Montana is super adorable and clearly an expert. You guys built an amazing trailer, and we know Matt's gonna put it all to very good use. Making us all Texas proud.
Matt, my husband has been an insulator here in West Texas for decades. It is common for he and the crew to do vacuum jobs. They vacuum out all the old dirt, insulation, and such from attics. It could save you from tearing out those ceilings. I'm guessing you've had generations of raccoons, possums, foxes, etc, living in those attics. There are probably insulation companies near you who will do a vacuum job for you. Then you can re-insulate, and clear caulk between those ceiling boards.
It's cool seeing that backhoe. I retired from Cat 3 years ago. Back in the early 80's, I designed the original buckets, bucket linkages, the extendable stick, and several other systems on the backhoe loader. A lot has changed since then, but I was there at the very beginning. It's always cool seeing the backhoe on TV shows and movies knowing I played a big role in designing it.
@@henning_u I was a mechanical engineer in my early 20's. I had target weights, volumes, rotation geometry, and others on the buckets. Oh, what will the food situation be? I'm hoping for at least one day of communal dining (bed and breakfast style) in each week. Maybe on Sunday?
It doesnt matter how long the videos are, they always seem to end way too quickly! There is so much potential in this place and I am confident you will make the most of it! Keep up the good work!

There might be dirt over that rock for a reason. The water might drain out of your pond through it. We put clay liners in the bottom of a pond that has a lot of rock or sand to prevent that. Standard is 2' of clay.
This is exactly what I came to comment section for. I was thinking that immediately when he said he was going to try to make it deeper. It's very unlikely that bedrock is sealed enough and has no huge cracks to let all the water out. I'm not sure though. Maybe being constantly well fed is enough to keep a steady amount of water in a small pond?
The best part of these renovation videos is that they are so entertaining that you forget how long the renovation has been going on for, like with abandoned mansion
That alarm clock at 23:45 probably still works. I received one exactly like that as a high school graduation gift in 1991 and it finally just stopped working a couple of years ago. Best alarm clock I ever had. I went to look for another one like it to replace the one that stopped working and you can't find them anywhere.

I think you should have a massive work rally to have as many of your subscribers show up and work for 2 days straight. Think of the manpower of 200-500 people working their asses off. You could accomplish so much
If you plan on doing considerably more demo, a thumb unit excavator would be a really useful tool. You're also correct in thinking a loader would help. As would a dozer blade, brush cutter and mulcher attachment for the skid steer, for doing work on the grounds. The plates on the teeth are usually used for digging near existing underground lines, and it's less likely to puncture the pipe, than the teeth are. As someone who works in the heavy equipment sales/rental industry, I know these things are not cheap. But, they make the work so much more efficient. You're off to a great start with the pieces you have. I look forward to getting caught up on this series. Keep up the good work!
The pipeline requires the flat bars on the digging buckets as a safety precaution. They aren't as likely to puncture through a pipe in case of a line found in the wrong spot. Also, it gives the welders a nicer flat area to work under the pipe.
Getting Dirty Dancing vibes from those little cabins, so cool to gradually see everything, those two dumpsters are soon going to earn their keep at $700 a pop.
The 3 story cabins are the highlight of the property for me, I hope you find a way to save them, I would definitely book a room with a view those cabins offer!

I've been talking to my wife the last few months about starting a dumpster rental buisness. I'll definitely be taking a hard look at that Texas Pride trailer and more than likely buy one!
About that pond. You have a bunch of vegetation growing through it and that's a problem because you probably have a clay bottom liner to retain water in that pond and all those plants roots have punctured that liner so if you pull them out you'll tear a hole in your liner or if you chop them off at the base and leave the roots the roots under all that water in the Earth will eventually decompose and they will leave holes and gaps in the liner so basically there's no way around it you need to scrape that pond and have someone come in and put a clay Earth bottom liner to retain the water.

😊 Matt, I had an idea about why the previous owners might have left so much valuable stuff, including all of the wine behind. I remember you showing us the old financial records for the resort and that their losses in the final year amounted to $1•23 million. This is only a guess of course, but the previous owners might have had a substantial list of creditors & a bankruptcy. Between those creditors, there may have been substantial argument over who was entitled to what, financially speaking. When the disposable assets were itemised and the bankruptcy administrator finally assigned ownership, it may have come down to the creditors being made responsible for collection of said items and within a certain timeframe & failure to do so would mean that any and all debts would be deemed satisfied. Those assigned ownership might have found it more expensive than first imagined to do so and more than the individual asset/s were worth and decided not to bother, writing off the debts incurred instead.

