Part 2 of the Colchester Lathe Clutch Plate manufacture. Fitting the Nut, drilling and countersinking the holes and drill the Oil Feed Hole for the Bushes.
Gday Cam, absolutely perfect on all measurements and getting the angle for the oil hole bloody unreal, you have done an excellent job here mate, I need to make one of those angle plates one day, could be very handy to have, Great job as always, cheers
Thanks Matty, yes I only use the Angle Plate on rare occasions but its a very handy piece of kit when you need it. I looked at Angle Plates that matched that size to buy but the prices where far more than I could afford so I made that one out of scrap material for almost nothing except for the nuts. Cam
G'day Cam. Even after all the calculations to get that drilled port to come out at the right point it feels good to know it worked out, well done. Cheers Peter
Another Cam video and a new trick. Great trick chasing the thread as there is zero chance anybody has a tap that size. LOL. Another option would be a thread file if anybody has one of those and no tap. Popular item among us mechanics. Great restore. I will put good money that if a UFO lands in your backyard you will be flying it out for dinner the same evening. LOL. All the best Dan
Hello. I am not sure a thread file will work?? I have two or three and with mine they run over the bolt threads. I am not sure how you would apply the file to a nut. Just thinking. Take care, Norm in Arizona
Thanks Tom. Love the new machine additions to your shop, I'm starting to get envious for some more room in my little backyard show but Rose won't let me extend or build any more. Cam
Sorry ,Eric dog teeth where tig welded up by my brother and the I machined back the diameters and the customer hand filed and fitted the teeth to the mating part. Cam

Thanks Dan, yes I didn't thing the tap would work but it cut out the damaged portion and left a clean thread.

Nice.
Was there ever a video that showed how the dogs on the dog clutch were fixed?
Hi Eric, no I never got to see the final assembly but the customer did tell me it was a perfect fit-up and the lathe was back working.

@@camatbattler2233 I have an input shaft of a Colchester student with exactly that problem
Be good to see your full process instead of cutting away then returning with problem solved
