Nope I agree totally I have a son who is Caucasian black and Native American and if you put him next to his half brother who is Caucasian and Native American the way they were treated in school growing up were absolutely two different worlds it was a shock and a wake up call for me when my children started elementary school. I have five children none of which look the same all of them except the two brothers have different parents because we adopted and to see the looks on white peoples faces when I used to walk around with five kids all hanging on my cart all different colors it was amazing it was also really funny. I'm a black female, retired 25 of service, Police Officer. I've lived in the hood, (middle class neighbourhood) ever since I returned to the city I was born in, from serving in the US Air Force. One thing I knew, I look like every other black person out of uniform, and I didn't want any problems off duty. Many of my former coworkers would ask me, when I was moving out of the hood? I said never, I know the world I live in. I love my people. Good or bad, I know what they are about.
People would talk about me when I lived in the hood. I knew all my neighbors, all the kids, I knew who was the trouble makers. We didn't bother eachother but we looked after eachother.

The saddest part of this is that the poor kids of the family are just trying to have a fun day at the beach. I've lived in NY my whole life and our beaches are just so diverse, we don't even notice who's who in the water. It literally doesn't exist at most of our beaches. There are some private beaches where this becomes a problem and it is often with people from outside of NY. I don't get it, their skin is brown for God's sake, who cares if my skin is white and theirs is brown. What does that have to do with their brain or ability to be family oriented, fun, loving people. It just makes absolutely no sense at all.