Only 99 at 12:30 here in El Paso. Guess we are having a cool day. So much potential Matt. Can't wait to see the progress and take the kids when it's finally done.
Montana's description of the trailer reminded me of the court scene in My Cousin Vinny with Marisa Tomei when she was on the witness stand. Loved this!!
I have taken nothing but showers for years.! A female issue....anyway, now that I am older, a shower is all there is for me! Shower/ tub combos are best.
Matt, if you haven't already look into getting bigger fuel tanks/pumps on site. I wouldn't be surprised if they are already there from the resort. No more 5 gallon jugs, a truck comes out and fills them. A 500 gallon diesel fuel tank, 500 gallon tank with ethanol free fuel (ethanol free stores way better way longer and is better for small engines). The V10 just needs cheap 87 though since it gets 0 MPG around the ranch lol
Fantastic video! Great multipliers to the property! Those wooden slat ceiling? Don't tear them out...clean the attic space and put a barrier down to prevent dirt and debris from ever falling down again. Thank you all for your efforts! Desperado Ranch is going to be AWESOME!
From what I've picked up for ponds you don't wanna get all the way to bed rock because the water will find its way out and your pond will leak. You want clay down and then you can get a chemical to mix into the water that will help plug up any possible leaks. The best option would be too talk too Lunker he knows about building ponds from experience
The 3 level buildings are cool, you talked about replacing the showers with tubs BUT you need to remember the need for handicapped accessible bathrooms that require walk/roll in showers and no steps which I bet those bottom levels are set up as😊. Too cool!!!
I'm watching from New Zealand. I love this channel. The longer videos are needed for the bigger project. I'm in for the long haul of watching till the resort is operational.
Hey Matt love the shows like always. I have a suggestion for those wasp nests, spray them at night while they are sleeping and you will be less likely to be stung
There seems to be a copious amount of Red Wasps nests on the property. One of the best things I’ve found to combat wasps or yellow jackets is a bad-mitten racket. Wasp spray is great to kill the nest, but when they start chasing you, and they will absolutely come after you, spray is useless; a bad-mitten racket is pretty effective for knocking wasps out of the air.
Some of those smaller homes, aren't ugly ... and are nicer than a lot of homes in rural Texas ... keep that in mind when you're trashing your buildings. Just found you this past weekend and watched the abandoned mansion transformation. You're blessed and have found a very interesting (and profitable) niche.
Hi Matt, you should think about contatcting a home improvement reality show to see if they would do some sort of show with your cabins, You might get free renovations.
Watchin AND lovin. Don't get me wrong. I am a 58 year old mech tech and seein you do this awesome work "given" you are a vet guy, .... WELL, that is awesome.
Nice machine, a 4 in one bucket for the front would make a huge difference and it’s got the detachable front end so it would be super easy to get and change
I would get the Fountain working first then get the pool's cleaned out and see if either or both can be rejuvenated. I know you have the River there too, but a pool would be great for that summer heat in Texas. And the Fountain would be nice if restored. I know you have a lot of work to get to there and have enjoyed most the episodes. But would really like to see some progress making the resort useable even if is just youtubers like the group that helped clear the burnt building. Was bummed by the wine issues last episode or two. That sucked so bad all that wine spoiled. Hope you can salvage some of it. Anyway keep up the work. I know it is overwhelming but just tackle 1 structure at a time and really for guests a pool would be great....
I was so bummed when the abandoned mansion series finished, so I was beyond excited when you went bigger and better with the abandoned resort!!! And now for the next few years worth of content! Yesssss
As your a relative newbie to backhoes, if the Cat machine seems high reved and jumpy, prehaps look into swapping it out for a John Deere. Deere backhoes are a better known than the Cat variant. The plate on the teeth was likely for finish grading work to leave a smooth surface. You should either cut the plate off, or remove it all as a unit and install new tooth caps.
If you're planning to have it hold water, you need to make sure it doesn't have cracks in the rock or the water could drain through those cracks and no more water in the pond.
Matt, you need one of those Decked' tool boxes in the bed of your truck... they are pull out drawers the length of your bed, and waterproof. Also allow you to still use the bed... Would be a great sponsorship opportunity...

