Great video! I searched for a while to find vids on updating an old car radio to add blue tooth. Too many vids do NOT show exactly how to do it, too many vids show complete hack work. I bought a very similar module from renhotecic p/n EB0042777 for about $20 USD. I fitted it to a 1971 Bendix L3UA pushbutton AM radio built for British Leyland vehicles of the period. The bluetooth module even has a mic so you can use it to make/receive calls on your cell phone just like modern cars!

Bro! I got the module you recommended there. and, based on your walkthrough was able to add bluetooth to my Jeep Grand Cherokee infinity gold stock head unit! It amazingly had an analog stereo switched pot for volume/power just like yours! Now I have great sound but no one would ever steal a “stock” radio! Great vid Thanks!

Yes I did a video of a bluetooth board with USB and microSD. Look back a few months, just search my channel for bluetooth and you should find it. Came with a remote control too. I wired it into my daughters car into her AUX input on her factory radio. She loves it.

Neat little board. I have a pair of Bluetooth wireless speakers that work on the 900mhz from a transmitter sold with the speakers. Unfortunately, they didn't come with 900mhz transmitter, when I picked up those speakers at a secondhand store. This receiver board could be what saves the day to get them back-up and working on a normal everyday Bluetooth freq. used by other regular Bluetooth transmitters I have lying around here at the house. I want the Bluetooth/self-built-in amplified speakers to receive XM radio signals while outdoors from a regular Bluetooth transmitter inside the house, hooked up to the XM Receiver. Each of the two self-amplified speakers I have here, can be used in both mono, and stereo modes, and can easily be moved around the outdoors without being hooked up directly with wires, so I can move them from the backyard to the front porch, by simply picking them up and moving them to a new location, even while in operation. I'm going to look more into this board you are using and see if it can be the savior of these speakers in keeping them wireless while in use. eBay price for the 900mhz transmitter would cost me around $60 to $70 in my country's currency, and that's not worth the price for what should cost around maybe $15 dollars at most for it, and it's only good for operating the 900mhz band, where this unit your showing, is good for operating in regular Bluetooth freqs. that regular, normal Bluetooth transmitters also work, link-up and operate on. I'll be looking into this further. Thanks for posting this video. You have my brain thinking in making the switch over of different Bluetooth receiving freqs. to these built-in amplified speakers.

Pretty nice board. Could be a bit smaller. I wonder how the differential output of the BT board is connected to the ground referenced input of the radio. All BT modules I have do generate excessive noise when connected to a non differential input without using one of those isolated DC-DC modules.

I recently installed the same BlueTooth board to my vintage dual knob Alpine. I tapped into the volume knob like you did. The system works as it should, but when I turn the Bluetooth on and off it makes an annoying pop sound thru the speakers. Any idea on how I can suppress the “Pop” sound and continue to listen to my music. Thank you for your informative content.

Hello there and thank you for the above video.. It's quite informative. I do have a request if i may.
I have an older car from the 70s and i was given a receiver, cassette player to replace the original radio that doesn't work right any longer.
The radio given is a Concord HPL-130. A bit more modern but not bad and It works fine.
Before putting it in the car, i wanted to do the Bluetooth change as you did above. I opened it and on the volume, ON/OFF etc, pot, there seem to be a million wires neatly soldiered on the 2 boards. (One on top and one on the bottom if i remember right). I don't have any diagrams to work with and i don't want to mess it up.
Can you help me by chance, as to where to solder the wires from the Bluetooth?
Thank you in advance and no emergency. The car is being put away for the winter so i have the whole winter to get it done....

Doing this on my 98’ ls400 with a different board from eBay but same principle. Have the tape deck in front of me with everything opened up to get to the equalizer board perpendicularly attached to the tape reader/loader. Found the R & L music output or input depending on how you look at it. Now am trying to find switched power source. Found the pin on the radio face and ground. The pin I’m thinking it is says “pow” short for power I’m assuming. Or is that maybe just a pin to give power to the faceplate? Without a multimeter or even a power source for that matter is there a way to figure out the switch button for either the faceplate in general or the tape button?

I did this with another board. Unfortunately, you get bluetooth chatter in the background. I think a DC DC converter (like a BO5055) should solve the problem. My plan is to place it in series on the input power and ground to the board. Anyone else run in to this issue? It sounds like the sound the old GSM cell phones would make if placed next to a speaker.

if you are going to do it you way you will need a switch so you can switch between the QAM Stereo radio input and the Bluetooth input, now a lot of radios supplied in cars have Bluetooth. but we have to thank a female actress from Austria who made America her home for inventing Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz[3]) from fixed and mobile devices, and building personal area networks (PANs). Invented by Dutch electrical engineer Jaap Haartsen, working for telecom vendor Ericsson in 1994,[4] it was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  6 лет назад

Why do you need a switch? This module I am showing, this specific one, not the other cheap bluetoooth ones out there has built in switching. You take the audio out from the radio preamp as it is going to the volume control and you send it to the bluetooth board, the audio return from the board goes to the input to the volume control. All switching is done on the board. That is what that relay is for, When bluetooth audio streams the mute line goes low, which trips the relay and feeds the BT audio to your radio. When the music stops, the mute line goes high, the relay de-energizes and the source audio is fed through.

    Hi there again.
Im going to use this method for my 1987 Audioline 550 car radio cassette.
The board im going to use www.amazon.com/dp/B07P94Z9XR/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?dchild=1&keywords=blutooth+module+drok&qid=1595251116&sr=8-16 has a audio relay with 2 connectors which are 3 pin molex sockets OUTPUT L/R/G/ And also has an AUX input which i guess is the same principle as your board will this work the same principle as you've explained
I did try another board and connected the 3 wires to the filtered side of the 2 preamp output pins on the main board but this has a disadvantage as you need to run a dummy tape to activate the head which is the same tape cage as yours so i will let you know how i get on and if i could email you my results with some pictures of this radio being completely rebuilt woul be great.
I would also like to say your videos are spot on and have helped me with loads through the years esp the sony video slv715 video gear wheel alignment
