He was absolutely horrendous up until the raiders game when he tore his acl. The guy is injury prone. Are people starting to catch on? Yes, Nick Nose Wright has a personal issue with Russ. This started prior to the Denver trade during the year Russ broke his finger. For some reason his takes on him since then have been very irrational and below the belt. He is not the only talking head who personally dislikes Russ. Some have been waiting for his demise for years and Nick in particular thought Russ 2023 season would be just as bad or worse than 2022. So now his new schtick is saying his 2023 stats are misleading even though he cannot give a detailed explanation as to how they are misleading. He is only saying that because Russ's stats were close to his beloved Mahomes. Mind you Russ put up these numbers in 15 games, with only 1 decent receiver in Sutton, an inconsistent O-line, no TE, underutilized Mims, and a coach that accepted the job knowing he wanted to pick his own QB. The play calling in a lot of those games were atrocious and I strongly believe Sean did that purposely. On a positive note, a few things Steelers fans should look forward to with Russ. He will play well as long as he's healthy (had multiple injuries in 2022 was healthy in 2023). He will light a fire in the locker room (his DEN teammates credited him for the culture shift during the win streak.) He will handle any adversity with class and will remain professional (reference how he reacted once he was benched for Stidham). He will be fine and the only way he doesn't start is if something catastrophic happens.
