Very nice detailed review. There are 4 generations in the monster range not 5 as yet. As for 1st gen prices, they are pretty stable and don't seem to increase that much prices usually around $300 on ebay etc unless you see a NOS example of course. The 2nd gen orange SRP309's and Dracula SRP313 are the most desirable of the 2nd generation and prices have climbed for those particular pieces. The 3rd generations, all 7 of them have really increased in value due to short production runs and the better 6r15 movement.
@@seiko_monster_legend Thanks so much for watching and imparting some Monster knowledge, Wayne! My mistake on the number of generations, you're right about that. Appreciate the insight on the prices of the different generations too - it's no wonder this Dracula model was selling for those kinds of prices on eBay.
yes. the Gen 2 monster is the best looking and most balanced and value for money out there. however. the Pure Orange one will be quite expensive on secondary market but i purchased it pre-owned before it got expensive years ago.
The Monster lineup as a whole is too radical for me, even the subtler newer gens. I guess my taste in watches is too vanilla haha. Happy you’re loving yours though!
I have a SEIKO Dracula Monster SRP313J1 4R36-01J0 Japanese version, Why is this watch so expensive? I got mine as a gift a few years ago, still mint, a very nice watch.
Well... show of hands who bought the Dracula in 2023 besides me? I was able to get the Roman Numeral Day for $700. Luckily no one else was bidding lol. I wanted the J version, but just didn't want to pat the $1,200. I will say, I'm glad I bought it 😁. I'm putting a single dome sapphire on it, lumed crown, and currently on Super Engineer II band. I sold my Orange Oris Aquis to buy this, and Zelos V3 Mosaic
I have orange monster 2nd gen from 2014 and i read online i should service it but official service in my town responded to me i should not touch it if it works perfectly...
I don’t think a service is absolutely necessary if it still keeps good time. It may even be cheaper to replace the whole movement with a new NH35 when that time comes.
I wouldn't. It's a great design (if you don't mind getting bit if you're not paying attention) but there are far better options than Seiko's overpriced so-so quality pieces. Heimdallr's (silver hands preferably) if you want the look without spending much or the Islander IL-60 if you want better build quality and a bracelet that doesn't have the awful pins & pipes. I've nothing against Seiko, it's just that in this mid range arena you can get a lot better than they offer now. Happily both these alternatives utilise Seiko's excellent NH36 (surely one of their greatest contributions to the industry) Seiko seem to be more interested in the higher end these days, what with the changes in shopping habits and the proliferation of entry/mid range Chinese brands that offer so much for your money. I feel their strengths are better represented in a true high end piece.
Do you think it's still worth purchasing an early-gen Seiko Monster at the prices they currently go for? Let me know!

@@WristWatching you're welcome buddy
I payed $699 for a Gen2 Orange in 2022.
Had my Srp313 since release. I still wear it. Had no idea ppl were paying good money for these. Love the watch
I love the 2nd gen Monsters!! None of the others can match it! I'll have to start watching more of your videos so I just subscribed 🙂👍👍
Thank you!
Thanks for the shout out bro. Oh my, those scratches really shines through 😅🤣.

Lucky you! The orange Monster is definitely the icon of this series. Prices on that are crazy in the current market.
same
I just picked one up on eBay for $600. New old stock and an SBDC067 Blue Coral for $800. There are deals out there.
Congrats on the find! Wear it in good health.
I can't warm to how radical the design on these older Monsters, I have a 4th gen and I love it. A little more subtle for me

the 1st gen black monster is the sexiest of them all
I got the Black Ion. Other than being +20s/day, and finnicky bezel even after replacing the bezel spring and gasket, its one big bad boy
+20spd isn't unusual for these Seikos, so you're good on that front!

Prices are high because it’s discontinued and hard to find. Seiko enthusiasts are willing to pay a premium to get one of these.

Glad you managed to snag one!
Hi.... i need to find a black colour steel bracelet for my monster.
Appreciate the help.
Thanks.
You could try searching on AliExpress. They might have some options there.
My Srp313 is running nice since 2013
Wow, without needing a service? These movements really are built to last.
my dream seiko
It’s been getting really hard to find these. Hope you manage to snag one up!

Maybe the most original designed watch ever!!
It’s definitely up there!

Excellent breakdown, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I completely agree!

Thanks, I didn't know that!
