Turkey excavating Ani, Armenia's old capital, is a crime against humanity under UN Declaration on Universal Human Rights and UN Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Armenians are indigenous to the region. Armenia has a right to their cultural heritage sites. It should be in Armenia. Turkey committed genocide against Armenians on that same land and stole it through settler colonialism -Turks only arrived in the 1200s from far east. Karabakh is an entirely different issue. Only recently lived, 90% of the people were Armenian. If you look at the territory's history however, you can easily see that Armenians are not indigenous to Karabakh. That's because a lot of people from different ethnicities lived and built their own cultural structures on it, as they lived on it.
Persians, Mongols, Albanians, Turks, all lived on that land, everybody can claim that they belong that land.

That's hilarious coming from someone whose ancestors are from Central Asia! All Turkic people are native to Central Asia and nowhere else. If you find Turkic people west of the Caspian Sea rest-assured those are territories they seized from the indigenous populations. Artsakh, falsely called "Karabakh", has always been Armenian. No one can claim this Armenian land as their own just because their criminal ancestors invaded and occupied it. How can a territory inhabited almost exclusively by native Armenians be part of an enemy state invented 106 years ago when everywhere else they have desecrated and destroyed anything and everything that could bear witness to Armenian existence. Armenians have lived here since time immemorial. In 2005, Azerbaijani sadistic army destroyed a 1,300 year old Armenian cemetery in neighboring Julfa-Nakhijevan and build a military training camp in its place. How can Armenian have a cemetery in the South Caucasus dating back to 7th century but not be native to it? Stop lying, you are embarrassing yourself!

While Armenia and Greece accuse Turkey of irredentism they are the ones who push the borders and see Turkish regions as their own. As you can watch here, "Western Armenia", "I see no mosque there", "My grandmother would get angry if I mentioned Ani/Kars is Turkish today". They fail to accept the present and live in a dream world that was thousands of years ago, all due to the way they are raised in their educational institutions. Look at whose expense Greece grew since they became independent. They even forced their luck to their limits and tried to capture Ankara which turned out to be their ultimate doom in their "Asia Minor catastrophe". The Armenian ASALA terror organisation which assassinated Turkish politicians, diplomats and even civillians had the ideal to do that until Eastern Anatolia becomes Armenian, an ideal that is very alive between Armenians even today. Reason? Because they were once (1000 years ago) part of a Middle Age Armenian state. By that logic Turkey should drive their tanks until the Altai mountains to the East and the Danube river to the West - it's just silly.
Now this all goes without saying, that the current Turkish regime is pushing for their own islamist-centric propaganda that they spread in their schools and news, which half the population doesn't even take seriously and is a hot debated topic in the country. But as an Armenian or a Greek, if you want the world - or even better the Turkish population - to agree with you and have an understanding with your sovereign rights, you have to learn to stay consistent. You can't accuse Turkey of irredentism while seeing Eastern Anatolia as Western Armenia, or the Agean Region as Greek Asia Minor - that is inconsistent. You can't condemn Turkey for converting churches into mosques while doing the same in the once muslim majority city of Yerevan, or in Greek Thrace/Macedonia/Thessaly/Attica. If something which is happening in Turkey bothers you, you have to be bothered by your own country's actions as well that go in the same direction. Only then people will take you seriously.
I really hope for a rather soon agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, so that both the Turkic and Armenian people can prosper from open borders, trade, cultural interactivity and most importantly permanent regional stability. It is my dream to visit Armenia one day and host friends that I make there in Turkey as well. We deserve nothing less as two neighboring people for millenia.

Your reasoning is like Swiss cheese, its just silly. Turks left by themselves, they were not chased out of the altai under threat of genocide, rape and enslavement. In fact, they went to chase away, rape and enslave others because they failed to make a living by themselves, so they did the only thing they could steal and enslave, let the slaves build the economy. When Armenians left their homeland, they had no choice, most of them died anyway- Those who survived did not go on to conquer weaker people, they found a place where they could integrate and become a vital part of society, hence why Armenia has one of the if not the most successful diaspora on the planet while turkey is globally despised.
When the Ottomans confiscated all Armenian wealth in the Empire and even in places like Germany, they had an incredible amount of money for the newly founded republic of turkey, everybody thought they would become a world power within 50 years. Now over 100 years later we once again saw you waste the wealth that others have built over generations and now you have nothing to show for it. so called "easter turkey" is a underdeveloped shithole that has been neglected since its occupation. Just for the region itself it would be so much better historically and just based on data if the Armenians would regain control it. That is an undeniable fact.
You don't get peace by exercising violence and then lying about it for 100 years. If you truly want peace as a nation you should finally return Ani and Ararat to the Armenians and admit to the genocide. Get rid of those embarrassing statues of the Pashas that have literally run your empire into the ground. Show some good will. But anyone suggesting that in Turkey would get lynched on the street or, if lucky, end up in prison, so I do not have much hope. And Armenians and turks are not "neighboring for millennia", your invasion only began in the 11th century, you do not get the right to call those you invaded and mistreated your neighbors for millennia.

