man they really need to gather all the professional recorded live footage and make a Live DVD album. cos their live shows are completely different and sound so freaken amazing with all the included solos which aren't on the original albums!
This was a fucking -brilliant- performance of this song. Possibly the best I've ever seen. Shame they had to cut the last half out, but that was probably due to festival set limitations or the rain.
I love this stripped back set up. I saw them in 08 at the height of their "excess" (in terms of people on stage.) This five piece Mars Volta lets the songs breathe and I think they benefit from it.
@Carnane You're right. I was just thinking of the live versions with Blake Fleming. (Which are also awesome) They just have great drummers. No one can argue that.
I've heard that Omar and Paul Hinijos are working on a DVD of live and backstage footage which will tell the story of Mars Volta when they breakup whenever that should be, not soon I hope! Should be interesting!
Yeah they're friends, and TMV have featured on their stuff. Look up Cotopaxi from this same performance (should be in the sidebar --->) and he dedicates the performance to Mastodon.
Still haven't told me whats the innovation. But as you say, we could argue till the end of time, there is no truth when it comes to art, only questions.
It seems like TMV is hit or miss live. Ive only been to one live show which sounded okay, but i've heard horror stories seeing them live (from fans). I think most of the blame goes to the sound engineers running the live mixes. TMV have so many instruments that if you don't know what you are doing with the mix, it will sound like a wall of noise (ala slipknot live). Their cd's always sound the best.
@Brizel023 Normally with Omar, I'd feel kinda jipped by what you said. However, the solos sound amazing, and the rest of the song is basically a rhythm section orgasm anyway. And plus, I don't mind as much when it's Juan Alderete and Thomas Pridgen (though, I prefer Theodore's drumming on this track. Pridgen's style is just a little too...flashy for this song. I love him, though).
Of the ones I've seen, this is hands-down Cedric's best vocal performance of this song. Amputechture is an amazing album.
Juan Alderete always SOLID!
Hell yea !!! He’s mad underrated
Hoping he makes a full recovery one day soon
@@MrThom89 he just posted a picture of himself with Jon Theodore and he looked so much better
Man , this is one of my favorites guitar riffs of all time.
This is my favorite riff, period. It's so simple and technical and groovy at the same time.
Don't get me started on the drums.
Luckily it rained to put out all the melted heads.
This is such a great performance. Cedric's vocals are so tight.
el espíritu de los rock esta vivo en estos chicos, aguante volta chabon que metalica ni foo fighters estos se los cogen a todos de parados
It hurts so much that they cut the streaming before the song ended...
i love seeing mastodon in the background all bobbing their heads
Whenever I feel down I just watch this video and remember that there are good things in the world x
this band is absolutely mind-blowing. i wish other people would take the time out to see this band live.
What could be better than watching the Mars Volta in the rain!?
They need to film every one of their shows in HD!!! This is bad ass!!!
Juan Aldrete de los mejores bajistas en el mundo!!
I fucking love this band so much
I was there!! Latterly everyone hated this and I loved it… even more because no one got this. Amazing show
my favorite band, the music is great, and it's awesome because they don't forget their latin roots, and they do it by singing in spanish. GREAT!!
i hoep one day to see this footage in it entiretly with 4k ultra surround sound melt your face subwoofers
Look at how much fun Thomas has! 5:44 Great to see him kickin in a drum solo like that!
So grateful to have seen this in Dallas when they played it for the only time on the reunion tour last month

...and it was raining like hell!! absolutely loved the concert! ;)
This was peak Mars Volta.
I love this stripped back set up. I saw them in 08 at the height of their "excess" (in terms of people on stage.) This five piece Mars Volta lets the songs breathe and I think they benefit from it.
excellent point.
Saw them in Chicago playing this live...AMAZING :o
this is incredible. One of the greatest bands currently making music
They are FANTASTIC live. Got to see them in Toronto!
juan killin it as usual
Wow this is a band thats warmed up and in the zone, killer performance
I got one at the show in San Antonio! They got them at the merch table! It is badass - Oakland Raider style and Cedric with an eyepatch.
loveeeee the jacket!!!!!!!!!!!
Niiice! Wish it was the whole song though, cuts out on the best part. Love the jacket =]
I have yet to see a rhythm section as tight as Juan and Thomas... It's fucking unbelieveable. TMV is the most rhythmic innovative band in years
the bass sounds so fucking sweet
Seen these guys in 2006 open for the Peppers been a fan since ....
@fastyen It's a custom Ibanez Jet-King. They make an Omar signiture model, but not in his new orange color.
