Your point of view is so refreshing. I would watch anything you put out. I already watched all your reviews without even looking for them. Amazing content. So relaxing.
Thank you for this lovely comment, and your kind words are much appreciated. I am glad to read you are enjoying them and finding it relaxing! I hope the new stuff coming out will be the same ☺️🤘🏻
What sets this gear review apart from the multitude of others on RUclips is the raw talent evident in your shots. Such a refreshing change from the legion of street shooters skulking around spraying and praying. Your genuineness doesn't hurt either! Wishing your channel every success!
This is super lovely! Thank you so much ☺️ I always say, you don’t need to change nature, it’s beautiful enough. Thank you again I do really appreciate it 🙃
Hello fello Fuji shooter! - the Fuji community is such a great one! Thank you for this lovely comment and for subscribing - it is all very much appreciated! 🙃🤘🏻
What a great video and personal perspective of your photography and what matters to you. Agree totally with the Fujifilm experience - great lenses with character and camera designs that inspire to take photos.
Thank you so much for this comment! so glad to read that you feel the same as well. I think it definitely creates a different vibe and more fun photography! - in my opinion anyway! 🙃🤘🏻
Firstly, I have to commend you on the self portraits...the locations, the lighting, posing etc...just striking images. Secondly, your sample images really do highlight the special qualities of the Fujifilm 35 1.4. Whether deliberate or not on Fuji's part, that lovely optical imperfectness in the right hands communicates something very special. It is my favorite Fujifilm lens.
This is a super lovely comment, thank you so much! I really enjoy self portrait photography, it's a great way of getting out my creativity 🙃 I am so glad you agree, there is definitely something special about the Fuji series, like you say, I am not too sure if it is deliberate but it's what has kept me loving the lenses. You have a very good taste in lenses, thank you again! 😊
Couldn't agree more. In art, you have to please yourself first. Worrying about what others may think restricts the creative process. I got this lens at the start of the Fuji mirrorless story when l purchased the X-Pro1 over 10 years ago. Yes, it is a bit clunky in autofocus mode but that hardly matters in general, outdoors use. It has that "character" you mention and which us older photographers get quite nostalgic about! The closest l have to it in character is a 40-year old Yashica 35mm f2.8 lens. If you ignore the aperture differences, l find them both to be wonderful for black and white photography on the Fujifilm bodies. Thanks for another fun and enjoyable video.
That first line should be a quote written in stone! It is epic! and you are totally right, well said! It is an old lens but glad you enjoy the character as well, I think that's why it is still going strong. I am so glad it gives a sense of nostalgia, I used to shoot with a SLR many moons at school and got the chance to use a dark room and develop my own negatives - it was amazing. I have never tried the Yashica 35mm but I can imagine it is a beauty! I agree, black and white photos with this lens is magic - it's actually inspired me to do some more! Thank you again for another really interesting comment and for watching this review ☺️🤘🏻
This is very lovely to read and thank you so much! It is all from the heart 🙂 I have some stuff on the way and fingers crossed people like! Have a lovely day 🙃🤘🏻
I am currently deciding on joining Fuji family and diving in RUclips videos to find more info and... found you! and so happy I did! Your personality in the end of the video almost made me tears and I love that. As others mention, your shots alone are fantastic and truly tell a story both about you and the lens. Thank you for being here and being so authentic!
I am soo sorry, I missed this lovely comment until now! Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching. And welcome to the Fuji family, it is a wonderful community. To me that is what photography should be, capturing a moment from the heart and telling a story. I hope you got a camera and you are happy shooting with it 🙃✌🏻
Hello fello fuji shoot (aka awesome people!), I really appreciate this! and thank you! I just like to look at life with a positive outlook as it's beautiful 🙃🤘🏻
Oh i agree! When i changed from Canon i think in 2015/16 my first purchase was the xt1 with this 35, and i literally fell in love 😂😂😂. To this day, thru all the lenses ive bought, sold, swapped , its still my absolute favourite! Im so happy to see someone else have a bit of a love affair with it too! Did u name it???
