Hey Philip Hyland, Thanks for your kind words! The next 10 episodes are just entering pre-production (script development), so please stay tuned... I have much more to share :)
Another top video: clear, concise and informative - all in under 5 minutes! Perhaps you could do a part 2 with fault diagnosis and clearing engines codes (assuming you have one!). Keep up the great work ;-)
Hey Phil Jones, Thank you for your kind words! There are a two videos in pre-production right now that you may like. The videos are worked on 7 days a week and I hope to get a bunch of them out soon! Stay tuned!
Agree great video. Just picked one of these up . I read a code on my honda 6cyl. Cat converter pollutants above threshold. I'm thinking a bad tank of gas or cat is broken up a bit . Either way runs great not concerned so I cleared the code . No more engine light . What do you think? It's fine right . Code was p0420
Can you talk more about what all the possibilities for monitoring there are? It's a clearly novice question but you explain quickly and well. Thanks for this
I was trying to connect my obdii scanner to the torque lite app and it will not connect to my phone via Bluetooth although I was able to pair it. PS- I've used it before on the same car with the same app. This time since I was working on my VCG replacement and after the process when I try to start the car it won't hence thought it would need a car to start in order for it to connect
I got a KOBRA OBD scanner last Christmas and have never gotten it to work. I just watched your video and just for kicks I just tried it again after a few months but still the same. When I plug it in and start the car, I go to Android-> Settings-> Bluetooth and scan but no devices are found. I would sure love to get this thing to work, any suggestions for me...Thanks!!
would you have any ideas as to why my scanner won't connect to the ECU? It's an old chevy cargo van. The scanner connects to my android via bluetooth and keeps searching proto non stop, vehicle icon blinks. My actual scanner has 3 lights on it, PC illuminates, (the others are OBD and Power, they don't light) I have another car that hooks up almost instantly every time (Honda). I use the torque lite app. The actual scanner is called hh advanced obd2.
Hi. I have Torque and get as far as searching for protocol but it never finds my ECU. How do I find out which Scanners support my ECU as I am assuming the App is good, the Scanner is good as app is connecting to scanner as there is flashing and solid green light activity on the Scanner while Torque scans for protocol so The only thing I can think is that the scanner doesn't have my protocol in it is this possible? My car protocol is ISO 9141, KWP2000 do you know which scanner can read this protocol
I would think a 2006 Audi would use ISO 9141. If the OBD scanner isn't connecting, you might want to try a different wireless scanner. Some of the cheap (less than $15) don't work when new. I have had good luck with VeePeak scanners. (and OBDLink MX+ if you want to spend more)
Can you run other apps at the same time or does Torque take a lot of processer power? I have my old cell phone that the speaker went bad in. I am thinking about using it for Torque and wondered if I could use it to play music at the same time or if it would fail at doing either. My Phone is a Moto Nexus 6, so it is old but not super ancient . Thanks
Torque Lite has an option to search and change themes, but no themes show up. The app simply searches endlessly with no results weather on a wireless network or wifi. Any thoughts?
Hey JG, I just tried to choose a theme and it didn't work for me. I suspect the issue is on the server side. Maybe ask at: torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewforum&f=1.0
Hey jerealms, You have excellent timing! The next episode (to be released beginning of June) is the "OBD Scanner Buyer's Guide and Speed Test". I think you will like it :)
@@ralphdouglas1001 Hey Ralf Douglas, I am a little behind schedule.... It is the next episode to be released (Episode 20) and is still in post production. It should be out in the next few weeks.
Sorry, but I don't have enough info to troubleshoot. I would try the OBD scanner on a different car, and see if it connects. Then you will know if it is the car or the device. One more thing: Look under the hood for a emissions label, and made sure is says "OBD Certified" Some regions in the world didn't require OBD until much later.
Hey Johnny CincoCero, I have not, after taking a quick look on amazon it looks to be a good unit. (from what you can tell from pictures) I do like the OBDLink products. The are small and seem to work well.
Hey Mike M, Ahhh, I understand now! The bluetooth paring code is set by the company who makes the bluetooth scanner. Ask the place you purchased it from for the "pairing code" or try these common codes: 0000, 1111, 1234, 6789, 1234 If that doesn't work, do an online search for "common bluetooth obd paring codes" Good Luck!

Great job. Learned more here in less than five minutes than a,couple of hours searching for a manual. All the essentials in no time!

I can't... It is different for every vehicle and in some cases different for different years of the same vehicle.

As a quick guess, if you had the radio on while working on the car, the battery might be too low to start the car. (I've seen it happen before)

I'm not sure... When I am using Torque, it is the only app that I am using. I would think the multi-tasking on your phone should be able to do both.
Hey! great video. Can you confirm if torque lite can scan fault codes or is it just for live data?
To be honest, I can't remember as I haven't used Torque Lite in 5+ years.
If you want a good app to scan for codes, my current favourite is OBDFusion.
Can it be used to check for problems?
Yes... this will allow you to check for engine trouble codes.
Torque Lite has an option to search and change themes, but no themes show up. The app simply searches endlessly with no results weather on a wireless network or wifi. Any thoughts?

Can this device cancel the service on the audi a6 4g and check the actual mileage???? Thanks!
Nope. That requires a special device to communicate with that part of the car's network. This is a simple, free app to show basic diagnostic info.
is it clear check engine light

If your Daewoo was sold in North America, any OBD app and wireless OBD scanner should work.
Can’t find torque lite on App Store
Android only?
Hey Dylan Blue,
That is correct, Torque is only for Android.
However, if you are looking for a good OBD app, OBDFusion is my current favourite :)

See my reply below.

It did take a bit of time to figure out what it does.... however it works well for a free app :)
Oops, just to make sure, it says, "Suports all OBDII protocols" on the scanner.
Good point!
No luck with this WiFi OR Bluetooth. To start, again,my screen doesn't look anything like yours. Mine is pretty much an old character-based screen

I don't know what you mean by "pop up icons"
If they are advertising, I suspect some app may be requesting/displaying ads.
