Thanks for showing this Lamont😎👍My favorite quote that I will never forget hearing Gorilla Monsoon say at Wrestlemania & that is : "The Irresistible Force Meets The Immovable Object ". Rest In Peace Gorilla Monsoon🙏
I grew up watching wrestling in the mid 80's, when I was a little kid, and still watching now, never get bored. My childhood memories, along with watching the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls Blackhawks, and Soxs. Thanks for doing this video of him.
What a beautiful day to be outside. Bright blue skies, with leaves starting to turn colors. Thank you Lamont. Your videos are always worth watching. Love to you from Missouri!
Gorilla Monsoon was a legend! I liked how he christened superstars titles like Bret Hart “The Excellence Of Execution” and he used to call The Undertaker “One Of The Odds On Favorites” yelled out “Tombstone City” when Taker performed his finishing maneuver. He used to tell Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, “Will You Stop It” Rest In Paradise Gorilla Monsoon
Thank you, Lamont, for this spotlight on Gorilla Monsoon. He did make quite an impact while a heel, wrestling for Vince McMahon Sr. He did cause a disturbance at the Empire State building after losing a high level match. He was truly a gentle giant outside the ring. While you're in the Camden area, try to go to Harleigh Cemetery. It is where Walt Whitman is buried. He is renown for being a celebrated poet, and abolitionist. His poem `Oh Captain, My Captain!' about Abraham Lincoln's demise has been immortalized in literary circles, and in the film Dead Poets Society. Harleigh, also called Camden County Veteran's Cemetery, is at 1640 Haddon Ave. in Camden. I think you'll find his biography fits your informative style very well.
Great job Lamont for keeping the best commentator in the WWF history gorilla monsoon ! His sidekick Bobby the brain Heenan were the two best commentators that the WWF and WWE ever had 👍
When you talk about old wrestling days, I can't help but remember my great grandmother watching wrestling every Saturday night back in the early 70s! She always tickled me! Her favorite was" burrhead Jones " I remember watching in black and white. We would sit there in her little den with TV trays eating tomatoes and onion sandwiches. Sweet memories! From Montgomery al 🙏 ❤️
He also had a son named Joey, who was a referee in the WWF at the time he was there, but he was killed in a car accident. It was great watching Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan host together on WWF. Monday nights on USA Network started out as Prime Time Wrestling then later become RAW and is now known as Monday Night RAW.
Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon were one of, if not the best commentary duos of all time, and of course Heenan was an icon back in the day...possibly the greatest manager of all time. He mentioned Gorilla not once but twice in his HOF speech...the first time when he was talking about some of the wrestlers/mascots that were in the then WWF when he first arrived...the second was a special tribute at the end where he was talking about being honored in NYC, and then he paid tribute to Monsoon by saying "only one thing is missing...he then utters the line "I wish Monsoon was here". Then he blew a kiss and pointed up to acknowledge Monsoon immediately before ending his speech. Anyone who hasn't seen it, it is well worth the roughly 20 minute long speech in it's entirety. Bobby even managed to have a bit of fun at the expense of Pete Rose, who was also part of the HOF class of '04.
Wow Lamont. I'm old enough he was in the ring as a wrestler the first time I ever watched. He was always a favorite and I loved him as a commentator too. Thanks for visiting him. He should be remembered.
Lamont, thank you for showing this! Great memories of Jesse the Body and Gorilla Monsoon doing commentating. Also, Lord Alfred Hayes and Bruno Sanmartino.
Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby the Brain Heenan were my favorite WWF show hosts on Saturday mornings. I can still hear Gorilla telling Bobby, "Will you stop!" Hilarious.
Hi Lamont. Love your vlogs. I love it when you profile the Graves of the WWF superstars. Like you. I grew up watching WWF greats like Gorilla Monsoon. Jake the Snake Roberts, Owen Hart, etc. I used to love the flamboyant managers like Bobby the Brain Heenan, Classy Freddie Blassie, Captain Lou Albano etc. I loved them all. I used to love the rivalry between Jake the Snake Roberts and Ravishing Rick Rude. Remember how Rick Rude used to taunt Jake by saying that he was going to give Jake's wife Cheryl the "Rude Awakening " !!! Remember that??? Good times, good memories. The WWF was fire back in the 80"s. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I appreciate you Lamont.
I remember him well. My son is your age and we even went to matches. I remember some matches in the 60’s with Bruno Sanmartino but not Gorilla. Thank you for sharing
i did not know he has passed away for more than 20 years. man, how sad that he experienced the loss of his child at his twilight years. rest in peace to both of them.
I can remember Gorilla talking about Muhammad Ali's wrestling skills: He doesn't know the difference between a wrist lock and wrist watch! Great stuff!
Gorilla Monsoon owned part of the then WWWF with Vince McMahon SR. The agreement was if he sold his shares of the company to Vince JR, he'd get a job for life. Also, good as he was with Jesse, his best banter was with Bobby The Brain Heenan. Gorilla also owned part of The Territory in Puerto Rico with Carlos Colon. He was a very smart business man. Always carried wads of cash on his person.
Hi Lamont, Gorilla was one of the BEST wrestling broadcasters ever !!!!! His wrestling career was before my time. You have to check out footage of him calling matches with Bobby "the brain"
He was the friend of a co-worker and would stop by the office for lunch back in 1979. I didn't follow wrestling and never realized he was Gorilla Monsoon, he was always Mr. Marella to me. Nice guy, a gentle giant.
Monsoon was also paired up with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and they had a great rapport with each other. They worked extremely well with each other, just like he did with Ventura. I think I read or heard that Heenan once said that he loved working with Monsoon and was the best time he ever had. I think it was said that they even had lunch or dinner with each other frequently and truly enjoyed each others company. True friendship. May Robert Marella, a.k.a. "Gino" and his son Joey continue to Rest Peacefully. They are missed!
Joey Marella last WWF ppv was king of the ring 94 . And Gorilla last ppv apearence was Wrestlemania XV 1999 . I love gorilla and Bobby on WWF Wrestling Challenge on Saturdays
Another good video man I will be scared to death to steal something off of grave you would definitely have to answer to that someday seem like those guys have stole that off of them grays I don't know how they sleep at night having that on their conscience but it is what it is thank you for the nice video
I do remember some WWF stars from back in the day but for me the one I remember the most is "Mean Gene" Okerlund, I do not know why but he was a big part of WWF for me as a kid. Nice video.
I really enjoyed watching Monsoon Ventura and Heenan they all three didn't make it as announcers they would easily made it as a comedy trio even when Big Bob the Gorilla and Bobby The Brain acted like they hated each other in real life they were like brother's I remember when Gorilla passed away you can see the Love Bobby The Brain had for Gorilla rest in peace Gorilla Bobby and Joey all three of you are well missed Loved and RESPECTED 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
Thanks for showing this Lamont😎👍My favorite quote that I will never forget hearing Gorilla Monsoon say at Wrestlemania & that is :

