A friend of mine who moved here to Portland from NYC was definitely not prepared for the extroverted homeless. No eye contact, no approaching. NYC sounds dangerous to me as a West Coast guy, but I can see how Portland looks that way to the rest of the country.
Waiting outside a deli window at 1 AM while a homeless dude just stands in the middle of the street screaming the N word is a life changing experience.
Let me put it this way: I've lived in the PNW most of my life and I really like it here and I STILL almost moved to Las Vegas just because I was so goddamn sick of rain.
The game looks fun as fuck actually but I zoned out on the faces this is best one where you can appreciate the absurdly gay detail to the matching the mouth movements.
I saw a guy just freezing to death on the ground right in front of the doors to the hospital on 23rd ave one time, Nick is wrong about not having winter it can totally freeze you to death it just takes longer. I went into the hospital and asked if they were gonna bring him in and they says he was just discharged, and I was like well can you throw a few sheets over him or something so he can come down off heroin with some body heat left and they were like you need to leave
That would be too high energy for a PNW video. They sound tired, stoned and depressed which is exactly the right energy when approaching the topic of the PNW
Unironically very good show😮, much better than the concurrent House of Cards, a laughably stupid show with the same basic corrupt politician premise that got all the critical acclaim
I didn’t realize how little history the NW had till I went to school in New England where the brick you walk on is somehow related to the founding of the country. I thought back to learning WA state history in elementary school and retrospectively how gay it all was.
My mom grew up in a logging town outside of Portland. They had a paper mill in the town that everyone worked at, but then hippies came and protested, so like half of the town lost their jobs. The whole area is just an economic black hole
Come to Portland and spend some time downtown, it's exactly like he says. On the other hand, much of the surrounding neighborhoods are very peaceful and there's a lot of great parks and hiking trails.
Portland is barely the PNW imo. It’s completely different than literally sent where else in Oregon or WA, good food tho Seattle is the only comparable place and Seattle at the very least is a real city with things to do and an ocean lol
lol, yeah Seattle is definitely more of a city and Portland has some small town vibes. Idk what you mean by saying it’s barley the Pacific Northwest though. I would consider the whole stretch west of the cascades in Oregon as the PNW
absolutely insane that people from any part of california have the gall to say any of this when they don't get a drop of rain to wash away the pee on their pavements.
guy has cartoonish take about what an entire region of a country must be like in general based on a picture he saw online and an interaction with a homeless person. infers that another place is way better to live in, he also happens to already live there. the homeless shitlib harassing him about his not maga hat sounds like a made up ass story someone like my super conservative dad would think up. he also has strong opinions about portland. he lives in rural New Hampshire and has never been to the west coast of the country, but knows exactly what it's like to live here somehow.
