I would like to hear the results of your experiment ordering that office chair and the mug. One thing to keep in mind - Temu and other companies do have warehouse in the US and stock some items there (but not all). So it's possible one or both of those items will ship from a US warehouse, in which case tariffs have already been dealt with and nothing will happen with the shipment to you. But I'm really curious to see exactly what happens if they ship those items from outside the US. I hope you follow up with the result. Thanks!
Is the De minimis of $800 from Canada impacted if a shipment from Canada to the USA includes a Chinese made product? In other words, is there still a loophole for Canadian companies who send Chinese products to the US under the de minimis value, and thereby avoid tariffs?
The loophole is closed. If a shipment from Canada had Chinese made products, it will be impacted. That shipment would be subject to duties, both the Chinese made product and any standard tariff will apply to other goods in the package. The only exception might be a shipment sent with Canada Post, Customs and Border Patrol clear those packages (not a broker) so they might get through due to capacity and ability, not because of what the law states.
