Sun's gunchucks are so funny to me, everyone is always so surprised. Remember, if there's one thing you know about RWBY, its that if its a weapon, it's also a gun.
Sun’s weapon is awesome! There’s a reason why one of the most quoted sayings from the show is “It’s also a gun.”
The animators asked to cut out Sun from the show because his fights were so much dificult to animate 😂😅
Keep watching, Weiss gets a *whole* lot better as the seasons progress.
Penny's swords are stored in the backpack that she wears and they're connected via extremely thin cables that you can see when she uses them to pull herself and the ship. And yes, Penny is a very powerful character... not that there are many "weak" characters among the huntresses and huntsmen, even those in training.
Also, you found the after credit sequence in this Volume - there's an after-credit scene at the end of each volume with the exception of Volume 9. You'll see why people downplay the graphics for Volume 1, there's an immediate improvement next Volume and it's immediately obvious.
I think 6 or 7 has no end credit scene either can't remember which one

The whole volume Sky keeps saying things that are incredibly accurate theories or accidental foreshadowing - on the spot nailed something that won’t be revealed until volume 4, I almost screamed - and then turns around and says a completely wrong theory with absolute confidence and the whiplash is wild lmao

Everybody seems to miss that line…
Volume 1 Weiss is not meant to start out likeable. She grows over time and it's a great thing to see.
It was not the principal who picked up Penny at the end.
Ruby whispers a pretty funny line about the time the first tumbleweed rolls by.
Sometimes, the "where did they go" or "how did they get there so fast" moments are done for comedic effect at least in this volume.
For more of the world there is a mini-series "world of Remnant", it has several episodes for volumes 2, 3 and 4. Originally they were released as placeholder to give one more week to work on the episode proper, but they are related to plot, explaining stuff like kingdoms, dust, semblances and so on more
Yeah, the Volume 1 finale is always going to be such a good moment.
Also, if you want, you should definitely react to the soundtrack (for volume 1) as it gives more characterization to the characters and such.

Guys lol, Weiss is was not supposed to be in good faith early on when talking about the faunus and the White Fang. When Weiss mentioned the police, she wasn't saying that to have the police help them look, she suggested the police so that they could arrest Blake.
I hope you'll be reacting to the soundtrack, too. It's amazing and honestly gives a lot of insight into the characters
One correction. The head master, Ozpin was not in the car with Penny. I had also made that mistake the first time I watched. Penny was speaking to someone you won't meet until later. Ozpin was someplace else when we received the cryptic message from Qrow.
You two have been really fun to watch so far. Feels more like watching the show with some old friends than typical youtubers. I also deeply appreciate that you guys are paying attention to the world building and little character details. That cant be said for a lot of other channels when it comes to this show. Cant wait to see more from you guys!

I agree with what you said about what makes the show good. The animation is quite limited (there's a few *awful* scenes) but they are talented enough to play with it. Like the tumbleweeds here, it makes no sense if you're trying to do quality animation, but if it's a bit messy anyway you might as well have fun.
And it still works because you can see the bones of an interesting world, and interesting characters. And you want to know what they're gonna do next.
When you realize that Yangs Absence in this episode after Penny shows up is the Yellow Trailer, because she was looking for Blake.

Weiss is a deeply troubled and bigoted person in Volume 1. What makes her a fan favorite, is that we realize this is her lowest point. She only gets more compassionate, more supportive, and more thoughtful as time goes on. She never loses her uptight, prideful attitude, but she learns how to use it to be more dignified, and what is worth being proud of. You've seen her at her worst, she only gets better from here.
And thats a great way to describe the show. The Nevermore fight, and the finale fights are still some of my favorite scenes, but Volume 1 is one of the hardest season's in the show. The pacing is sluggish, the animation is rough, and the characters are pretty basic. But thats the thing, despite all of its flaws, you can see the heart of this show, all the amazing things this story has to offer, and it only gets better. Volume 2 is a personal favorite of mine, it has everything I love about this show, and while future seasons will do different aspects of the story better, the next season is a complete package in my opinion.

Guys, you missed some subtle things in this episode (mainly because you were talking over them). When Penny revealed she knew Blake was a cat girl; Ruby muttered to herself "She does like Tuna a lot." The fire girl's character name is Cinder. It's listed in the credits, since she spoke in this episode. And yes, she's the same one who fought Glenda in the first episode. So she and Roman Torchwickspin said he knew a dusty old crow have been teemed up for a long time (and Cinders the boss). Then there's the final shot where Ospin is looking at his scroll. On it is a message from Quow (Ruby's uncle crow, who taught her at Signal Academy). The message said "The Queen has Pawns". And Ospin said he knew a dusty old crow, back in episode one. Hummmm. The plot deepens.
Also, I'm not sure if they caught this, but the funny line when penny suspected blake to be a man. Had me LOLing my guts out the first time I heard it.

You all are seeing it, there is a reason Weiss has over the years become the darling of the entire RWBY fandom. And it's entirely based on the character development she has had from day 1.

You should watch the World of Remnant volume 2 mini-episodes over the course of volume 2! They give context and background for some in-universe stuff that the show doesn't have time for.
So Rwby took a Destiny type of approach where they tell their world building not through the show itself but through a side series called "World of Remnant". I find them a slog to watch, just being big lore dumps but they exist and people recommend watching them as you watch the mainline show.
And yeah, people will also recommend listening to the OST's for each season after finishing it, mainly because it's great music but the lyrics do give insights on characters.
eh almost everything in WoR is in the show too. It's just easy to miss when it's not all in one concrete place

This is the first time I saw people liking the visual of the first volume. I liked it since the characters are more detailed but the environment just looks bad. And the fact they don't have generic people on the background, just shadow people lol
You should treat RWBY volumes like Marvel movies....there's almost always a post-credits scene to watch.

I been Rwby fan forever I am enjoying your reactions. This show is so deep in fairytale lore! You will love it. Ruby is based on Red Riding Hood, Weiss is Snow white, Blake is Beauty and the Beast her last name is even Belladonna and Yang is Goldilocks all the jokes with her hair. Ozpin is based on the Wizard of Oz. Glinda Goodwitch is based on the goodwitch from wizard of Oz. Nora is Thor, Jaune is based on Joan of Arc, Pyrrha is based on Achilles from greek lore and Li Ren is based from the story Fa Mulan also he was voiced by Monty before his death his death in 2015 not character the creator of the show. Sun is based on Sun Goku and Penny is Pinocchio. I don't want to give away any other characters but if you want to know where the characters were inspired from i am your guy:)
You're very close! Weiss is based on Snow White ("Mirror Mirror" is the name of her main song). Also, Sun (the RWBY character) is based on Sun Wukong, the legendary monkey king (Goku from Dragon Ball is also based on Sun Wukong)

Weiss finally takes a step in the right direction, and she keeps going! TBH I wish instead of "I don't care" she would have asked Blake to explain her side of the story. They come from very different backgrounds, so it would have been a nice chance for them to learn from each other. But hey, it's a start.

I think they were comparing the woman in the end credits scene to Blake because they both have dark hair, yellow-ish eyes, and the woman in the end credits scene still has her face partially hidden in shadows, so it's harder to find differences

Honestly, it's funny how their guesses are getting better and better. The epicness of a battle between Penny and Phyria, the guess about Penny being a super-soldier, they are getting a lot better at guessing what will happen next, which makes the fact that they are both correct, and very very wrong, so funny to me.

Weiss is the most like character for years and Ruby was hated. Really really hated.
People is nitpicky on how... A cardboard character Ruby is and even tho she had her character development, people still hated her for the sake of hating her.
