  • The Oak Ridge Boys are an American country and gospel vocal quartet. Founded in the 1940s as the Oak Ridge Quartet, they became popular in southern gospel during the 1950s. They changed their name to the Oak Ridge Boys in the early 1960s, and remained a gospel group until the mid-1970s, when they changed their image and concentrated on country music. Here, they were special guests on CBC’s “Carroll Baker in Nashville” special taped at the Grand Ole Opry in 1979 and they performed “Dancing the Night Away” from their 3rd album “The Oak Ridge Boys Have Arrived.” The group has been indicted into both the Gospel and Country Music Hall of Fame.

I had a huge crush on Joe back in my precious younger years... and actually still do! Wish our paths would have crossed, but guess it just wasn't meant to be. So glad he has so much happiness and success in his life!

Well Jody, I must say I always preferred Richard with longer hair. When he cut his hair very short in late 80's & 90's, though it looked neat, it didn't suit his face as much. He is one of the lucky ones, that have a nice set of hair. Mind you, it IS the man not the look that counts, but since you asked... here it is. As for William Lee?.... I never liked facial hair that much. For Duane & Joe, their look fits them. Duane looked very nice in the 60's without his beard, as well. Answering this post only cause... I don't know really. ;) lol

I didn't know back then that this was written by and recorded initially by the Amazing Rhythm Aces (of "Third Rate Romance" fame) in 1976.

What a wonderful video!! It's an old one, judging from the fact that William Lee Golden is clean- shaven, but this has always been one of my favorite songs, and it's wonderful to see Joe Bonsall and all the others. Love seeing the band, too!😊💒
