To uninstall an Android app:
Swipe up on your home screen to reveal all of your apps.
Find the app you want to delete.
Hold down the app icon to reveal a pop-up menu.
Tap Uninstall.
Tap OK to confirm that you want to delete the app.
If you select an app that came built into your device, you might not have the option to uninstall. Instead, you’ll see a “Disable” button. Disabling an app will remove it from your home screen and disallow it from running or updating. To remove a built-in app, tap Disable. In the menu that appears, tap Disable to confirm. Apps that are essential to your device, such as Settings and Phone will not have the option to uninstall or disable.

I just got the new s24+...and the disable, uninstall option goes away before i can drag the app there! I mean that fast. It sounds ridiculous i know, but I'm serious. I 've uninstalled plenty of apps off my screens before so it's not user error. And these are not pre-installed. I know this is a dated post but it still comes up in a search. I'd appreciate any help.. this is driving me crazy!
App doesn't give me the option to dismiss
what about apps that's are not on my home screen? Like I can see them in the apps menu in settings but I can't find anyway to remove them or to even move them to my home screen and delete them the way you've shown.
Im with you.Cant remove the app in the app settings. Only disable it. 🤔
Have tried all of the above and it does not permanently uninstall the app it keeps installing itself

I tried holding down the unwanted apps for Uninstall and it doesn't give me the option to delete or Uninstall unwanted apps...

I followed your directions for removing an app. The only options I was given after pressing on the app button
were to see the app info or to pause the app. There was nothing which allowed me to delete. What is the proper procedure for deletion?
If the app is essential to your device's function/operating system you will not be able to delete it.
wrong. It prevents to delete not just essential apps. It also protects the pre-installed apps like youtbe. I wanted to remove youtube from my old phone mostly used by my kid. To my surprise, android doesnt allow me to remove youtube which is not essentail to run the android OS. Looks like either I have to root or install some kind of parental control both take time. It is lame that Android force users to use something that they dont need

This app I am trying to remove is postmark and it don't have that option to remove it or disable it. I have tried it several times.
Did it come pre-installed on your device? Some apps that the device manufacturer determines to be "essential" such as the Phone app will not be able to be removed.