I love this lens - especially the sound it makes, while it sharpens the motive. The look it produces - and the design it looks: all amazing, i love it. Eric looks good as well. Again greetings from Austria
Hello again Austria! Yes it is a lovely little classic lens that packs a punch! I'm really glad to hear you love it as well, it is a fantastic little lens! And yes, Erik is the best little dog ever! 🙃🤘🏻
Thanks for your interesting review! The 35mm f1.4 is my favorite Fujifilm lens. It reminds me of a former beloved lens the Leica (dual range) 50mm f2 I used on my M3. The 35/1.4 really does offer a wonderful character a number of vintage lenses once had.
Thank you very much! It is a little pocket rocket of a lens, yes, a little clunky at times but it is fantastic and give so much character to an image - and fun to use! 🙃🤘🏻
Hey goodnight Vicky (hope I'mnot being to forward) I too was directed to your channel, and I'm also glad tht I took the opportunity to view the channel...the first vid that I've seen from you is the "self portrait one." It's was very intering your methods, anyway as a Fujifilm x-t3 shooter myself you've quite a collection of somef beautiful glass, I love those images of the clouds conversions, we really don't get anything like that here in Barbados..(shame), but we can't have every thing, say a big hello to.."Eric" from wht I gather he..Eric thinks that you neglects him too much, that's why when you ask for his input at the end of the videos he dont say a lot...please continue to have "FUN" in your photography, ad you've said it not all about the "likes" and subscription, although as of now you've just added another subscriber to your list...looking forward to the next video..
Thank you again! And I will keep having fun, that’s what photography is for me! You keep having fun too in Barbados - bet you get some amazing photography there! Thank you again for your kindness and have a lovely day! 🙂✌🏻
more power to you for sticking with the oem square hood on this lens! the cap on the OEM hood would ALWAYS fall off and i almost lost it multiple times whilst traveling. I switched up to the Haoge square hood and it's been sooo much better lol. Loved the review!
Such a great review and colorful scenery, you live in such a gorgeous country. I here a lot about the character of this lens. I guess that’s perfect for those that shoot JPgs & I often do when on holidays etc. but for my pro work this lens didn’t really cut it for me. The AF couldn’t keep up and when it did the images wide open were a bit soft, for me character of an image is something I create half on site and half in the edit, & I prefer a clean image, a clean slate when editing, i can always add grain, chromatic aberrations etc. I wish I didn’t sell it though because the 33mmf1.4 although amazing in I Q its a bit bigger and stands out a bit more when u just want to get some fun, family or travel pics.
Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching - it is always appreciated! I can completely understand that, you want to make sure you are getting the best shots for pro work, which makes perfect sense! You make some very very good points, shows you know your stuff! It is a good characterful lens if you are looking for a vintage feel and different vibe. But the new 33mm f1.4 is also very fun but amazing quality! I managed to pick up mine second hand for a good price, so keep an eye out 🙃🤘🏻🦄
I found your channel by chance and I'm glad I did. Thanks for the review and cool contents. Love the trip do the Alpes content and I can't really get it how you only have a little over 6k subscribers at the moment I'm writing this. Keep up the good work.
My fav Fuji lens! Especially for night street photos in misty Edinburgh ;) Like your videos, nice to see someone new here on youtube that does not care much about crappy insta or what people think, just passionate and in love with nature. All the best.