Rest In Peace Gorilla Monsoon🙏
Same here, awesome 👍😁💞
Him and Bobby The Brain were a comedy duo that was underrated. They argued and fought on camera but were close friends in real life.
Yeap. They were awesome on Monday nights.
"Would you stop that".
Janettey tried to dive through the window to escape! Did you see that? What an act of cowardism!
The Gorilla, was a decent man Bobby the brain.
Will you stop
Awww man! Reliving my childhood lol his voice was so legendary on WWF!! He made every match so exciting!! RIP Gorilla
I agree aswell
I grew up watching wrestling in the mid 80's, when I was a little kid, and still watching now, never get bored. My childhood memories, along with watching the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls Blackhawks, and Soxs. Thanks for doing this video of him.

He was such a great personality , loved him growing up with Jesse and Bobby
Definitely a part of our childhood. Great memories !!
I hope they both rest in peace 🕊️ fascinating story in a standard graveyard/cemetery
Wow Lamont. I'm old enough he was in the ring as a wrestler the first time I ever watched. He was always a favorite and I loved him as a commentator too. Thanks for visiting him. He should be remembered.

Good morning Lamont. May they rest in peace. Good commentary and content. 👍
Lamont, thank you for showing this! Great memories of Jesse the Body and Gorilla Monsoon doing commentating. Also, Lord Alfred Hayes and Bruno Sanmartino.
My step dad went to school with Goriila Monsoon in Rochester,NY. He was a tremendous wrestler back in the day.
Gorilla to Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan:
"Will you stop!"
Thank you ever so much for doing this.
I remember him doing commentary for WWF back in the 80s.
Also with his ongoing funds with Bobby heenan lol
Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby the Brain Heenan were my favorite WWF show hosts on Saturday mornings. I can still hear Gorilla telling Bobby, "Will you stop!" Hilarious.
This is the channel I never knew I needed! Great work my friend.
😎 RIP and so sad that the pics were stolen.
Even when he retired from the ring to do commentary, he still struck me as a guy who could TCB if necessary 🙂
Awesome video yaaaaayyyy!!!!
Gorilla was awesome. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby The Brain Heenan were awesome together too. R.I.P. Gorilla 🙏❤️

Good memories are the best, wonderful story
Thank you for this video and all that you do. 👍🏼❤
I really miss and enjoyed monsoons commentary. “Will you stop!!” I think about it all the time! just stumbled on this out of the blue. Sad ending.😢
I was a waiter in 1966. One nite I served dinner to Bruno Sammartino
Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan are the greatest announcing duo ever
I remember him well. My son is your age and we even went to matches. I remember some matches in the 60’s with Bruno Sanmartino but not Gorilla. Thank you for sharing
His time with Bobby Heenan was the best. Gorilla's son is also past on. He was a ref I believe. I think his first name was Joey.
I remember when Gorilla " quoted Jesse's motto: when if you can lose if you must but always chest. Comedy gold
Back to the Gorilla Position! Great memories.
thank you Lamont for the video
i did not know he has passed away for more than 20 years. man, how sad that he experienced the loss of his child at his twilight years. rest in peace to both of them.
Grate video 👍💪
10 MINUTES AWAY IN WILLINGBORO RIGHT NEXT TO THAT GRAVEYARD IN CINAMINSON
I live a few minutes from that cemetery. Camden is 20-30 minutes away! It's NOT right next to it.
Good morning Lamont.. 🎃
He was 62 years old when he died in 1999. He died the same year Rick Rude and Owen Hart died. God be with them three.
Gorilla was once a high school teacher. He and Jesse were really entertaining!
The early Wrestlemanias when he commentated with Jesse ventura. I love those times.
I can still hear Jesse saying, "Cmon Monsoon! Gimme a break." Great video. Amazing wrestling historical figures.
jesse ventura from predator lol Great Vid, Stay safe lamont!
Always upsetting to hear about vandalism in a cemetery🤬
Good ole wrestling days...Great stuff...

My all time favorite announcer.
Those were good times. "Would you stop that". He said that to Bobby Heenan a lot.

It's kinda weird to know that Gorilla was a revered man in his later years, and a feared heel in his younger years. Yikes!
I do remember some WWF stars from back in the day but for me the one I remember the most is "Mean Gene" Okerlund, I do not know why but he was a big part of WWF for me as a kid. Nice video.
