You ripper! I remember switching over after the 2001 AFL Grand Final on 7, and this was pretty much the first thing I saw on 9 that arvo to promo the change in broadcast! Was bloody exciting! Well done. Wish we had this sort of build up these days
Whatever happened to the good days of Nine’s AFL coverage? I think Nine did a good job at televising the AFL and they managed to screen the Sunday Adternoon match live into all markets. Even NSW and QLD got the live AFL match which leads into NRL.
@@MisterPolitical1 look what happened to End of 2006. Channel Nine lost the AFL, which was the beginning of the end of Nine’s ratings dominance. The day Channel 7 got the rights to the AFL, their coverage has gone downhill. From 2007 onwards, Seven got the rights to the AFL onwards and their coverage has deteriorated with lack of excitement in coverage. The coverage has been so bad with lack of new innovations. Fans want to have a new telecaster like Nine, however Nine wanted to stick to the NRL coverage while AFL wants to stick to Channel 7. Sadly we had to suffer through Channel 7’s AFL coverage for many years to come. The coverage was enough to turn viewers off because of Hamish McLachlan joining the sevens telecast.
Extremely memorable intro, the drums still pop into my head from time to time.
