy to delay the decision the full 2 minutes they were given. That way, they could have rushed in and fought and possibly saved at least some of their drug stash. But, stating right away "we don't care" cost them the entire drug stash.
I mean, they weren't lying, they didn't care. Orgs like that are loaded. They're only really doing it for the thrill of the fight.
SC is that game that just looks way better than it feels. Hope they finish it someday. After Tarkov, im not too keen on investing in any perpetual betas.

I think the trouble with videos like this is people might start playing expecting this sort of thing to be going on constantly, there are always long periods of nothing happening and the really intense moments happen very quickly and unless you're in a big established group then your chances of experiencing moments like the vid are lowered, though battles can happen at anytime almost anywhere. There are even groups of Ambulance folk who go around rescuing people, loads of things that aren't in other games.
Me and a clan of 60 guys held jump town for 6 days straight and we all made so much miney in gear and drugs

Yup, the bigger the ship, the bigger the boom, when the Quantum drive explodes. Sometimes you can see the ship get suck into a void in space and then pushes out. When an Idris explodes it is glorious to watch.

Star Citizen is so much bigger than than I thought
I mean every single inch of the game is fully explorable, literally every inch of a planet you can explore. If you wanted to you could fly not in quantum from one planet to the next, it would take roughly a year in real life to do so assuming fuel was infinite and the game never crashed. You can have a whole army of people running around a ship doing random things in a fight. The game is massive and detailed, just needs to be playable lol

Twitch attracts some of the most brain-dead cancer out there. Watching his first stream, I just turned it off after a whilst. Calling anyone who dared say anything even remotely positive about the game a shill then latching onto anything negative like their ego's depended on it.
It's kinda funny because you can see the moment they realise the potential in the game and why people have so much love for it, as they change from parroting "scam thunder" to generic insults you see whenever someone feels excluded from a games' community.

I don't understand how you can like summit but at the same time keep calling this game a scam, feel like he deserves more credit than that. We've all thought Star Citizen sounded fishy at some point, but after giving it a chance and trying it for ourselves found that there's a lot more to it.
It's twitch chat. The chat of star citizen focussed streamers attracts all the scam citizen cancer as well, so a general streamer the size of summit is going to attract them like moths to a flame.
So it’s like cyberpunk, mauraders and cycle frontier mixed together
TBH, it's like nothing ever created. It just needs time to bake in development and then we are in for the most amazing open world pvp + pve space game you could imagine. It's really shaping up :)

Star Citizen is free to play, May 17-29, it'll also be coming with the new .23 patch which has a load of improvements. So even if it's a buggy mess here and there for you, least it was free.

@@JamestheKilljoy I've tried watching him, and can't figure it out either. I know he used to be a huge "MLG" FPS guy, but there are leagues of guys better than him now. And he's not the only streamer who smokes a bowl mid stream, so it can't be that. And he has basically nothing to say that adds to the game he's playing, or the videos he watches, be it comedically or from a knowledgeable perspective.
It's forever a mystery to me why guys like him and xQc dominate the viewership, while comedic streamers or guys who know games like the back of their hand and engage with their chat about the content languish at 100-200 viewers. And as much as I don't enjoy the "in your face, reactionary" content guys like Kai Cenat put out there, they put WORK into their stuff. Like a boatload. So sitting there watching a guy make $10k-$50k a stream playing and going "Yo, chat" or "Bruh" every 30 seconds and not much else just confuses me.

@@alandab I have hundreds of hours played and have actually done the things he does ingame, such as the prison escape. For example, when he jumps over a ravine, he adds a metallic thumping noise and metal creaking, when ingame those sounds don't actually happen.

Not really, Ground warfare sounds are pretty cool. Have someone in a Eclipse or Retaliator Bomber drop a Size 9 Torp on something thats parked on the ground. The BOOM sounds really nice. Or a A2 with its Size 10 Colossus Bombs ^^
Ares Inferno Size 7 Gatling sounds cool aswell and the gun looks nice too

The friendgroup bedbananas plays with containing people like Strippin, Criken, Tomato, Lawlman, Buck and charborg are all incredible roleplayers that do these kinds of streams all the time on different games. These videos are not scripted only edited.
Not scripted. I was the Org in the beginning Bed and his crew fought and took over facility. At our 10 hour hold on JT from multiple orgs fighting us, Bed was the only one to successfully take it from us until we took it back for another 2 hours then called it. Totally 12 hour hold of JT. Best server we had played on in a while.
Not scripted sans the drama intro/outro. The Jumptown world event gets pretty wild at times with multiple groups fighting over it.

My computer cries when i see this game.
Honestly it;s not as demanding as many people think, the main thing is having fast memory. Other than that most mid-range PC's will run it just fine. The confusion comes because the frames are often limited by the servers, rather than people's hardware. The hope is they can fix that with server meshing, which is why there is a lot of hype around that being shown off last citizencon, but we'll have to wait and see. If you want to try it for free, they do fairly regular free flights where you can test all the ships for free.
Game is pretty alright. My old PC got a 3060Ti and R7 5800X3D (32GB RAM at 3200mhz too) and I mostly had 50-60 fps in cities and around 120 FPS in space or on moons like in this video.

The devs completely screwed the flight model on this game, it's sad to see. The skill ceiling has been lowered so much so that it's just not fun to engage in combat anymore.

How well optimized is this game?
About as well as launch day Cyberpunk lol. To be fair a lot of the stuttering and stuff is server side. It will run ok on a medium range PC as long as it has fast memory. But it's a long way off being what anyone would consider a smooth experience.
Best bet is to try it for free. They have frequent free fly events. You could probably google when the next one is. There's a tonne of fun to be had with it, which you can't find elsewhere if you can overlook the bugs and performance issues.

With vulkan its pretty good rn. I cant talk too much about it cuz i got a 4090 and all that. But even my buddies 1060 runs it pretty well now