I'm with you, man.
that bass! juan is the killer
They are everything music should be
@Carnane You're right. I was just thinking of the live versions with Blake Fleming. (Which are also awesome) They just have great drummers. No one can argue that.
That GROOVE
i wonder who managed to cut it at the end like this! i miss my favorite part of Cedric singing
Sickkkk
@joshstanley56 He played it on the album version.
It was his last album before he left.
@joshstanley56 Oh, most definitely. And Deantoni Parks coming in is fantastic.
His work on Omar's solo stuff is amazing.
I've heard that Omar and Paul Hinijos are working on a DVD of live and backstage footage which will tell the story of Mars Volta when they breakup whenever that should be, not soon I hope! Should be interesting!
It sounded so much better right at the end...
Don't mind me, i'm just going to sip my tea. :p
Pridgen was amazing.
Holy shit is that Brann Daylor of Mastodon at 0:47 in the background?
deviation1000 Was just thinking the same thing.
Steve Rauscher I know Cedric was featured on a track on Blood Mountain, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is him!
deviation1000 definitely him
good catch!
Yeah they're friends, and TMV have featured on their stuff. Look up Cotopaxi from this same performance (should be in the sidebar --->) and he dedicates the performance to Mastodon.
it cut out at my favorite par t:(
❤
Muy ecléctica la música de la banda!
Mastond drummer back side seems to love it
omar is the best guitar player ever :D
Jesus it scared the crap out of me xD
Q grande este Cedric.... Se manda un mate cocido mientras canta!
Anyone please upload a cover of that guitar solo from 4:30 to 5:30
easily my favorite band next to metallica and iron maiden and right after them comes nirvana and chili peppers all amazing bands
Cedric nailed this one I think. So cool.
if i could play as well as any of these guys id probably spend 15 plus hours a day playing....or is that putting the cart before the horse? so awesome
@poopdroop69 Probably because the falsetto is less taxing on his voice, so he can project it a lot more.
Still haven't told me whats the innovation. But as you say, we could argue till the end of time, there is no truth when it comes to art, only questions.
Omar got that riff down! Threw in some harmonics and bends for fun too
sweet song for sure. the rhythm section is unreal. cedrics voice is cool as hell.
great set in toronto
4:56 uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh the mars volta's jacket!
i want one too!
@alizeexyloveyou pridgen live, and theodore in the studio is how i like them.
they already put that out, 2 years ago dude, unless your refering to a 2nd album..that i have not heard of
How do they play this song without Adrian?
I'm assuming Ikey or Marcel plays the saxomophooone part on a keyboard or summat.
Puedo escuchar a Marcel=)
haha yeah, Mastodon and Volta are two of the greatest bands out there
i want that jacket so bad xD ,i'm gonna make myself one ahaha
you can actually hear Marcel or Am I hallucinating?
the jacket it's availabe to buy ? on mars volta store or something, i've been searching and i didn't found nothing....
This video is so sweeeeeet =D
CLOWNIN ON ALL OF US WITH THAT JACKET! GOT DAMN THAT JACKET IS SEXY.
Has Cedric got an eye patch on his left eye of the back of his t-shirt? Great vid btw best quality video of seen of them tbh
Yea an homage to Oakland raiders

tight
There are like 3-4 minutes of this song that are cut off!?!? The song is not nearly over at 6:47?! what the heck! where do i find the full video at??
@Carnane Theodore never played this track. Though his iteration would be so sweet.
Is it Brann Dailor who appears at the backstage?
It just not the same without the Sax parts. Isn't Adrian comeing back in the next few months or so?
oh my god. that's so cute. cedric has a jacket with him and his buddy on it. :3
5:45 MICROPHONE
that's an awesome drum bit starting at 5:44 :)
Dude the solo in this song is so boss...Wait but Thomas is gone from the Mars Volta???
uffff i love the guitar solo at 4:50 ritmo sabroso¡¡¡¡
@the13thmintcar I disagree. There are definitely bands that rise among the rest. Like Dream Theater or Rush or Muse.
o aye that will be sweet! but i hope they never break up tho!!
Come on , why cut the song ? :S
Is that guy with headphones on a laptop back there their FX mixer?
OHH FUCK YEH MORE PROSHOT
love this video. you can hear marcel a lot better.
omg, cedric is soooooo hot *-----*
BEST PSYCHEDELICAL EXPERIENCE
Why, why, why!? Why is does the video cut just as the encore is coming in!?
yea i saw brann around 0:49.
Check out Brann Dailor from Mastodon rockin along lol 0:48 haha awesome.
