  • The amazing beaches in Khao Lak are definitely one of the highlights in Thailand. Located on the Andaman Sea these sandy beaches are what you think of when you picture a beach vacation. The beautiful natural scenery with palms and tall sea pines are what make this place special with an isolated feeling while you walk the long stretches of beaches.
On a coastline of about 30 kilometers, you can discover lonely and quiet beaches as well as dreamlike bays. Typical for this region are also the spectacularly beautiful resorts. They are usually located directly on the sea and make for an unforgettable vacation in Thailand.
There are many beaches to choose from and finding a top anything here is an almost impossible task. These are the 4 that most people agree upon but there are many others that could be put into this list and it would be tough to argue with it.
    Khuk Khak Beach
This is a 3 km stretch of beach that is probably the most quite beach in the area. If you are looking for a peaceful beach destination in Thailand, you might want to consider Khuk Khak Beach. The beach is separated from Bang Niang Beach by a small creek that can be crossed during low tide if you want to explore that beach as well. This beach is also surrounded by a few 5 star and high end resorts making it very quiet and less crowded.
    Nang Thong Beach
Nang Thong Beach is a popular spot among tourists and locals in Khao Lak. It is a long stretch of beach north of Sunset Beach featuring a lighthouse and black sand. It is a great spot to capture the sunsets or exercising on the beach. Nang Thong could be considered the center of the Khao Lak Area, where you can find local restaurants, bars, banks and other amenities along the road.
    Bang Niang Beach
Bang Niang Beach is surrounded by local hotels and a local night market. This beach has a golden sandy beach area that is perfect for enjoying a day under the sun or taking a walk to enjoy the scenic view. A must visit destination for beach lovers if you visit here.
    Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach is one of the best beaches for captivating coastal views and stunning sunsets. The beach is located right next to Khaolak mountain, offering visitors an enchanting experience with its breathtaking natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. There are also many hotels and restaurants in this area with a small national park on Khaolak mountain that leads down to a small sandy beach.
Khao Lak has many other things to do and see other than the beaches. It is one of the real gems in Thailand.

Khao Lak is a great part of Thailand. If you are here it’s possible to take a boat to the Similan Islands for more amazing beaches as well as snorkeling or diving. Here is a video of a trip there if you want to see.

Check out Coconut Beach. Our favourite beach in Khao Lak. Especially at Nong Preaw restaurant.

We did spend some time on Coconut Beach while we were there. I didn’t make a video we just relaxed and enjoyed the day. It’s very nice, just behind Bangsak beach for me but any beach in this area is fantastic. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Great footage… is it usual for it to be raining in January? I visited Khao Lak back in 2020 and mid January was bone dry?

January is the dry season so it usually doesn’t rain but it is on the coast so you never know. The wet stuff does keep everything green lol. Glad you enjoyed the video.

For us the best are Bangsak and Bangluth beaches.

I had a tough time deciding on the order. I really like Bangsak and South Beach as well. You really can’t go wrong with any of the beaches in the area. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Hi me again which side of Thailand coast do you think is best
South of Hua hin - dolphin bay or west coast
On a whole for beaches bar etc

I think on a whole the east coast would be better if you consider number of beaches, cost and the night life. You have PKK, Chumphon, Kanom Beach area in Surat Thani and many others. Most of the beaches will be pretty empty compared to Phuket and Krabi. In my mind the beaches I want to visit are Prachuap and south of there. Hua Hin is ok but gets pretty crowded. I haven’t spent much time around Dolphin Bay Area but I do like the Sam Yot National Park. The beaches I have been to there are not as good as somewhere like Manow Beach. One thing I don’t like about the East coast is you will get more trash on the beaches plus usually more wind coming off the water. With that I prefer either Khao Lak or Koh Lanta over pretty much anywhere else in Thailand. That includes Phuket, Krabi and Hua Hin. What I do like doing is taking several days and just ride along the coast and stop wherever I find interesting with no real plan. lol