You have a good taste in lenses! Ah I can imagine it works magic on the lovely streets of Edinburgh - that sounds amazing! Thank you very much for your lovely comment, and yes, that is my true thoughts and opinion -- I love photography and I do it for me, too much is just made for social media which I find a shame and impacts creativity in photography! Best way to be is to follow your heart and be yourself. Thank you again and all the best with your photography in Edinburgh 🙃
Awesome video! I enjoyed the pace, the calmness, your personality and the way that you made it your own. I agree with you 100%. I just purchased and returned the fuji 33 1.4 LM WR. It is a sharp, fast focusing and beautiful lens however, it has no character! I just ordered the 35 1.4. Yes it is older, yes it is "clunky" BUT it has that "magic" that people keep going on about. I also retuned the 18 1.4 LM WR for the same reason. Although it was sharp and beautiful, it lacked anything that made me want to shoot with it. A lens can have all of the perfect specs but it needs something more to make me want to get off the couch and go outside lol. Thanks again for this video. My 35 1.4 should be here by monday. I also ordered the 16-55 2.8 because I still wanted a fast all around zoom. I have the 18-55 2.8-f4 but I wanted a constant aperture.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving this very lovely comment! I absolutely loved reading it and it brought a massive smile to my face! It is lovely to read that you too enjoy the character of a lens and the magic that it can bring to your photography - keep doing what you are doing! I will be trialling out the 33mm soon for a couple of weeks and I will leave a review about it, I am very interested to see how it performs against the 35mm after reading this! I might even do a comparison video of the two - and put magical music on when I talk about the 35mm haha! I agree with wanting a lens that sparks creativity and makes you get outside! Happy shooting with your 35mm and best of luck with the 16-55mm, it is meant to be a lovely lens! Thank you again and have a fantastic day! 🙃🤘🏻🦄
Woo!! Loving these little story reviews that you are putting out. Really making me want to get out and shoot too! The weather is pretty great for it here in Devon too ;)
Aww thank you sooooo much! It is all from the heart! Yes you should definitely get out and shoot, especially in Devon, it is a beautiful place! I am glad you have the sunshine too 🙃🤘🏻
I just discovered your channel and I love your presentation and how awesome you are in front of the camera, absolutely lovely. Now as for the XF35mm f1.4... This is the first lens I got with my X-E1 back in 2012. Since then I took a deep dive into fuji with [as of now] five more bodies and eight more prime lenses. This original older lens in the XF lineup is like you said Not the quickest but it is my most loved lens for it's character and how it renders a subject or composition. You will hear people say that this lens has some kind of magic to it and I have to 100% agree. I have owned Many 50mm [field of view] lenses in my lifetime and this [52mm FoV equivalent] Fuji 35mm f1.4 is up there with a couple old Nikkor 50mm f1.8 lenses I still use on my Nikons. There is something unexplainable with images from this Fuji lens that has never been duplicated since. Truth be told, I am selling off a majority of my fuji gear but THIS lens especially is keeping me from selling my X-Pro2, That combo and the 56mm are magical for pretty much anything. Like they say, you never forget your first love, and in this case it is my first Fuji love and still the one for me. Great video, great channel. Take care and have a lovely week ahead ☺️ Sincerely, your new Sub; Art from California
Thank you sooooo much for taking the time to write out this amazing comment! I really enjoyed reading all of it! and California, you live in a beautiful place! It is so lovely to read that you agree about the magic the 35mm holds, it really does have something special about it. It sounds like you have really tried and tested lots of lenses/combinations as well, so you know what you are talking about! I am also very glad to hear you have decided to keep hold of you gear for not only this awesome lens but for the 56mm as well - my favourite!! I agree, Fuji has a very special way about It and I wouldn't swamp mine either. It's too special to me! Thank you again for your lovely words and have an incredible week too! ☺️🤘🏻
Pixels, sharpness..... So tired about it!!! This lens is probably one of the best in my collection.... It's like a filmic, Vintage, smooth, clear felling in all photos taken with this lens! Thanks for your video! 👌👌👌
I agree! It is just nice to use a lens and see how it feels, people get too caught up on perfection and all the details. I really love this lens, you might enjoy my story telling vlog that I did with it as well. Thank you very much 🙃🤘🏻🦄
@@wildandfreevictoria just saw all of your video. Really good! I’m new to upload video about Fujifilm on RUclips. There are some POV shooting video. Welcome to check out.🙂
Literally on the verge of selling my 18-55mm to pick up this lens, the 18-55mm is great though I haven't fallen in love with it and near enough all my favourite images are taken on my 55-200mm, so I think the signs are pointing to me picking up this as my walkaround lens to see if it can create the magic I'm lacking.
