There were reports that the Saudis were preparing a last ditch bid for about 210-220m in September but it just never happened I don't think. The lads are just a bit confused, I do remember 220 being bandied about in the press.

They missed out on that offer. Part of the reason they even offered that much was due to when the deadline was. It probably was worth it to keep hold of him for this year though even though they really came nowhere close to delivering on that quadruple shout

Even if the price tag was £220 million (which is wasn’t) it still isn’t “one of the biggest transfer mistakes of all time.” The offer came in with like a week left in the transfer window, so Liverpool would’ve had to identify a replacement, negotiate with a club, overpaid by about 50% if that players value, and then agreed contract terms all in that time, which almost never happens. Had a decent offer come from Saudi in late June/ early July then I’m pretty sure Liverpool would have accepted and had time to find a replacement

People forget Salah was in the conversation for best player in then prem before he went to AFCON. Selling Mo Salah last season to the Saudis would have seen us slip even further down the table. we really don’t need all that much, reports have come out saying salah is staying so i’m gonna assume he is in the point. We have 5 top forwards, the midfield is all young and full of potential apart from endo so all we need really is a better dm but endo could do a job for a title winning team. Then in defence we have the best keeper in the world, best centre back in the world, best left back in the world when he’s on form and fully fit then there’s konate/quansah and we’re signing another centre back and trent/bradley at right back. Assuming no one’s being sold and the players out of contract leave we need a centre back and arguably a better dm that’s it
I rate Endo but he’s not title winning material. Apart from that I agree, we’ve got plenty of top attackers and we must not forget about Jayden Danns who’ll have his breakthrough season I believe.
We have a solid midfield but lack a pure 6 to break down the oppositions attack and regain possession and control. We lack that Fabinho replacement, Mats Wieffer has a lot of similarities defensively to Fabinho. He’s also similar to Rodri when looking at his composure and passing ability and has the physical attributes like Rice to just run from side to side and cover ground.
We should strengthen our defense and prepare for Virgil’s departure so a LCB is needed, I’d love Piero Hincapié because he can also play LB for now and could be rotation for Virgil in cup games so he can directly replace Virgil once he leaves
Long story short: Get a DM (Mats Wieffer) and a LB/LCB (Piero Hincapié or Hancko)
with slot i think we’ll be in a top 4 battle and could do something in any of the 3 cups. Realistically with these owners the best we can do is get top 4 consistently and maybe win a cup, klopp is the reason we’ve gone above that and won a champions league and fought for a few prems. Liverpool fans aren’t that stupid we know from pre klopp that we’re not expecting to compete for the league every year especially with what we spend on players. If we don’t get UCL football it’ll be a concern that’s it

@@yt2530 we have gone after the owners on multiple occasions it’s just when the teams doing well no one likes to focus on the negatives but the point is always made. Like from 20/21 we complained about not signing a centre back in january, summer of 2022 about a midfielder then now a centre back

Pre-Klopp we were a top 6 club fighting for that 4th spot for UCL football. Now because of Klopp’s brilliance that’s just a standard. He made us consistent title contenders and 4th is now considered as underperforming when that was our goal not too long ago.
As long as Slot gets top 4 in his first season I’m happy league wise. In terms of cups, I do expect him to challenge to win Fa, Carabao and UCL.
It’ll also depend on the competition’s quality, I have no doubt that City and Arsenal will still challenge for top spot since they have no major changes, they will only strengthen especially Arsenal. But how Villa, Newcastle, Spurs, United, Chelsea, Brighton etc do is all unpredictable so we don’t know if 3rd is possible or we should be happy with 6th.
Using this season as an example, I think Slot should be competing with Villa, Spurs and United for UCL football but I do expect him to get third unless one of the other teams overperform like Villa did this season and Newcastle did last season
Early predictions for next season:
1. City (about 90pts)
2. Arsenal (about 90pts)
3. Liverpool (about 75pts)
4. United (about 70pts)
The question is what team will overperform this time, Villa could be third if they strengthen but I doubt their top players will all stay (Douglas Luiz f.e.) I don’t see Newcastle doing it because they might lose Isak and Bruno G. Chelsea will be fighting for top 6 again

@@itshurtt395 i’ve watched every game this season bar maybe 2 if i’ve been busy and he actually performs better than his stats aswell the literal only critique is his finishing but he makes atleast half the chances for himself, he gets 5-6 chances a game then when gakpo or jota play striker they get a couple at most. As for him wanting to win the league he currently ranks seconds for most game winning goals in the league. Then if we talk UCL he’s played in one campaign for us and he scored against real madrid in the last 16 we later lost, at benfica he scored in every knockout round winning them basically every game so that points irrelevant. If anything he’s a big game player, last season alone he scored against madrid, city, arsenal, united, Newcastle so all the top 4 in the prem and the ucl champions. As for him playing off the left he is a bit wasted cus he can cut inside and shoot great but it’s predictable
