So the conclusion of Indonesian GP is :
1. The track is wide so divebombing won't be a risky move anymore
2. A lot of inside passes in this track. Around the outside won't work here (maybe some of the time it'll work but not too many)
3. Inside line is the best line in Mandalika. Since the track is wide, taking the apex will make you accelerate much more early than go around the outside. If your opponet blocks you from the outside, you can still get some good tractions coming out of the corner.
Conclusion : Indonesia could host a F1 GP. With unpredictable weather changes, this could bring a good race.
It would be expensive of course but if managed correctly this could be a massive tourist draw and i also had an idea of having a Formula E race in Bali as well. Basically these 2 events can act as motorsports holiday

As an Indonesian, I'm still doubt about it, I know we later have Mandalika in 2022, but that was planned for MotoGP, most of Indonesian people here are a fan of motorcycle and not a car like other countries (especially in Europe & American) + MotoGP are very popular in Indonesia.

I really hope Indonesia will host an F1 race. Unfortunately F1 is not very popular around here compared to MotoGP, which is one of the reason why Mandalika was built in the first place. This track is pretty good, that's why. And I would like to attend an F1 race in my own country as well

Untuk circuit mandalika, menurut gw lintasan lurusnya kurang dan pastinya gak cukup buat drs zone, jadinya gak seru soalnya overtakenya lebih dikit pastinya.
In my opinion on Mandalika Circuit, there aren't enough straight lines and there are definitely not enough space for drs zones, so it will be less exciting because there will be less overtake.

Agreed At least about the commentator. He reminds me of the late Murray Walker so much enthusiasm and he always brings the excitement even in the less exciting parts. Plus his catchphrase "And It's Pedal to the Metal GO GO GO." That sounds so much better than David Croft's phrase "And It's Lights out and Away we go."

Maybe in 2022. As far as i know the circuit isn't ready yet. Or hasn't been finished. Motogp was scheduled in 2021, but then it cancelled.

When David Croft eventually retires Sky Sports should give him the call to be the lead commentator, George reminds me so much like Murray Walker. A lot of enthusiasm and his catch phrase "It's pedal to the metal GO GO GO," is so original.
All we have to do is to watch how good WSBK and MotoGP races in Mandalika. Fingers crossed, it will be great enough to finally hold its very first Formula 1 Grand Prix.
If this would actually happen i would totally watch it live. Geleal and King Rio Haryanto would be happy to see this.

This track is fast flowing circuit with a very high air and track temp, could be interesting with tyre strategy. And one thing could spice up the race is the unpredictable weather, you can have a bright sunshine on 10am and then when the race starts at around 2-4 pm, you might gonna have a huge storm. SBK and MotoGP already have contract with this circuit, finger crossed F1 followed soon
Mandalika probably get FIA grade 2 highest with only 50K capacity as road circuit which is hardly acceptable to held such event. Furthermore the planned resort still far from complete and the whole island hotel accomodations will never enough for spectators and fans. The location will stray away the locals which is essential for the circuit to survive in future.
@@ethos- Where did you find that number? Mandalika has a capacity of 188,000 spectators.
The island has a lot of resort enough for the spectators but it's far from the circuit. I think the planned resort got delayed because of covid. I mean under this circumstance even a lot of existing resort/hotel are struggling and bankrupt, so they think twice to build new hotels/resorts.

And after visiting more than 10 circuit around the world, it safe to say Mandalika would never had ability to accommodate such number at current progress. Be real dude
@@ethos- I read it in their website, 50.000 are for the grand stand seating and 138.000 are for non-seated area.
@@sekar9901 The 50K capacity in Mandalika including temporary bleacher which is not a full grandstand. The non seated capacity is still becoming a debate because we yet to see any progress on side hill along the track. It is normal for a company that hold the circuit rights to exaggerate. Wait till it pass all the safety conduct and gain FIA/FIM certificate. It will be different especially when Mandalika said the swamp and reserve greenery around the circuit is protected by law and need to integrate with newly planned resort. Which mean the space for non seated area in jeopardy (the dispute land with villagers).
The introduction is actually very decent! Love to see it.
And if Mandalika's track width is actually as wide as rendered in this video, it's rather suitable for F1 races. It's like Hungaroring, only wider.
One day Mandalika will host an F1 race. Belive me!

Back then the track are proposed to having 19 corners, but dunno why it cut into 17, the changes are on turn 10 and around turn 5 to 8. They also change the race control and pit garages design.
the Mandalika project is rumored to have an artificial lagoon for the " sultans " cruise ship, about 50 meters on the edge of the circuit and riders hotel on the center of the circuit with tropical taste. #seeyouMandalika 😁🌴☀🇮🇩🙏

Great Video Buddy, i really hope F1 can race in Indonesia, and if it's happen, i hope Rio Haryanto will be a special guest or become the commentator for the GP, because he is still the one and only indonesian driver that ever compete in f1 races back in 2016 (even though he was not racing for full season due to financial problems) i'm still proud of him at least.

@@abulato with how poorly these cars handle even standard type corners in these sims Macau would end up having maybe 3 cars complete the scheduled distance.. assuming the carnage could be cleared before the time limit came into play

Me as a martin brundle be like in final lap: this is absolutely epic. Because leclerc is gaining even without using a DRS and you can see at slow motion, they just a little minimal closer for overtaking sainz. This is another closest finish in f1 history since ferrari in indianapolis back in 2002
In the case of DRS it wouldn't have been as close as it did.

In my opinion, Indonesia hosting an F1 race is not impossible, but improbable. I mean, It's definitely not cheap to host an F1 race, and especially since THE motorsport for Indonesian is MotoGP. Malaysia also stopped hosting F1 races a few years ago since it's just not that profitable. Hopefully though, if Indonesia will ever host an F1 race here, it will bring F1 to the spotlight in Indonesia.