Aww that is a tricky decision! Is the 18-55mm the kit lens? I'll be honest I didn't get on very well with the kit lens when I got it with my X-T3, it just didn't sing to my style (and I prefer primes!). I think it is a sign, and hey, if you don't like it, you can always swap it. Nothing is permanent 🙃🤘🏻
@@wildandfreevictoria yep that's the kit lens, don't get me wrong the 18-55mm is a really great lens though for some reason I couldn't gel with it at all, it didn't really inspire much creativity from me, nowhere near as much as my 55-200mm, so after a lot of reading and decision making I decided to go with a 35mm prime and focus mainly on composition and the art of storytelling via a lens, which I don't think the 18-55mm could do (at least not for me at least) Just bought the 35mm f2 Fuji yesterday, I was strongly considering the f1.4 however the weather sealing and faster autofocus swung it for me, from what I've seen the 1.4 is a stunning lens though, the choice was made with my head and not my heart because my heart screamed 1.4.. still the 35mm focal length is the most important thing. Great video you made it definitely swung my decision making, feel free to follow my insta for any future 35mm shots I take Palmistry__ (two underscores at the end) 🙃 Hope you're having a great morning 🥳
Fellow Fuji shooter. This is only the second comment ever…ever…posted and wanted to say I loved your message around being true to yourself and being unconventional! Don’t stop laughing 😁
Hello fellow Fuji shooter and welcome! Thank you for this lovely comment, I feel very very privilege that this is your second comment ever - thank you!! I have some more videos on the way and being yourself will be the theme in a lot of them, it's an important message to share - I think anyway ☺️ And I will never stop laughing! thank you so much and have a fab day! 🙃🤘🏻
@@travelcanada8817 Great minds! I just had a look at my camera and I have it set up as 'Creative Style' - Standard, contrast -2, saturation -1 and sharpness +1. WB - Daylight. I don't have a picture profile set as I didn't like them! I hope this helps! I adjust the colour slightly in DaVinci Resolve as well :)
It is a very lovely lens! I picked mine up second hand for a reasonable price and was pretty chuffed! I have done a story telling vlog about it too - it might sway you some more :) Thank you for your kind words, and yes I do really love photography and feel it should always come from the heart 🙃🤘🏻
Beautiful photos Victoria! Great insights on the lens - I actually just got mine a week ago, haven't been able to shoot with it as the weather in Auckland has been a bit dire for the most part. Do you have an Instagram or Flickr account where we can view your photos? Cheers
Aw thank you for watching and leaving a lovely comment! Well I do hope you get good weather soon and can take the lens out, you have beautiful scenery over in Auckland. I do have some newer lenses but I have still kept this 35mm and I will go out with it again soon, it is great. I have an Instagram account @wildandfreevictoria but I don't use it all the time 🙃
Hi Victoria what external Battery do you use and case and how much does it weigh with both it would save me rushing to recharge batteries or should I say a crawl all the besr Rob Lowe
This video is phenomenal. This took me out of the hole of “this is the sharpest lens ever” or “you need this gear to be professional”. I absolutely enjoyed this video, that’s a sub from me! Quick question btw, do you ever worry about using this photo in the rain?
I absolutely loved reading this comment, thank you for this and your words. I wanted to give an honest opinion and so glad you saw it for that! To answer you question, I do not worry about the 35mm in the rain, but I wouldn't use my 56mm in heavy rain (I have in light drizzle), my wide angle and telephoto are ok in the rain. If you are worried you can always get a rain cover for your camera/lens 🙃
Nope not tried or purchased one, I quite like keeping it hand held gives an old school vlog feel 🙃 - also gimbals are pretty expensive! But hopefully the footage doesn't make you feel sea sick! 🤓
The 35/1.4 is one the worst lenses I've ever used, with an awful sound and loud AF motor and a 9-10 years old design. It's resolution won't support future sensors with higher resolution.
Ah that is such a shame! It is a bit old and clunky but I still love it, it's character that wins it for me and works well with my X-T3! What lens do you use instead?
Your point of view is so refreshing. I would watch anything you put out. I already watched all your reviews without even looking for them. Amazing content. So relaxing.

Thank you for watching and leaving this comment! It is very much appreciated and so glad you agree ☺️✌🏻

Well, I can dream about it anyway!
@@lifeloved409 Always follow your heart and just go for it! if you are enjoying it, that's all that matter 🙃
Take care and have a lovely week ahead ☺️
Sincerely, your new Sub; Art from California
Thanks for the review and love your video and how you express yourself. Keep it going girl. Cheers
I really appreciate this! Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed it 🙃✌🏻☀️🌈
8:10 exceptional image… and… Erik is an absolute legend.
Thank you very much and yes, he is the best little guy ever - although I am biased 🙃☺️
Fantastic video! A wonderful creative expression. Inspired!
