    What a brilliant video John. You seem to have gone through the same as me with years of caring and loosing mum and dad. I have so many part works in store and some part built.
    You gave given me hope that it us possible to get back to life and hobbies, and for that a very big thank you to you John.

    Hi John,
    What a great and open short piece to camera that was. Alot of what you said about trying to restart a paused project resonated with me.
    I have a Mantua 1/98 HMS Victory which I paused because I was so busy with work. It took me several attempts to restart and it was a series of videos on RUclips that helped me to get my head around where I needed to be.
    Keep up the great work John

    We all take time to grieve in different ways … 22nd Jan will be the 10th anniversary of my mum passing away … it’s all sorts of things that remind us. Your Endeavour hull looks fantastic .. and your Victory is superb John .. and it’s brilliant that has got you back into model ship building… you really are an amazingly skilled craftsman .. and I really enjoy watching your videos.. this one particularly poignant to me right now.

    Thank you for sharing your personal experiences John, I think it is very easy for any modeller to hit the buffers at some point. These days model kits with endless mods are indeed both rewarding and very challenging. You need a change of air from time to time for whatever reason. I thought about having several projects on the go myself so as to keep my skills fresh and not lose interest. You my friend have masses on the go at the moment and doing things at a good pace that you can enjoy. The Titanic projects are very demanding and expensive, especially if you use a lot of the mods available. My Olympic conversion of the Trumpeter kit is a research nightmare that I can only do very slowly. However it is giving me a lot of pleasure since I started it a year ago. By now most people would be seeing the project making a lot of progress. In my case every small part that I do has to be researched for the time period that I am doing and I am still working on the hull! It has held my interest and so far I have easily resisted raiding my model stash for a change!! Anyway, interesting John and as I always say only work on your builds when you really feel up to it. Regards JH 😉

      Hi Johnny thank you for your comment, I’ve always thought of my channel as more of a personal journey with my models, that hopefully people could come along and share my experiences with the builds I’m working on, I know I don’t have a polished channel, but I’ve always spoken from the heart, when I make my videos

    i started a partworks build of hms victory and could'nt quite finish it because the 'ribbing was out of whack and that put rest of the ship out so i tried to remedy it and you can imagine how that must have went but oerall it was fun to build though.thanks for posting

    Make it a diorama John, of it being built in the ship yard, masts on the deck and maybe some figures working a way. Lots of furniture, rigging you don’t need to hang.

    This is the older version of the Artesania ENDEAVOUR. Apparently there were so many errors that they brought out the new version but even that kit has some glaring errors. They are nice kits to build none the less and if you put in time to research the prototype, you can fi the errors and come out with a nice model. The new version doesn't have a booklet, it has a 500+ page pdf on a CD.

    First... condolences on the passing of your mom...
    Did I understand you correctly that you framed, planked AND cut the gun ports in 8 days?? We MUST be using a different calendar! Did you sleep?? Excellent series on the Victory. The deagostini Victory is the first ship I've built of this complexity and your videos are really informative. 8 DAYS??

    • @Johnbuildsiconic
      @Johnbuildsiconic  2 года назад

      Hi robert, yes 8 days. One days keel rib and deck fitted. Day two till 6 fully planked day 7 & 8 cutting al the gun ports, but I wasn’t filming the process back then. And
      The build went alot quicker

      @@Johnbuildsiconic Amazing... On the planking, were you using ca or a traditional wood glue?
      And I agree with the other posters suggestion that you make the other hull a diorama, showing it as it would be on the builders ways... that would be an incredibly unique display

    Artesania kits are not the most easy kits to build. The focus on these kits is far more on the woodwork. I've build the Charles T Morgan and that was a great challange. Your Endeavour looks great!! And i think if you would find the energy to work on this kit again............... you wil not regret it!

    • @Johnbuildsiconic
      @Johnbuildsiconic  2 года назад

      Hi Ron. Yes I can remember the get the hull looking just right took weeks of cutting the parts perfectly and sanding, but with that build there wasn’t even the smallest amount of filler used, I don’t think I will even get bk to that standard, and I build more for the fun now