couldn't it also leak as well if not compacted?
What I was coming to say
But if he gets rid of the dirt completely down to rock, then say he seals it, how would it get muddy expect from whatever dirt the wind blows in?
Clay bottom. I have rich old othodontists in my family that moved to a manmade lake built for water skiing and it had the softest clay at the bottom

I have taken nothing but showers for years.! A female issue....anyway, now that I am older, a shower is all there is for me! Shower/ tub combos are best.
New resort video = One of the highlights of my day. Love to see the journey. Those drone shots was is so dope.
Man I can’t wait till 2, 3, 4 years down the line when this place is ready and fully operational
2-4 years fully operational, i give 1.5 years before they are atleast taking guests.
Same here..... I'll definitely be there in the first year it opens 🤘🤘
How adorable was Montana from Texas Pride! 😍
Very
Matt, if you haven't already look into getting bigger fuel tanks/pumps on site.
I love my Texas Pride trailer. They are good people and treated me well. Enjoy yours!
The rock walls in some of those buildings is so beautiful. Gonna be so epic with some updated interiors.
Absolutely loving the desperado resort episodes plus the hour long ones are a blessing.. Now 2 a week please lol
Hey Matt love the shows like always. I have a suggestion for those wasp nests, spray them at night while they are sleeping and you will be less likely to be stung
Matt is an insane person in the best way possible. Who would do this? I guess a Range with a full resort would be pretty dope.
Just another reminder for the wine opening. Use a torch instead of a screw to remove cork without a mess
I didint think of that good idea
Barrett 50 cal will open up those bad wines really quickly if you ask me and thats kinda in our alley
Hi Matt, you should think about contatcting a home improvement reality show to see if they would do some sort of show with your cabins, You might get free renovations.
Or just smaller youtubers
Have a contest between some of those smaller youtubers?
They do half ass work on those shows
Your edits are always phenomenal, always so good
Watchin AND lovin. Don't get me wrong. I am a 58 year old mech tech and seein you do this awesome work "given" you are a vet guy, .... WELL, that is awesome.
Shoutout Texas pride Montana not only knew her stuff she kinda hot talking trailer stuff.
Nice machine, a 4 in one bucket for the front would make a huge difference and it’s got the detachable front end so it would be super easy to get and change
Love seeing these longer videos. Thank you for your time matt.
Maybe you could build a nice little island in the middle of the pond with a tree or two for some of those exotic birds.
Love the 3rd floor of the condos. The wood walls would look awesome with black trim. Love all your videos

*”Dang, Look at that view”*
Matt, you did it again! I said it once, I say it again. You need to make a T-shirt with those words on it.
Well damn I think I need to book a trip to Montana 👀
I knew I was thinking it, I was scrolling to see who else what thinking it
I was wondering why all those trailers came from Texas Pride, I'm not wondering anymore callsign Montana... #DO NOT TELL MARE ABOUT THIS!!
As a gentleman, in the most respectful way, I gotta say.......serious babe!
Thanks for making my Monday a whole lot better. I would watch a 9 hour video
You should either cut the plate off, or remove it all as a unit and install new tooth caps.
a cool idea would be turning the pond into a fishing pond for kids.
We have these on our Maintenance Air Force Base in Luxembourg they are great and pretty easy to work on because parts are easily available 👍
If you're planning to have it hold water, you need to make sure it doesn't have cracks in the rock or the water could drain through those cracks and no more water in the pond.
Falling in love with montana 😅
Matt, you need one of those Decked' tool boxes in the bed of your truck... they are pull out drawers the length of your bed, and waterproof. Also allow you to still use the bed...
Would be a great sponsorship opportunity...
It is always amazing to see your dreams come to fruition. I believe in your dream and I am anxiously waiting for each episode as the dream unfolds. If I didnt have aging parents I would definitely offer my skills to help out and see this dream come true. You are an amazing father and husband for making adventures for your family and friends / coworkers. I am sure you won't stop finding adventures/dreams to follow. Thank you for being such a visionary.

That’s actually called a butter bar. They’re used for smoothing out dirt in the end product.