Thank you very much! and glad to know it has inspired 🙃🤘🏻
Thank you very much 🙃🤘🏻🦄
Great shots. And nice honest reviews
Thank you so much! and yes, I wanted to go for a user perspective review 🙃🤘🏻

Best review on this lens, I decided to buy this over a 27mm 😅
Aww thank you! Enjoy it! It’s a beautiful lens 🙂
35 mm will always be my favorite ever,if I had to pick up just one that would be the one 🙃 Another great review ! Thank you! ☺️
You have good taste in focal length! You can't beat a 35mm! Thank you very much Alex! 🙃
@@wildandfreevictoria I have to agree. 35mm is unbeatable 🙃
Great! Thanks for helping my decision to go for this lens :)

Thank you this is very kind and yes always enjoy photography for the fun and art that it is 🙃🙃
Literally on the verge of selling my 18-55mm to pick up this lens, the 18-55mm is great though I haven't fallen in love with it and near enough all my favourite images are taken on my 55-200mm, so I think the signs are pointing to me picking up this as my walkaround lens to see if it can create the magic I'm lacking.
@@wildandfreevictoria yep that's the kit lens, don't get me wrong the 18-55mm is a really great lens though for some reason I couldn't gel with it at all, it didn't really inspire much creativity from me, nowhere near as much as my 55-200mm, so after a lot of reading and decision making I decided to go with a 35mm prime and focus mainly on composition and the art of storytelling via a lens, which I don't think the 18-55mm could do (at least not for me at least)
Just bought the 35mm f2 Fuji yesterday, I was strongly considering the f1.4 however the weather sealing and faster autofocus swung it for me, from what I've seen the 1.4 is a stunning lens though, the choice was made with my head and not my heart because my heart screamed 1.4.. still the 35mm focal length is the most important thing.
Great video you made it definitely swung my decision making, feel free to follow my insta for any future 35mm shots I take Palmistry__ (two underscores at the end) 🙃
Hope you're having a great morning 🥳
You are a breath of fresh air! 😊😊❣❣🙏🙏
This is just super sweet to read, thank you so much ☺️🤘🏻
Fellow Fuji shooter.
Great video. What camera are you using to film yourself? The colors are great!
Thank you! It is the Sony Z-V1 and it is a great little camera, very happy with it! - maybe I should do a review of it! 🤓🤘🏻
@@wildandfreevictoria I have the zv1 as well with the xt4! Are you shooting in log and doing a grade. Lol my sony zv1s colors don't look as dreamy
@@wildandfreevictoria awesome. It's like a fuji recipe but for the zv1!! Thank you so much. I am 100 percent going to use this!
@@travelcanada8817 You are most welcome! I hope it works for you! 🙃🤘🏻
Thanks! Very nice review, yes we are sick of those sharpness technical review.
Thank you very for this! I wanted to do a review from the user perspective and how much I have enjoyed shooting with all my lenses 🙃🤘🏻
I really would love to own this lens. Thanks for your insight! I really appreciate your outlook on photography and art and going for it! 👍🏼
I have an Instagram account @wildandfreevictoria but I don't use it all the time 🙃
Great review - thanks!
Thank you so much! 🙃🤘🏻

Hi Victoria what external Battery do you use and case and how much does it weigh with both it would save me rushing to recharge batteries or should I say a crawl all the besr Rob Lowe
I have this and love it...
You have great taste in lenses 😎🤘🏻
Terrific review!
Really appreciate it! Thank you!
If you are worried you can always get a rain cover for your camera/lens 🙃
have you tried a gimbal for your video footage?
Nope not tried or purchased one, I quite like keeping it hand held gives an old school vlog feel 🙃 - also gimbals are pretty expensive! But hopefully the footage doesn't make you feel sea sick! 🤓
Great. Now I need to name my lenses …
Yes definitely name them! They all deserve names and it adds an element of fun to it 🙃
My Precious 😅
Haha yes! 😄
Sounds like you should just move over to Sony.
What is your ig name plz..?
It is wildandfreevictoria 🙃🤘🏻
Thnk you....
Pocket rocket? Never heard of it mate
Haha it’s the name I gave it ✌🏻😁
