    An easier solution is to have a water bottle by your bed and drink it the minute you feel pain, the pain will subside quickly. But ive noticed if you just take magnesium glycinate and hydrate, you wont even have this problem.

    Jumping out of bed (as soon as I feel the cramping starting up), and standing up on my feet, makes mine go away, immediately. Also, getting enough potassium in my diet, keeps them away for me.

    After the first year keto, magnesium was no longer enough to prevent foot and calf cramps. I finally listened to the support group and supplemented potassium as well. After a few more months, cramps returned until I upped my salt. Now after 7 years I better not skip a second day on all three! And I have increased my water intake diligence!

    It took a long time but I finally tracked mine to sugar at night close to bedtime. This could get very long here, but as I’ve gotten older the cramps have gotten worse. As long as I stay away from sugar at night or heavy carbs like white beans or macaroni salad and such. I don’t get cramps. If I mess up and get cramps, I pray and drag myself to refrigerator and guzzle a glass of milk which knocks it within a minute it two or pickle juice if on hand a swallow or two, but then I still chase it with some milk! Sounds gross but it works. Years ago orange juice and bananas worked great, but now too much sugar in those. Recently I ate a lot of candy one night and must have lost my mind, but I had cramps from hell for several hours and nothing worked until a lean one protein drink from GNC. Still needed one more protein drink. There’s more but that it’s enough. No sugar at night!!!!!

    • @talk2deb
      @talk2deb 2 года назад +6

      Crystal River777 Pickle juice works for me too. I agree on the sugar! also I noticed if I had anything with high fructose corn syrup, or some strange glucose ingredient, I’m guaranteed bad night cramps.

      I have spinal stenosis @46 years old. The last two years I'm in so much pain. I recently started to learn the cramps in my feet & toes aren't from my spinal stenosis. I recently started magnesium. Helps tremendously. I can move about 15-30% more now. In the evening I snack on cookies or chocolate candy. My God to stretch or turn over is like electric shocks through my back and down my legs. Before magnesium my legs and toes felt like continued Charlie horses that never gone away. I wonder does anyone get a chest cramp when taking magnesium? Its not continuous just, here and there.. also, potassium.. how do you know when you need potassium too? I only drink water all day. I found going and getting propel drink sometimes helps.
      Any suggestions on inflammation on lower lumbar pain?

    • @crystalriver7772
      @crystalriver7772 2 года назад +4

      @@jenniferelliott8021 like I mentioned in post, no sugars at night. Try no cookies and chocolate after maybe mid afternoon at the latest for a light snack and at night only a light protein and vegetable. Not even fruit. When I eat like this I never get cramps. I have back injury as well and seems to make things even worse. Two life changing supplements are Tumeric with Boswellia and the most amazing is Bioastin 12 mg. Try to get majority of sugars and high carbs out of you diet. One treat I have every now and then at night is French fries with no problem probably because of the fat and potassium in the potatoes. I have to go . God speed! Also no sugar drinks!

    There can be many causes for leg cramps. Not everyone is the same on this subject. I've tried bananas, gatorade, magnesium, stretching, and others. For me, I've found, that if I'm going to have a physically strenuous day, I need to drink lots of water with himalayan salt added to it. Or Switchel with same salt added. I can tell, when my fingers start to feel like they're going to cramp, I've gone too long without my "salt-drink."

    Magnesium definitely and also a bar of cheap soap in the bed. Place soap bar on cramp whether foot or calf. Weird but it works.

    Best thing that helps so many is keeping tonic water on-hand to chug!! It has quinine in it and will stop your cramps in less than a minute or two!! Tonic with lime tastes better. Amazing!! Dr told me about it and it works for everyone I’ve suggested it to! Our sports teams carry it too now.

    Absolutely, my whole leg and thigh would be in the worst pain. It's dehydration. I keep at least 20 oz of water on my nightstand. Drink it immediately it'll stop.

      It will stop anyway. What defines drinking enough water?

    i used to have problems sleeping at night because of leg cramps. I found out that drinking 100+ energy drinks helps. if not, I'll take the calcium magnesium zinc tablet. The trick is only to take it or drink the 100+ when at night having cramps. it's like a sleeping pill. help me sleep like a baby. i also prefer sleeping on my marble floor, as it also cools my legs. ailments oil does also help sometimes.

    For the first time in about 3 or 4 years I've experienced a cramp on the unferr side of my calf. I feel like getting shot or hit with a bat. Excruciating. What I did was place my foot on the ground and figuratively massage my calf. It helped a little but the pain was still intense unless it for about a minute or half a minute. For the rest of the day I was walking in a limp. It was a doozy cramp out of nowhere
