Bro you put in a lot of work last year pumping out tons of fascinating videos. Thanks for all the hard work, and I’m looking forward to everything u post this year 👍
I'm a big CPS3 fan. If he can actually get it done, then I'm all for it. Let's be honest for a moment though... RetroRGB announced in November of 2021 that CruzLink2 sent a CPS3 to Jotego. It's been 3 years. It took him 1 year to have people vote on if people wanted CPS3 next (he posted on October 11th, 2022.) He then announced on January 30th 2023 that there has been a dedicated developer working on it for 4 months funded by patrons. So it's been 2 years since that post and in theory 28 months with effectively no updates. The only update I'm aware of is from April 2024 where he announced that it would take about "15 man months" to go through things and they would consider just porting MAME. I appreciate what Jotego has done... but come on... the CPS3 feels like yet another vaporware promise. "Distracted" isn't an excuse.
@VideoGameEsoterica he has to be trolling at this point... he just posted yesterday on Twitter that he should get back to cps3 at some point. 😭 I hope he does, but how this is anything but bait is beyond my understanding.
Unfortunately, with arcade hardware, there are usually custom chips that need to be reverse engineered... For instance, I looked into the Psikyo games, they have a custom video processor that will need to be reversed before we can have those games... You are right though, the SH2 will definitely help.
Has SRG completely finished the Hitachi SH2 code for the Saturn core or is he still tweaking that code while he's cleaning up the few remaining non-functioning games? Or has this chip code been finished for a while and all the other core work is Sega Saturn specific?
Yeah CV1000 is the dream but we would need a DE10 nano successor. Some of those games are ported to the Switch but with varying degrees of input lag. But if you want games like Muchi Muchi Pork it’s Xbox 360 only and they are so expensive. I’m still holding out for Mushihimesama Futari on Switch and who knows, maybe these games will run even better on Switch 2.
