    Why has the music stopped?
I wish the world was still like it was in the 1970s and 80s.
But it isn't and never will be again. Those of us who lived it will never forget it and no one can ever take that away from us.

I was a navigator on a Blackhawk helicopter unit in the 90s. My Squad was the Night Shadows and our helicopter was called Midnight Angel. It was tradition to play this song every time we left for a mission. To this day nothing pumps me up more than this song!

I was at the tale end of 16 in 1982 when this fantastic song came out and I am now 57. I consider myself very fortunate to be at a prime young age during the 80's experiencing some of the greatest music ever. Back then I could have never envisioned myself as 57 but I can tell all the young people today what the old people told me back then which was "enjoy it because life goes by fast".

Another 57 year old here; yeah, where did that time go, anyway? I didn't care for the latter part of the decade as much, but the early 80s was incredible for rock music. The list of great albums and songs that came out between 80 and 83 in particular still stuns me.

Their styles are completely different: One is a rock diva, the other is a pop-music & style icon and dancer-entertainer. It's like comparing Ann Wilson (Heart) to Lady Gaga.
That said, I would say that Pat had/has the better voice by far, but Madonna was more versatile and pushed more societal boundaries for women (pop singers or not) of her time. I ❤️ them both, for different reasons.

We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
You said, "Oh, girl, it's a cold world when you keep it all to yourself"
I said, "You can't hide on the inside, all the pain you've ever felt"
Ransom my heart, but baby, don't look back 'cause we got nobody else
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
You know that sometimes, it feels like, it's all moving way too fast
Use every alibi and words you deny that love ain't meant to last
You can cry, tough baby, it's alright, you can let me down easy, but not tonight
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
And now the hands of time are standing still
Midnight angel, won't you say you will?

It is so engrained in a certain time, a certain place with a new and exciting relationship that eventually went sideways because of my immaturity. Listening makes my mind wander back to that time, with fond but bittersweet memories of just how poorly I handled the situation. Some life lessons can only be learned by first-hand experience!

Still love this song and this video. Love the cameos from Bill Paxton ( RIP ) and Judge Reinhold. Took me until now to realize how good Pat looks with long hair lol

I've listened to this song countless times, there's just something about it that no other song has, maybe it's just because pat benatar sung it, or the particular way the guitar is being played, but I know one thing, I'll still be rocking out to this song on the day I die 🤘🇺🇲

Her voice and passion but the melody and music go right through you into another realm of just being exalted and lifted up. it's stirring, haunting and so energized with human yearning and coming out of an ordinary existence. The image of her working on the machines and in her mind going to another place. We've all been there, wanting more then just the living an ordinary life of existence and work.

Don't think there will ever be another singer like Pat Benatar.