As a Brit who has been there with the family via eastern express and stayed a long time, I can say the depiction is quite biased with some ill-intent, probably politically motivated I would say.
Firstly, that mosque in Kars downtown which is converted from church is not open to religious practice unlike a traditional mosque, when we were there we couldn’t even enter as it was under renovation and they said it’s like a museum to visit rather than pray. If left unattended, I’m sure it would be just ruins. We witnessed Turks spent so much funds renovating old heritage in the region, smth that they should definitely be praised in my view. Finally locals told us there’s been huge massacres committed by Armenian gangs during WWI with the support of Russians who previously invaded Kars city, a trace of which can be seen in the Caucasus War Museum in Kars. Again no mention of that side of story or no visits there. Despite all these, we found Turks being quite friendly and open to dialogue with unmissable hospitality. I wish there would be an objective coverage but when we saw the ending credits in this documentary we understood what’s happening. It’s very pity because one should always maintain objectivity, otherwise this would turn into political propaganda..

Wow! You’re the biased one. First of all Armenians are the indigenous people. Turks invaded our lands even affirmed in this video. And finally by 1915 the Turkic leaders organized the genocide of the Armenian race. Do you understand that Armenians were around 2-3 million and Turks over 50 million? Millions of Armenians were massacred and we were exiled from our own lands as you see in this video! Yet you seem to not get it? Why? Armenians only fought in self defense if Turks were killed. They were trying to exterminate an entire RACE! We lived on our own lands! My own grandfather’s entire family was murdered as well. Left orphaned with NO identity!

Maybe then you would calibrate your hatred with some nuances. What I know Turks and Armenians used to live together for about thousand years hence the indigenousness is quite irrelevant but you do have a point which I concur that Armenians have a great legacy in those lands. Anyway, I don’t think there’s only one side in any conflict in the world regardless of how much funds are spent to portray the otherwise. Once Armenia started the war with Azerbaijan and started to demand to re-negotiate border with Turkey, Armenians lost free access to these sites. As a new republic Armenia could have said we respect all internationally recognized borders and try to build good relationship with its neighbors. Had Armenia chosen peace and negotiations, its likely these areas would have been available for them to visit now and most likely Karabakh would be mostly Armenian heritage. No one would have been pushed out of their homes. Also Armenia has to develop economic ties with Turkey in the region. They can not grow their economy depending on Russia and their original strategy of building strong ties with Iran is not going to happen. The West and USA wont help Armenia to build economic relationships with Iran. Videos like yours only push a narrow view point and they dont help Turks and Armenians to live together peacefully.

And Azerbaijan is a region of Iran that never existed in its current area just over a hundred years ago on any map. And Turks did not live anywhere in this area prior to their movement westward into the region in the 1500s. Ararat, not what you call it, was celebrated by native Armenians before any Turks ever arrived in that area. So there you go

Interesting that nothing is said about the decades-long renaming efforts of different Turkish governemnts, mount Ararat is not to be called that way in the Turkish view, as well as the 'Armenian Highland' placename. Ani and Kars are highly rare examples of old Armenian placenames which have not been renamed or linguistically reshaped. Anyway, thanks for the good work!

Armenia was not supported by Russia during 1990s war with azerbaijan. Armenians were using hunting rifles and leftover weapons from ww2 along with soviet weapons. Russia did not help armenia with troops or weapons so what king of "support" are you talking about?

    • @Optimist_Insan

Yeah right, you received very large number of Russian weapons and ammunition from corrupt Russian generals and commanders who stationed in Gyumri and Karabakh. Plus you received tens of millions worts "aid" from your diaspora that were used in purchasing some of these arms. Plus Armenians from Lebanon and Syria arrived to join in combat. For example, the Khojaly massacre was carried out by "Arabo" units consisting of Arab Armenians.

1.Armenians didn't buy this land directly from Adam and Eve. 2. The Armenian kingdom ruled over that region only for 130 years. And they were under the protection of the Abbasids. They were vassals of the greater powers. The Armenian kingdom known as the Bagradit kingdom, founded by Gagik I. were conquered by the Byzantines in 1045. There were many other civilizations prior and after them in the region. Even the Russians were there for a short while. 3. The population of Armenia is around 4 million. The population of Turkey is almost around 90 million. A country with a population of 4 million and not claim a land which stretches from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. This is nonsense. 4. Armenians and Kurds are of Persian decent. They were Zoroastrians and Armenians adopted Christianity in the 4. CE., the Kurds predominantly adopted Islam.
