Goa, India - Quest for the Perfect Beach

Many old-timers lament the fact that the Goa they once loved is gone. They say that the beaches have fallen victim to ugly resorts and careless over-development. Along large stretches of the coast, they are right. But in our quest for the perfect Goan beach, I think we've proven that a few remnants of paradise still exist. You just have to look a little harder.

We were there in December and January, which I believe is the peak tourist season in Goa. We had no rain at all while we were there. I miss Goa!

You really should. Due to the beach being a nesting place for turtles no one is allowed to build anything there. So it's one of the last few unexploited beaches in Goa.
And instead of palms it is surround with eucalyptus trees! :D

This was all filmed in Southern Goa. We stayed on Agonda Beach, ventured a little south to Palolem and checked out some of the more isolated beaches north of Agonda. We had a great time there!

when you find the perfect beach, keep it to yourself, Palolem was once so quiet, no bars, no beach huts, just a few travellers, then it got into the guide books...oh well, progress?

It's probably like you says because me and a friend came to Goa in late february or early march 2011 and we were told that the tourist season were about to end!
Did you visit Galgibaga by the way? The "turtle nesting beach", one of the last beaches in southern Goa before Karnataka I think.

Even the best Goan beaches seemingly pale by comparison to many other countries beaches especially in neighboring South East Asia. Hardly ever blue sea's and even if they are they aren't that blue - Goa seems to have other nice scenic points but I don't think it's Beaches are great.
