    By the way guys Jason Kook more than likely would have made it to the top of poker regardless of these individual incidents. He would be too humble to say that but with the right mindset you are already better than 99.99% of people.
    People are really bad at losing and everyone think they are unlucky, when you deal with loss the right way you have an advantage already.
    In poker and in life you have to learn to focus only on the things you can control and try and not waste energy on the things you can not.
    Amazing game

    One thing he doesn't mention is what he bought in for. Starting with the minmum seems very light at only 100 bigs, thats shallower than max buys-in many 2-5 games that are about 160 to 200 bigs. It just seems real shallow, and no matter how good you are one cooler or bad beat can be brutal

    • @glennhagstedt
      @glennhagstedt 6 месяцев назад +1

      Asia games you dont carry cash you buying in for, you either wire them the money or get credit, if you get to the game and its 5x bigger then you thought and you have someone vouching for you, you just get a credit for the amount you want to buy in for, Jason probably had 100-200k on hold and when the buy in was 500k he just got it as credit and works it out later, hence why he said he got a bigger piece of himself then he wanted to, he probably just got credit for the amount that was missing.
      Its very dangerous if you cant cover it when losing, some of the asians in those game have triad connections, if you dont pay you probably lose a finger or two, or worse.

      Not sure, he mentioned that the pot was insured. Should mean that the impact win or lose should be about the same, unless it wasn't fully insured.

    Gets real scary when there are flush and straight draws with large pots. Gotta do what’s right but often the edge is only 4 - 6%. Can hurt real bad.

    If the Chinese guy fully insured the pot wouldn't he no longer care about the outcome, he'd get the same no matter if he won or lost less the vig, correct? Or was it partially insured? (i.e. $100K pot, the guy with 80% equity insures it for $20K plus vig. Wins the pot, he nets $100K less insurance $20K for 80K less vig. If He loses the pot, he get's 80K from the house (100K pot less the insurance 20K less vig. So he ends up in the same place.

    • @bbertgilo1574
      @bbertgilo1574 7 месяцев назад

      Nope. Insurance has uneven odds just like the insurance you make in Blackjack.

    • @glennhagstedt
      @glennhagstedt 6 месяцев назад

      Depends how much he insures for, he might just insure for a small amount to just get something back if he loses, also if he gets insurance from the casino my guess is its in their favour, he might have to pay like 10-20% in interest, often its better to get insurance from other players.
      Also in this particular spot, the pot was in the millions, you dont want to give up to much equity when you are an 80% favourite, lets say the pot was 3 million$, its not like you want to give up 600k, its alot of money to just give up for insurance.

      To be honest he probably still to this day doesn’t know the exact dollar amount that specific pot was. They are playing in an entirely different currency so the only thing he can do is estimate, and it’s considered rude to in those high Stake games to count out your money while the game is still going on.

      gambling has been shown to have the exact same affects on the human brain as drugs. yes. sweating a card that your gf will leave you over and you'll have to sell your house and restart your life over when you're a 4 to 1 underdog.....yes. I imagine there was some stress there.

    • @Yawelcome213
      @Yawelcome213 7 месяцев назад

      Again the feeling you get while gambling will never be equal to an opioid thanks for playing though 🤦‍♂️ not to mention 80% of all heroin in the US is mixed with fentanyl so yeah no the highs and lows you get from gambling are not anywhere close to crack or heroin just saying…

      @Yawelcome213 I mean does that really matter tho. So let's say that's just a bad comparison right? But is that really a sticking point in the convo lol. Seem like you just wanna argue.
